Thumbs down Frequent bacterial infections? :(

This is kind of gross but I'm sure I'm not the only one who has experienced this.

Ever since I started dancing I have been getting bacterial infections "down there" quite often, I'm pretty sure it's because my stripper thongs are not cotton-lined and I work a lot. Yes I do wash them and I own several. I currently do not work at a nude club. I already know it's not an STD because they happen even when I'm not sexually active. Is there anything I can do to prevent them, or reduce them? Or get rid of them without going to the doctor (I don't have insurance)..? I'm disgusted by this problem and it makes me self-conscious at work.

get ones with cotton crotches..that's very important! it allows the skin/area to "breathe" and soak up moisture. all of your panties should be cotton lined!! switch em up, or you will get the problem again..in the meantime go to the store and get something over the counter for yeast infections? oh and don't douche either, that'll make it worse

Go to your doctor and get an antibiotic. If that doesn't work or you don't want to take meds there are a lot of natural treatments for this such as inserting a tampon dipped in plain, active yogurt for a few days, a hydrogen peroxide wash, and a ton of other things. Do a google search. I have also used a product called FloraFemme but it is expensive! These infections tend to recur but are really common. The yogurt finally got mine to go away.

You may have an allergy to whatever material its made of. Try wearing satin thongs. Or lycra. Or something that isn't the material you're currently wearing.

With the advice mentioned above make sure you are distinguishing a yeast (fungal) infection from a bacterial infection. They are different and naturally the treatment is as well.

Especially since you are not working at nude club, I would stick to ones with a cotton crotch. The problem is, with you working at a club where you keep your bottoms on the whole night, your not allowing any air down there which traps moisture and sweat and without the proper panties it creates the perfect environment for bacteria to grow. Wearing panties that are "breathable" and allow air to circulate won't allow for the bacteria to grow as easily.

Do you mean like BV or a UTI? I get BV and sometimes nothing works. Recently I found that doing a few days of a hydrogen peroxide douche helps. The only time I need to douche again is if I have have had ejaculate/cum/whatever in me or after my period. I am going to start taking probiotics too. I was using tea tree suppositories but they only kept things clear for a few days.

Have you gone to a doctor after the first infection? If not, you've probably just had one long infection this whole time cause without antibiotics, it's just festering down there.

I see you're in Pheonix. I found this women's health center and it's $30 for them to check you for BV http://www.lcwcaz.org/. $30 plus the prescription cost is a small price to pay for a healthy vag and once they give you the meds, you'll be as good as new in like 3 days.

    Tips for not getting another vag infection;
    - Pee before you go to sleep
    - Pee right after you have sex
    - If you have to pee, don't wait until the last minute
    - Don't put on a thong if you've recently pooped
    - Wipe yourself with a nonscented or "sensitive" baby wipe after you go to the bathroom and wipe yourself a few times per shift
    - Sleep in cotton granny panties
    - If you're getting oral sex and the guy has recently drank alcohol, that'll give you a yeast infection
    - While at work and in general, change your bottoms if they get even a little bit wet
    - Don't spray anything down there
    - While doing anything with a sexual partner, make sure they aren't moving germs from your butthole to your vag
    - Try not to buy jeans that are super tight
    - Try not to ever go "commando"
    - Idk if this is true or if it's just a coincidence but since I've started masturbating a lot, I've had wayyyy less annoyances down there. I used to get BV/UTI/yeast infections all the time but now I don't. I think having an orgasm is kind of flushing stuff out of me and keeping my vag happy.
