    Default Tax disaster :(

So let me explain my situation. I thought camming would be fun, and it totally was! I made $1,400 on MFC and had a great time as a college student last year. The "real world" came at me hard, and after I graduated, I took a vanilla job in an industry where my camgirl status would be an issue, so I've since quit. I recieved my 1099 and planned on paying the taxes for it.

I went home this weekend, only to find out that my family had already filed my taxes! Though, to be fair, I'm not sure what I would have done had they not, just been like, "oh, by the way dad, here's some money I made babein' around on the internet." I still have my 1099 on hand and it wasn't declared.

What advice might anyone have for me? I've always been perfect with my taxes. Do I just make sure I am perfect in the future, and cross my fingers that this booboo does not cost me, or is there any way I can file my 1099 separately?

This tax stuff is so confusing. Gosh, I'd pay my earnings back in full if it meant this could just be over with...

You have to re-do your taxes or you will be audited. They sent a 1099 meaning the IRS has a copy of the amount you make. And since you have a regular job, they also have copies of your W-2 also. You will get audited because they automatically add the income from your W-2(s) and 1099 amount together and will see you didn't claim $1,400 and audit you for it.

I would suggest going to an account and having him/her re-do your taxes with an amended tax return.

^^^ expanding on those comments, if you were a 'dependent' of your parents and they just reported your W2 income via THEIR tax return, for a fact your parents are going to have to file an amended tax return. If the total earnings between your 'straight' job and your camming income was less than $3,000, then your parents can add your 1099 income to their tax return and refile. However, if the total earnings between your 'straight' job and your camming income was more than $3,000, your parents will have to drop your W2 income from their amended tax return, and you will have to file your own tax return including both your W2 income and your 1099 income ( on which you will not be able to claim yourself as a dependent ... and on which you will probably wind up owing 25-30% of your combined income in taxes ).
