Basically an RSS feed is a news feed. If you subscribe someones RSS feed, you are notified when they make new posts. There are RSS readers such as Google Reader that let you put all your blogs that you subscribe to in one place so they are easier to read and you don't need to check a million websites. They are discontinuing Google Reader but if you just search RSS readers you can find a bunch of free ones and each has different features.
So for instance, if a customer likes you and subscribes to your feed, and you make a new blog post saying "Hey guys, I just made this new video, buy it!" it will show up in his feed on his RSS reader as a new post, almost like the Facebook news feed.
Having new content, such as blog posts, is also good for SEO (search engine optimization).
If you have blogger I believe they include the RSS feed subscription button. For wordpress it's a simple plugin. You don't need the button though, people can subscribe to you without it but if you have it it encourages more subscriptions, which is what you want!
