I have a guy that wants to do a hair washing show but I wear a wig while I cam. It's synthetic and wasn't expensive but I don't want to ruin it. Any tips?

I can't be any help on this topic, but i would also like to know because i also wear a wig, thanks for asking![]()
You can risk doing the show but dont use a shampoo on it. You'll NEVER get it untangled. What i suggest is using a conditioner on it. Thats what we use in beautfy school for the dolls hairs, they still get tangled but it doesnt ruin them. shampoo will render them about useless though. Maybe focus on a 'oil' show instead? just play it off like u have dry hair?

I don't know if this would work on a wig but might be worth a shot to untangle it after....![]()

Bobby pin that sucker to your head and use conditioner. If you want you can dilute the conditioner a bit with water. It gets all sudsy and is easier to rinse out. I'm a wig wearer for medical reasons and I find when I was my wigs (never on my head though) diluted conditioner is best! Good luck!

Thanks for all the great tips!
Does conditioner make a lot of foam though? I am new to the hair washing fetish so I don't know if that is part of what they like.

Hmm, not as sudsy as with shampoo. I don't know a thing about hair washing fetish bit if suds are a part of it you can always simulate it with a lot of movement and rubbing. That ought to generate a good amount. If you have a spare doll with synthetic hair fibre, try it out on that first to test it out.
I love this forum.I swear, I learn something new every day.

I wear a synthetic on cam and I wash it every week with shampoo.Granted, its not on my head (I wash it in my sink) and I dont scrub it vigorously like I do when Im actually washing my real hair,I just kinda swish it around in the sink water and may repeat a couple times if its extremely oily.My wig has held up just fine-Ive been wearing the same one for 8 mths. Most of the time I add a small amount of conditioner after rinsing all the shampoo out. When Im done washing it though,I always add shit to it to manage tangles and make it soft. The johnsons or suave detangler that most of our mothers sprayed on our hair when we were little works wonders.Ive heard fabric softener works just as well,if not better.Ive used wig spray, lotion, keratin spray, even makeup primer because of the silicone. All work well for detangling except for the wig spray, there are a few out there that are ok,but several of the ones I have dont have the most pleasant smell and can be a bit oily.
Also, the METHOD of detangling goes a long way. Many steel wig brushes will fray wigs, its best to stick with a wide toothed wig comb.Ive found almost any kind of brush just doesnt work with mine. Also, combing from the bottom and working up to detangle first makes a major difference. It can be time consuming but brushing it out like you would your own hair can easily damage it if it has any knots at all.
I fear the dreaded hair washing question lol, such a pain in the ass for us wig wearers.Does your customer know you wear a wig?Im assuming not. If hes specifically asking for hair washing, and not just a shower show then its considered fetish.Fetish guys are extremely particular - they can get very picky, which is understandable, its their fetish afterall. If he has a hair washing fetish, then its pretty safe to assume hes gonna want to see some suds action, probably quite a bit.I dunno if he would be 100% satisfied with anything that doesnt create alot of suds like shampoo would?
Keeping that in mind,is he a paying custy? Ive had some guys with some major serious/specific requests that have seemed truly interested in a show, only to fall through at the last minute and leave me looking like an idiot. They just simply wanted me to say that Id be willing to do their fetish on cam,and talking about it even that briefly was enough for them (even through just PM's) So Id make sure hes really serious before you try any of the above suggestions.
There may be other ways around it,Im sure there are if you research/experiment enough but if it were me, Id tell him he needed to buy a block show - atleast 30 min,if not even a 45 or 60 min one and then Id pin the ever living shit out of that wig to your head and wash it on cam with a gentle shampoo.(Maybe research ways to get the most bubbles out of the least amount of shampoo or adding something to it to create more suds that wont hurt your wig at the same time?) Then Id rinse it out WELL after the show and condition and tangle treat it to the 9's,get a wig comb and comb that baby til not a knot remains.
Do you have a backup wig?How much did your current wig costs? Major factors to consider - if the scrubbing action ruins your wig, will the money he pays be worth it ? Will it buy you a new wig and still give you plenty of money left over for actually doing the show and going through all the effort? If not,Id pass. I dont know how many times Ive had to pass on requests that Im sure I could have banked off of but they just werent practical and they werent for ME.I just chalk it up to the game, sometimes its just not worth it.Youll have to decide if he is or not.
Good luck and you may find some other tips in the wearing a wig on cam thread.Ill try to find it - but you could always go to my profile and look way back on some of my past posts and find the thread,I know I commented several times on it.

Thank you so much Briadda! You always give such wonderful thorough posts!
No he doesn't know I wear a wig.
I will definitely look into the products you mentioned, I'm new to wig wearing and have a lot to learn!
He is on MyGirlFund and has all excellent 5 heart ratings so I'm not worried about him just wanting to get off talking about it, and with MGF you can only buy blocks of time anyway so it should work well in that respect.
Honestly, my wig was $10 including shipping from ebay. I asked some girls here how it looked and they said it looks good so I'm guessing it doesn't look like a $10 wig though, ha!
Even if whatever I do does ruin it I won't be upset, especially because he'll be spending enough to more than make up for it, but of course I want to avoid that if I can.
I do like wig shopping though... so I won't be that sad if I have to shop for a new one hehe
I never thought of having a backup wig, definitely doing that!
Thanks again for the great tips!

Aww,oh just stop it you, youre making me blush in my sexy paynties
Oh yea,Id def go for it then.Just remember to PIN PIN PIN and to not scrub so hard around the edges that it starts to pull them out lol thatd be a dead giveaway for sure.Honestly,if it were me,Id do a practice run off cam.You never know what may go wrong that we havent thought about.Plus, you wont be so nervous when you do the actual show,as youll already know what to expect.
I cant say for sure since all wigs are different, but my wig is CURLY, i mean almost what youd consider full ringlets and its always bounced right back.I do try to "recurl" it though by twisting the curls some after washing and securing with bobby pins until its dry.Ive also skipped that step and theyve went right back to almost their original shape.
The main thing that changes a wig besides friction, which causes frizz,is HEAT.Some cheaper wigs dont hold up as well under even low heat - mine isnt expensive by far,I paid like $50 I believe, but its also made of a japanese synthetic that was made to withstand low amounts of heat up to 180 degrees. If yours is just simply wavy,I would think it SHOULD be ok,but thats what the practice run is for![]()
How to Wash a Wig
I've used this tutorial on many of my cosplay wigs before with success, although most of mine are heat resistant kanekalon, I do have a couple that aren't heat resistant, but the dryer is optional. I've found with long hair washing shows and videos that usually they want me to use a lot of foam and soap, and sort of pile my hair on top of my head like in a shampoo commercial, if that makes sense lol.
I've sold quite a few hair washing customs, most wants lots and lots of bubbles. Double shampoo, the second time the bubbles get even fuller.
Conditioner dosnt sudds up well
I had a shampoo fetish guy as well a few months back. He got a private and wanted to see tons of suds and bubbles. He kept asking for more and more shampoo haha. I don't wear a wig normally but I do have one and its a short straight Bob type. I never attempted to wash it while on my head but I have washed it before with regular shampoo and conditioner in the sink. If its just a $10 wig I wouldn't worry about it. Try to do the show anyway but shampoo fetish guys usually do like lots of suds. Rinse after and condition and rinse. I wrap in a towel and press down/blot and have even hair dried it with a blow dryer but mine is straight hair wig. Since yours has a wave I would towel blot and let air dry. If it ruins the wig just get another cheap one.
I know one guy on MGF who's into hair washing. If it is who I think it is, he wants a TON of suds. Simply going through the scrubbing motion won't satisfy him, he likes all of the soapy bubbles that you can only get from shampoo. I've also done videos for him using body wash which produces a nice lather, but I don't know of that would be any better or worse for wigs than proper shampoo. It might not be who I think it is, though. Sorry, I don't have any wig care tips.

I ruined a wig by using regular shampoo so I bought some special wig shampoo like this. Works great too.

If it's a synthetic lace front that you can use heat on you can wash it and glue it down. I'd glue it down or buy a synthetic wig that has full lace all over it. The fabric softener soak does work. Also, you can actually put heat on any wig if you do it right. Wet the wig (dunk it in a fabric softener and water basin/sink several times, rinse, and pat dry) and set your straightener or curling iron on very, very low (go up if needed) and curl or straighten. Heat can do wonders but make sure the hair is wet first and do a strand test first.
During chemotherapy I lost my hair and bought synthetic wigs. I paid £200 for each of them and would never use anything other than specialist wig products on them. I swish rather than "shampoo".
But at $10 (that's about £6) I'd shampoo with all the suds I could find! What he pays will easily replace the wig.
