I start out back in the golden age of Myspace. I would play around with the coding to make it prettier. Then people would see my page and be like"do me do me". So I started charging $25 a page. And I branched out from there. There's a ton of wysiwyg html editors. Even free ones! I would recommend wysiwyg editors for a newbie. It stands for What You See Is What You Get. You can copy and paste a hosted image and in a split screen you are given the coding for the image. It takes patience to learn it, but most anyone can do it I believe. Youtube tuturials is another tool to learn from. People take a lot of time out to explain things on there, because eventually they hope you will sign up for one of their affilitates. It wasnt until I had been at it for a few years that I took a course in school to learn more complicated stuff. I couldn't figure out Javascript on my own to save my life.

But my favorite free program right now is Expression Web from Microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl....aspx?id=36179 There are others but for a free program you cant beat it. If you dont wanna spend the money on Aobe Dreamweaver thats a great option.

As for photoshop another expensive program, there's Gimp http://download.cnet.com/GIMP/3000-2192_4-10073935.html

You wanna make a quick banner or gif image photobie http://download.cnet.com/Photobie/30...-10387625.html

Of course you can get all of these things from a Dreamweaver package, but it adds up.

I know my way around gimp, but I'm kind of looking for really advanced stuff. I'm not too familiar with photoshop but I'm learning.

So are you looking for something more advanced than photoshop? Im confused. Thats top of the line unless you want to someone to build you a custom program. Freelancer.com is a good place to look.

Kind of. Just different beasts. Photoshop tutorials (good ones), and being able to build and manipulate paysite splash pages. And Premier Pro tutorials. That kind of thing. Advanced graphic design mostly since CMS's are available for purchase and installation.

GR: I think you are not getting the type of responses you wanted because the title of your thread is misleading, you say "101" when you really mean 202 or 303

Honestly, you should be working Lynda.com inside and out. It's ALL there, sweetie! I've been a professional graphic designer and art director for 15 years–web and print–and there is no single better resource. The first month is free, so what are you waiting for? The Photoshop classes alone will take at least that long if you are really dedicated.

PS If you want really advanced PS training, Kelby is another great resource. I still recommend you do all the Lynda courses first, and keep in mind Kelby is geared toward professional photogs. Their tutorials are great, though, so I also wanted to throw that in there!

It's one free week now, and it's just $25 after or $37(30something) if you want downloadable tutorial material and to be able to download the tutorials. Again, I believe lynda.com is the way to go.

For me I had to learn web design in graduate school for my master's project and I went from there. I learned HTML and then used both FrontPage and Dreamweaver. I was lucky to have had a job after grad school that taught me other programs like PhotoShop, InDesign and Flash.

Thanks, did not know about the free month changing to a week. Still, if you had a week with a lot of downtime you could soak up a lot in that time.

I've been using it for years without the downloadable material–I don't think it's a must-have, but if it is you can always upgrade for a month for that purpose. It's totally worth the $25–it's info that will pay for itself many times over.

I have over 100 videos and stuff. Plan to have much more than that.
Aww sorry to hear you had a bad experience with RT, I had a friend who recommended me to them, but I have never done business with him...agreed with the sites being a bit out-dated, but if looking for something simple, a design along these lines will do the job Always remember, that navagation of the site is key. Keep it simple, no matter what the cost....also make sure you will be able to edit the splash pages and keep them fresh, this is where most designers get you. The splash pages are often very heavily edited, layered, and have graphics that prevent newbies from really being able to be hands-on unless adding video or pics to their members area. I know how much of an undertaking this can be, it will relieve alot of stress from you purchasing the site with the company you plan on working with You will definately need to work on that content stash. If you update the site once a week with a new picture set and video, those 100 videos will be used up by years end. If you open a members site, you are competing with ladies who have had them up for YEARS with a seemingly unlimited amount of new and old content. The key is to shoot, shoot, shoot, content for a few yeas worth, change up your looks, shoot shoot shoot some more, change up your look and shoot shoot shoot some more so you can add content that looks fresh when in reality, it was shot over 3 years ago When you enter the members-area market, you are compteing with girls who have over THOUSANDS of videos and picture sets....You must start with HUNDREDS!!!! While the company is working on your design, shoot. Shoot a ton of candids, and homemade amateur content too, just doing everything, doesnt have to be porn. Members want to get to know you, your naughty side and the real you SHOOT IT ALL, even in PJS and making dinner lol. If you do not want to share this much, you do not have to but you are obviously willing to open up to your fanbase even with the thought of a members area Candids/real life stuff will occupy alot of space in your members area Also do cute things like have stories, a members only blog, etc...this stuff will keep the site fresh and new, and you can update it the opposite week of updating a pic set or video, thus keepin the site fresh and members entertained in another way

Wishing you the best of luck with your endeavor, I am in the beginning stages of the same and excited

Remember that any courses you take and programs you purchase are tax deductible, save your receipts!

I don't learn that way. I like school, but I'm probably one of the few oddballs who prefers giant classes with only a few detailed/hard projects (no busywork), and rarely attending lectures so I can learn how to do it on my own. That's the only way I graduated TBH lol. I have to teach it to myself or I won't learn it. The classes I have done the worst in are the ones that were the smallest where I feel like I got too much attention from the teacher. So that's why I prefer things I can kind of do... anonymously? And when I feel like it. Its probably an aspie thing, or maybe I'm crazy. Or both.

But I need to know where to start. I think I will try Lynda.com to start! Let me know if you bbs have any books you recommend.
