    Default shaving pubes is hell...help!

I haven't started dancing yet but I got a Brazilian wax in preparation. The problem though is that I don't know if I can maintain the cost of getting them regularly (nor do I want to endure the pain). I absolutely cannot shave...I've tried lotion, oil, astringent, everything. I have REALLY sensitive, fair skin that's extremely prone to infections and irritations. I mean like, I get rashes just from scented laundry detergent. I've had hair follicle infections that swelled up to the size of golf balls and I had to go to the emergency room. My hair is extremely dark and course so just the act of shaving is traumatic to my skin, and I have to shave every day because it grows back so fast. I guess that's what I get for being half French and half Comanche.

So my question is, does anyone else have this problem and have any advice? My plan at the moment is to just keep getting Brazilians (and hope I make enough money to cover the cost) but I really need to move away from that. Of course permanent hair removal is ideal but it'll be years before I can afford that. I hope someone out there can relate!

I get a Brazilian every ~3 weeks and it's 50 each time, I have money set aside for that and a few other appearance - related expenses and it never has set me back financially since I started dancing.

Waxing isn't ideal if you strip regularly since you have to let the hair grow out to a certain length, so just something to keep in mind. There are lots of tips on making waxing more bearable on here - rubbing on deodorant after, various products, etc., etc.

I havent shaved my bikini area since high school because I get ingrowns real easy. I used to used nair creams but the smell was horrendous and I guess my skin to sensitive for such harsh chemicals. I tried waxing in college and like it better than shaving and hair removal creams.

Maybe one day soon I can get laser hair removal but until then I wax every 3-4 weeks and yes its pricey but worth it.

Just consider it the price to pay for beauty.

laser hair removal? unless you want to rock the bush, then getting a special shaving gel with aloe in it has helped, getting very new/sharp high quality razors and then putting deoderant over the bumps.

laser hair removal is cheaper, $200 (normal price, you can easily find discounts) lasts 2-3 months and after 6-8 sessions almost all of the hair will be permanently gone.

Forgot to mention I go to a waxer who uses hard wax instead of soft wax, I often work same day because hard wax hardly irritates the skin and doesn't remove skin like soft wax and sugaring do.

Have you tried using an electric razor? Like one a man would use to trim his beard? I have super, duper pale, ultra sensitive skin as well. When I first started dancing I had horrible reactions to waxing and regular shaving methods. Then I tried an electric razor and its been a miracle worker for me. No more break outs/rashes/infections! It's easy to use, has worked on my fussy skin, and it gets a close shave. I literally used my last electric razor (which btw was around $19) for about 3 years before I had to get a new one.

I'm super pale + dark hair and sensitive skin. I have to soak my skin for a while in a warm bath first. I use baby soap when I shave because most shaving creams dry my skin out. I also use a male's razor (Gillette Mach 3), as I've found they last longer and produce a better shave. At-home waxing that area really sucks, and I agree with shanna about the time needed to grow it back out. If you decide to shave again and notice an infected follicle, I recommend spot-treating it with tea tree oil. It's an extremely effective anti-fungal (fungus often being the problem behind folliculitis).

Apply roll on deodorant after you shave, I've no idea exactly how it works-but it does help prevent irritation! Also, if you go red or bumpy after shaving and have to work-just cover it up with make up! Your body will get used to it in time and calm down. Otherwise, why not try laser?

I'm with Charlotte. Plus you sound like the perfect candidate for laser since its most effective on pale skin with dark course hair. Also it seems to be most successful in the bikini and underarm areas. With my experience it was really effective.

I used to get ingrowns alot and then I read Jenna Jameson's book and followed her suggestions.
Shave with neosporin. Buy disposable razors, through it out after you use it.
Apply neosporin to the area again after the shower.

waxing hurts and laser is expensive.a pack of 24 razors can be as low as $8 and neosporin $5.
I read the suggestion to use Ban after shaving, I might try that out too.

I'll never run out of good things to say about laser hair removal. I know you said you don't have the money right now, but try to save up for laser as soon as you can! Even just ONE treatment makes such an enormous difference. Yes, there will still be hair there, but it grows back so much finer and sparser and is SOOOOO much easier to shave. Try to get in for just one treatment if you can afford it, it will change your life! Like someone else mentioned, you have the perfect skin/hair color combination, so it should work extremely well.
For now, when you shave, try not to shave against the direction of hair growth and even though it won't be perfectly smooth, it will reduce irritation and no one in the club will be able to see it.

Ok since no one else has mentioned the most easy option- if you hate shaving and waxing hurts why not do nothing? lol Grow out a sexy lil chia pet to keep your hoo-ha warm at night haha I will just say Ive seen a few dancers who had bushes and they kept that shit trimmed and neat and guys were fine with it. If your crowd is especially older men then don't worry. If it is an all nude club though you'll have a problem... So shave around the edges and low enough to have nothing popping out of your thong would be my advice. I used to be very anti-bush (thought of hairy beav creeped me) but seriously I stopped because of an ingrown and never looked back! I actually think it's quite sexy now and can't imagine going back to stubble all over. PRO bush!

Laser hair removal! Saved my skin. I used to get horrible ingrowns even though I'd shave rarely and super carefully (use lotion, exfoliate between shaves, etc.).

You can either buy a package of sessions for LHR, or buy sessions as you go. Mine was $1400 for six sessions, and 95% of the hair is completely gone. They can even leave a landing strip for you if that's what you want!

Plus, you don't just see the results after you've completed the sessions. You wait 6-8 weeks between sessions, during which your hairs fall out naturally. And the hairs become noticeably thinner and lighter as you go. The results last until you go through hormonal changes, which can trigger hair re-growth (e.g. pregnancy). Best $1400 I ever spent!

Furthermore, you're an ideal candidate for LHR - super dark hair, super light skin.

This is precisely what I did before I started dancing! Every man (or woman for that matter) I've ever been with has stopped and kinda looked at it, then said, "I don't know...I think it's pretty hot actually!". My boyfriend actually got into bush porn after he met me. I didn't do ANYTHING to it, not even trim. Only in the summer did I get the hair that grows actually on my upper inner thighs waxed off, because I wasn't interested in families at the pool seeing my pubes. But yeah, I have lot of hair and I don't care. Most people think it's sexy once they get over it. And if someone thinks a clean, healthy, natural bodily phenomena is revolting...well they're probably not the type I'd get along with anyway. The ONLY reason I'm trying to control the hair now is to dance. $$$$$

So I've been shaving with disposable razors and Neosporin like Misskatia said, it actually helps a lot. My skin is a little irritated but no more ingrowns. Not perfect though, so I'm going to start saving for LHR. Thanks so much everyone for your help!!
