    Default eye lash growth/latisse

has anyone tried latisse? i did a search and didn't find anything..my eyelashes on the top are so sparse from constant use of fake lashes at work. and i hate lash extensions, they made my eyelashes even shorter and i couldn't use mascara. i also have "hooded" eyes so the lashes are short to begin with.
i also hear latisse can possibly turn eye brown if they aren't pure true blue..i have half green half blue eyes, did it turn any of your eyes a muddy brown? i wouldn't really care i guess but it would be good to know. any other suggestions for lash growth besides latisse? i hear emu or castor oil works but i can't seem to find any.

It does say on the warning label that it can turn some part of the eye the brown color that is irreversible which idk if id wanna risk it. Have you tried eyelash extensions? not the glue ones but the expensive ones that are like 2-4 hundred for the 1st application and 50$ for refills? they are supposed to be good. Also, I think that side effect doesnt happen often but maybe only every once in a while I know several girls who have used it and loved it. Ive not known anyone who used it and had that happen but u never know..Anyone else?

yeah i've used the extensions and they fucked my eye lashes up even worse..and i couldn't wear mascara over them so they were worse than having my real short lashes lol. i didn't think they were worth the 200..and the glue stings your eyes like crraaazzy. tears were running down my face. i know the latisse is around 100 bucks though around here

you got the wrong ones, you shouldnt feel any glue, you can still wear mascara, and there shouldnt be any damage to your real lashes. id recommend seeing a dermatologist/esthetician who works directly with or works with someone who is licensed to do eyelash extensions to set up a consult.

I did a search on this a few days ago, and there are actually a lot of threads. I may have searched "revitalash" though, now that I consider it. I'm thinking of trying revitalash instead of latisse because it's less expensive, doesn't require a prescription, and doesn't come with the risk about eye color. Also, from what I've read, revitalash lasts longer than latisse, though some users who don't comply with the recommended use of latisse applicators claim they can stretch the product a bit longer than 30 days. I'm pretty vain and will shell out a lot of money/time, but I'm not sure I can spend the $100+/month on something that has no permanent effects.

I actually noticed some lengthening when I habitually used Dior's lash primer (the one that is often sold in conjunction with DiorShow mascara). So, I'm hoping something super moisturizing like revitalash will have a similar result.

there are many different companies who make eyelash extensions. the quality ones require everyone to be specifically licensed thru that company to buy and apply them. the crappy ones dont care!!

I definitely recommend it, but for most people the routine of putting it on nightly and having to wait 16 weeks to see full results is just too much. Mine have grown so long that with mascara most people think they are fake! Not only did it help with length but I definitely have more lashes than before I started. Simultaneously I use Organic Cold-Pressed Castor Oil at night. Helps keep them moisturized and also helps them grow.
From what I understand, Careprost is much cheaper than Latisse and comparable, but there is no true generic Latisse. I don't think Careprost is approved by the FDA either. However, all user reviews I've seen seem positive (though those are obviously easy to fake). So, I guess I'm curious as to why you'd use Latisse instead of Careprost given the price difference if both were good products.

I have never tried latisse, but I did a bunch of research on the eye color thing.
Here is what my understanding of it is. Bimatoprost is the drug in latisse, the same drug used to treated glaucoma under the name Lumigan. There were no reports of eye color change as a side effect of Latisse, but because it IS a documented side effect of Bimatoprost when used as Lumigan, they have to include the warning. The difference between Lumigan and Latisse is that Lumigan is applied directly into the eye, and at a higher dose. This is considered a common side effect of Lumigan, shown in between 1 in 10 and 1 in 100 people. Darkening of the iris only occurred in people whose eyes already contained brown pigment.

Hope that helps. If any of my info is wrong or outdated please correct me... I researched this probably a year ago so maybe things have changed.

Here's an applicable part of my post in the Lash extensions thread
Skin Rules" written by a Dr Debra Jaliman..
She named a few lash growing products: Latisse, and over the counter products: RapidLash, RevivaLash. Also LashDip, avail. in salons, coats the lashes & give the appearance of wearing mascara for several weeks

As a side note, I tried something different with my nightly routine recently and found that within a month, my lashes started growing in thicker and longer. Noticeably so! I sound like an infomercial, but it's true.

I started putting on an undereye cream as a preventative measure for aging. I just tap on and gently rub in a small amount under my eye and I also put a bit on my eyelid. Within days of starting this nightly routine, my eyelashes started becoming more receptive to the mascara I'd put on them (they curled more nicely and were less prone to clumping). It's like my eyelashes needed a conditioner (similar to hair). After about a month, my eyelashes became noticeably longer and more lashes were growing in than before. The lashes were stronger, too.

It doesn't seem to matter what kind of undereye cream I put on - I've been using Burt's Bees and have been alternating with other creams. But the effect has been pretty crazy. Even my partner noticed them! I kind of look like I have (reasonable ones, not Katy-Perry-esque) falsies on after applying mascara.

I thought this must be a fluke, so I stopped using the undereye cream when I was dealing with moving. And within a month, my eyelashes went back to how they were before. So now I use the undereye cream all of the time, and the results have returned.

    Cray-cray.

I should mention that I haven't noticed the same effect with my eyebrows, unfortunately. I wish I had bushy eyebrows that I could tame down into shapely black caterpillars, but alas, I was born with fairly thin ones.

^I think a lot of that has to do with the moisturizing, like I mentioned with the DiorShow primer. I've been considering trying castor oil before I invest in anything pricey.

I've actually been using Ardell's lash and brow product for the past week or so, and today, I noticed that this annoying bald bit I had in one of my eyebrows has two hairs growing in. That area has been bald from an unfortunate over-plucking incident for quite a while, so I'm happy it's finally improving. My outer corner lashes have a bit of additional length to them too, but nothing amazing. One reason I really wanted to try Latisse is because it supposedly darkens lashes in addition to lengthening and volumizing them. Being naturally dirty blonde and dyeing my hair dark, I can't leave the house without my brows filled in and my mascara applied. Or, well, I can... I just look like a sleep-deprived alien.

yes me too, I barely have any eyebrows! I hate it, I was wondering if anyone here who has used latisse or something like it has used it on eyebrows?

My friend uses it and I would say she had average to thin lashes to start with. They've gotten a lot longer and look really defined when she wears mascara. I've used it before in the past and my eyelashes start growing longer within a week. I have really thick/dark eyelashes to begin with though and it took my friend a few months to see a real difference. It lasts forever, she's been using the same bottle now for two years.

Careprost works just as well imo. If you order from a foreign pharmacy do not use your real credit card (and esp never a debit card). Some of the pharmacies like Alldaychemist have had issues with credit card fraud. Get a prepaid credit card from the drugstore (it has to be one that can be used for online foreign purchases) or go to your bank and ask for a travel prepaid credit card that you can use for online purchases anywhere. The one I got from my local bank was called global something or other. Just get enough on the card so that you cover your purchase and shipping.

I've read on other forums that it does work for eyebrows.
