They probably made her sign release forms. What I'm wondering is why it took her so long to sue. This happened in 2011!

" not a professional dancer"?? as in she didn't study dancing at a dance academy or she's not a real stripper..

No... I think she was involved in some sort of competition. She was allegedly a trained aerial artist...
"She actually studied in school to train on this sort of aerial apparatus, with hopes of performing in Broadway shows and circus acts. She wasn't a professional exotic dancer but entered the contest at a friend's invitation." http://articles.philly.com/2013-02-1...se-club-dancer

How the hell did she NOT notice it was sharp when she first grabbed hold of the thing, before even putting her weight on it?
ETA: Whoa, whoa, whoa! This bitch was TRAINED to use the damned thing? ROFL!
Exotic dancing is like any other job.If you work in an office, you wear dress shoes and a suit.If you work in a restaraunt, you wear skid resistant shoes and a uniform. If you work in a strip club, you wear 7" stilettos and lycra g-strings.
I wanna know what this girl was doing that led to her falling to her death!

To be blunt about it- she shouldn't be pissy about getting hurt while doing something that OBVIOUSLY put her at risk of injury, but do keep in mind that I'm a "thrill seeker" and subscriber to Risk-Aware Consensual Kink. As some one who believes very firmly in "if you can't stand the heat, get the hell out of the kitchen", I don't think she really has any room to be mad at the club because SHE chose to attempt a stunt that was obviously dangerous and got injured as a result. I think she has even less room to be angry about it when you account for the fact that she was TRAINED to do this stunt and still decided "oh, that's sharper than it should be but, oh what the hell, I'll do it anyway!"
It just sucks that it was an injury one would typically not expect, versus falling and breaking a bone.
On top of all this, she participated in ANOTHER contest, held by the SAME club she's suing! She obviously does not see a major issue with their safety practices if she went back to compete again the next year after having her thumb reattached.

Ouch, this story made me cringe! The club sadly wouldn't be responsible finically or otherwise for most incidents/accidents that happen within the SC doors (regardless of weather the club is open or not). Somewhere along the line she probably signed something that concreted that, perhaps the competition entry form? There may be a loop hole, so hopefully she gets some kind of compensation.
I bet the aerial hoop is still at the club and still sharp. SC's and OH&S do not go hand in hand

Update:
Was told at Delilah's last night that it didn't even happen in the club, it happened while she was practicing off-site.
