Question Can I wear a wig for my audition?

so i am currently researching different clubs and basically getting the nerve to audition. i'm really, really excited, but i do have one question for you guys because i am kind of clueless so far:

once i start dancing, i plan on wearing a wig regularly. maybe different ones, idk. (and i do feel very strongly about this, so while i am 100% appreciative of and open to any advice, i really am very set on wearing wigs.) is there any reason why it might be a bad idea to wear one to the audition(s)? should i put it on when i change into my costume, come with it on (that seems sort of silly now that i'm thinking of it), or just save it for after i get hired?

i'm sorry if this is a stupid question! i just really don't want to look dumb at the audition. and of course if you have any other advice it's welcomed (: thanks!

Probably. As long as it looks normal enough.

As long as you're planning on wearing a wig whenever you work, that's fine. It'd be unfair to audition as a long-haired blonde and then show up on the first day rockin' a 'hawk.

Yes, lots of girls wear wigs all the time, some girls wear the same one everyday some wear a different style every day of the week. Just make sure it is securely attached to your head! For your audition, show up in your cutest outfit with your hair and makeup completely done. So yes, wear your wig when you come in from outside. Once you're hired though, you can show up however you want and get ready in the dressing room before your shift.

I wear wigs all the time ( even when I'm not working, lol ) and yo should be fine to audition in one. When I first started wearing them I would put a profuse amount of bobby pins to secure it and shake my head as hard as I could to make sure it didn't slip. I've never had one fall of and I do a ton of pole tricks.

Tons of dancers wear wigs, so as long as it's a good look, go for it. Wigs usually take some time to secure, so I'd recommend putting it on at home so you're not wasting time at the club.

As long as it looks natural and you intend to wear it for work (or something similar), why not?

I did it with a long black wig. They still let me work anyways. To the OP just make sure you have it on securely...trust me having your wig come off sucks.

If you aren't used to wearing a wig, wear it around your house and while you're out doing some errands to get used to it. That way you can get some idea of how it looks, feels and flows in all settings. Like Tempest said, having a wig come off is embarrassing! You may end up thinking it sucks. I personally give off a lot of body heat, so it gets hot under there. Half the time I end up taking it off mid shift and become a new dancer lol
Also, find out if the club prefers a particular look. I know my boss will hire purely off of hair color, body shape, eye color, etc, depending on the current roster, but once you've been there a couple of weeks she doesn't care if your look changes. (Change can be good sometimes)
