    Default Discouraged

I work in an urban club and usually do really well $$ wise mostly off foreign or white guys in the club but last night I did HORRIBLE, I only made 100$ after tipping out everyone. I believe the reason was there was only a small number of white and foreign guys in there and the ones that were in there were not spending. This is not the first time I did bad at this club, it seems to just happen randomly and I never know when its gunna happen, it sucks. Anyone else's club like this? I guess I am just used to my old club in another city where I never did bad, I always banked. I just get so discouraged when I walk out with such little money, and it makes me feel ugly or like something is wrong with me. So the last time I did bad at this club it was bad all weekend so I am just not going in tonight and hopeing it will get better by tuesday which is when I usually work again.

It's been bad lately at my club, too, and it makes this awful cycle of doing bad-->feeling bad/acquiring a bad attitude-->discouragement/loss of hope-->doing badly again...I'm also at an urban club, and I'm also more comfortable catering to the white, Asian, or foreign crowd. I've noticed lately that I'm so accustomed to just skipping over everyone else, even when my "crowd" isn't there all night! I've given up on even trying to hustle Mexicans, and I don't know when that happened! I'm gonna try to not caste-type the custies tonight and just give an equal hustle to everyone and see how it goes...

It's the nature of the industry that the bad nights are random and unexpected - just as the good are. That's why it's so important to save when you have the good nights so the bad nights don't affect the rest of your life. As for dealing with bad nights, just remind yourself that you normally have good nights and even look at your week's earnings instead. Plus, depending on how long your shift was, $100 is still a lot more than you'd made in many other jobs. Just put things into perspective and be positive about the next shift.

LOL. I also skip everyone else, I skip all the wanna be bdoys and all that. And I too have been hustling the mexicans, when the others arent there but man last night there were barely and of them in there either, it was like all the broke people said lets go to the club! ugh sucks.

I am seeing that is how it is at this club I am at, I mean I will consistently do great and then all of a sudden boom a night like last night, 100$?! really? So does this happen to you and if it does is it usually one night like that the next night is good? As I said in the op, my last club was consistent, in 9 mo I had one terrible day, but I moved so I cannot work there anymore. Thanks for the positivity, I need it!

Mexicans can be cheap sometimes, but once mesmerized they can spend some big bucks. Try hustling them too.

    Good luck!

I definitely second this. You need to get worried if you consistently DON'T make money. Just remind yourself that they don't last forever! There are always going to be 'all I want is a dollar dance' nights, but take them as they come and save, save, save! I automatically put 1/3 of my earnings into savings to cushion the bad nights.

I can understand wanting to stay in your comfort zone with customers, but if its slow do you try talking to all customers? I like my older men but when there are only 20 customers, I'm asking every single one if they want a dance because you might find that random guy that wants to empty his wallet for you. The club I work in is small, only open on weekends and I don't work enough to cultivate high spending regulars. So I can understand feeling like crap when the bad nights occur.

What I am seeing personally is most nights being bad nights..They are the majority..Not the minority..Thats what leads to burn out and hating coming into work. This is the case for alot of the girls in my area..Im not saying all of them..But alot...No one wants to work as a result..We all despise going into work.

Sadly, I see this for myself and several other dancers in my area..Not saying every one...but quite a few...

Weve all had crappy nights. It is a good idea to record your earnings...at the end of a week add it all up & divide by # of days worked.
Say you made $100 crap night & $500 another, working 2 nights=$600 dividrd by 2=$300/night...that doesnt look as bad, eh?
