I completely agree. I saw someone say that she was afraid to post threads when she was new, and it shouldn't be that way. I don't want new girls to feel unwelcome or afraid of "angering" anyone. We already get judged enough in the real world, for some of us this is the one place we feel "safe" ... anyways, you said everything so there's nothing more to add to it, but I agree with everything you said.I hope no one took offense to my gifs in a couple newbie threads, I was just trying to make light of things.
I mentioned to Lusty earlier that I thought this forum is starting to turn clique-ish ... I hope I'm wrong because I love it here. I've been here for 2 years, and I haven't noticed this clique mentality until just recently. When I joined the forum, CC wasn't clique-ish at all ... I'd just like it to be how it once was. Welcoming to everyone, not scaring people away.
Also, this post isn't directed AT ALL towards "Common Newbie Camgirl Questions" that TwistedPrincess posted. I thought it was very helpful and informative and had great information. Just an FYI, I wanted to add it in case she reads this.
Ah, well. Here is my opinion. I don't have any hard feelings towards ANYONE here.I just hope we can be a welcoming community again.

Honestly, I'm a new model and I have been very intimidated! I've searched though the forum but often still have questions, but am to chicken to post about them.Glad to see some change might be comming
!!!

^ Yeah, see, that's the thing ... when I was a newbie this forum wasn't intimidating ... at all. And trust me, I posted really stupid questions, lol.
I think there will be change.![]()

I see what you're saying. The thing is that a lot of the most helpful threads on here have been knocked off of the page 1/page 2 thread list by newer threads asking many of the same questions. I think that when we get new threads on here saying "New camgirl...tell me everything I need to know!," that is a bit silly to expect people to answer that (again) in full detail...when we can just type "Hi, welcome to StripperWeb! Here are some helpful links you should check out."If you word it that way, it doesn't come off rude at all, and it's being friendly and helpful.
If a new poster posts a thread with the title "Guy on MFC wants to do Skype and pay via PayPal...should I tell him no?," an appropriate response would be "Yes, you should tell him no, and have him pay via MFC tokens. PayPal has a strict policy about no adult transactions and will suspend/ban your account if you use it for adult services. Here are some links to other threads on the subject. Good luck, and welcome to StripperWeb!"I think this is a good example on how to respond, and I can't imagine that anyone would be offended about the 'replying with links' thing if we went about it that way.
Thread questions like "Just started camming...will I be recorded?" and "How do I get Gold shows?".....those questions have been answered tons of times in other threads, but the thing is that some of the most useful threads may not even be on page 1 of the thread list anymore. Some of the best, most helpful threads on here have like 100+ pages to them now. I'm wondering if we should even start a part 2 of The Streamate Thread...kinda like how there's a 'Daily Model Pondering 2.0' thread on the AC Forum (the original DMP thread had tons of posts, and a new one was created).
That'd be cool if The MyFreeCams Thread, The Streamate Thread, The AdultWork Thread, and maybe the Raise Your Rates! thread were stickied. Streamate is probably one of the top subjects on this forum (there are separate threads about SM Gold shows, SM tags, etc.), and I know The Streamate Thread is several pages long. Sometimes you really do have to use the search function to quickly find your answer within that thread.

Welcome new girls & those who aren't new to camming but are just finding this forum.
Lusty, I think a balance just needs to be struck. A lot of those old threads ARE very useful, and if people post in those old threads when they have info to update, then they won't be old, outdated threads.
On the other hand, threads like the Streamate thread, for example, are too long & clustered because it's a mixture of helpful info and complaints, a lot of which are one-time issues. And... there's no need to be rude to everyone simply for asking a question.
I am guilty of being less than patient with the questions. It can be very frustrating. But I think we should try more, on the whole, to be more patient & welcoming.
@TheBrownFox: We posted at the same time & said pretty much the same thing. I think you worded it better though. Thanks![]()

You know what's funny? A little while ago I was searching on here for The Clips4Sale Thread, and I was like "WTF...where is it???" LOL. I hadn't realized it was moved to a different area of the forum.I was using the search function, but I was searching under 'Camming Connection'...that's why I couldn't find it.

Very well said. I have been a lurker since 2011 and recently got involved with posting... and those 'look it up' gifs are beyond rude and unhelpful to me. I feel that if you have nothing helpful to say, it is better off not replying at all. CC is very cliqueish whether we want to admit it or not. Just because we help new girls and simply give them all info we know, does not mean they will take all the money away and we will make nothing. This field requires more than just knowledge to make it. I find that skills I learned during my struggles with food addiction have helped me greatly in my first month of camming so far. Yes, the industry is saturated, but that is where things like discipline and determination can make or break a cam girl in these uncertain times. So even if we share all we know about camming with new girls, satistics about the industry and human nature in general reveal that only a small percent of people will be high earners in any given field... I am glad for one to see a CC veteran publicly make this observation. Just for the record, I did not feel welcome when I joined verified, and I find new requirements to join it downright cliqueish. New girls by definition do not have the ability to contribute as much, and with CC being dead with posts full of 'look it up', no real discussion can occur, and no thanks can be gathered. I voted against new requirements for this reason, because with me not being an escort or dancer, I had no interest or business in sections other than CC, and I am sure I am not the only person in this situation. I am going to grab preparation H now, in case my butt is going to hurt soon from sharing my opinion above. lol

I mentioned verified because although I enjoy posting in CC, there aren't always threads where I can contribute, because it is not as active for new threads, only threads that already have 20+ pages and concern seasoned cam girls. As a newbie here, I felt I had nothing good to add to that. A safe haven for cam girls should exist whether they are new or seasoned. At the end of the day, we all have the same concerns. My biggest pet peeve about 'the topic' as you said, are those unhelpful look it up gifs. That is all.

If we had it so that Verified was super easy and quick to get into, we might have some creepy/stalkerish guys on here posing as females trying to get in. In fact, we did just recently have a guy on here trying to pose as a female...lol. More and more people are finding out about StripperWeb, because there are models talking about it on Twitter (which is pretty much inviting all their followers to come on over and lurk), people on other forums talking about it, and may be models even talking about it in their free chat.

True @Lusty and thanks for bringing this out in the open - SW / CC can have a mean girl vibe towards new ladies which is very sad - we were all new at one time - When I came on here I had never really participated on any forum or really read them - I had no idea how it functioned - where or how to find stuff - what the hell was a sticky - what was proper "forum" etiquette - etc etc ....... With out new blood the forum will become stale and boring - as Lusty said it used to be full of interesting industry discussions - The first steps into any area of the adult industry can be very intimidating and is a life changing step on many levels - why not help and support those trying do it the right way by using this forum and looking to the wealth of knowledge found here from you ladies - make something positive in an industry that can be full of negative

"" not being an escort or dancer, I had no interest or business in sections other than CC,""
At first I was very locked into just reading cc but if you venture out there are many other areas of the forum with useful relevant information and from perspectives other than just camming
The changes were made for verified to protect the integrity of the group not to be cliquish - a lot of very personal details are shared in that area - one of the entry questions that we voted on was to have a group vote to allow new members in - that was NOT voted in to effect - if it truly was cliquish then that would have passed

For all of you complaining about "cliquishness", I ask you: what do you have to contribute to me and my knowledge of camming? You want new material? Bring it. I post all the time details that are some of my most intricate tactics and practices. I have little tricks that I sprinkle around, in threads, constantly. If chicks weren't so married to their sites habits and willing to branch out, maybe it would get picked up on more. But hey, I know what I have to offer. Everything I don't post is deeeeeeeep strategy and only shared with a few valued colleagues (who rarely even frequent this board). No, I'm NOT spilling my guts in "verified" and word on the streets is, there's nothing new under the sun happening in there, either. Just sayin'.
I'm sick of newbs complaining primarily because there has always been camming on SW. I joined in 2007 and started camming around early 2009. Everything I learned about camming (including how I met the first woman who took her work very seriously) came out of SW, and I'm sure it's still applicable and floating around now. There were even fewer camgirls and fewer lucrative sites to choose from. MFC wasn't even that widely used (not by many SWers, at least) and back then, the debate was whether using NF's phone w/cam made you a legitimate cam-girl or just a PSO! LoL! Seriously, people hadn't even begun to actively invest time and energy into projects like Clips4Sale, at that point. There was a lot less to work with. I completely disagree that information in links is "outdated". Technology and sites' functions have changed very little, in the past four years. This goes the same for many site's user policies and TOS. The very basics is still offered in those same threads. I've said it before: READ MORE.
After that, it's up to YOU to get creative and bring something new to the table. Don't feel like you have something to add? Well, that's because you probably don't. Even this post is copping out. Honey, how do you expect to get "seasoned" if you don't read what concerns seasoned cam-girls? Read what's there and follow those examples. Find what works for you, specifically and adjust your practice. When you strike gold, you'll know! Then you can decide if that's information you'll want to distribute, yourself or will you keep your cards close? Maybe you'll share with a crazy anecdote or maybe you'll start a whole thread spelling it out, how you got there. It's up to you. Just because I don't post a thread entitled, "How to Make Bank on 'XY'-Site, Using 'AB'", doesn't mean I'm not sharing new info. Read closer. It's there. I see it all the time. Maybe it's stuff that's applicable to me, maybe it's not but I know useful information when I see it.
Personally, I want to raise the bar, in camming. I think the shitty economy has lowered the value of our work and cammers have been put in a position to create a sustainable formula to keep afloat in an over-saturated market. There isn't a lot of room to relax and get creative, when you start out, and I understand that. But I see a serious lack of creativity and initiative amongst "newbie" posters. Many of you are coming to camming having never worked within the sex industry before and are totally bowled over by what's been put out, here. Honestly, you should scouring SW in its entirety, for information on hustling, how to dress, how to scope out whales, EVERYTHING. I don't think you've even scratched the surface of this site. As long as I see whining newbs crying about how they don't get it, I'm going to continue to reiterate that they aren't trying hard enough. I'm Hell-bent on correcting that behavior, when I see it, from now on. You're looking for a breakthrough that only you can bring. If all you want is to vent and get moral support... well, start a support group.

This was my first forum too, Nikki. Thanks for pointing out that it might not be that people are just new to this board but to forums on whole.

I love this!!! I love this forum and read it 1,2,3 times a day but I guarantee if I wasn't so worried about drama or saying something that might rub someone the wrong way I would be at least a featured member by now. I read cc at least 5-7 months before I signed up and like a year before I cammed I remember threads that are on like the 200 and something page. I can understand some new girls coming and asking questions and girls giving them the cold shoulder or girls telling them to look it up because I can bet anyone 5 dollars I can find the same exact question in the first few pages. I done extensive research here and have a full notebook of my notes and ideas and there is no reason why someone can't research just like I did before I started I had 2 jobs and went to school but that didn't stop me from finding what I needed.
I wouldn't be 95% of the camgirl I am if it wasn't for you ladies, this place is a freakin gold mine! It just sucks to know that some new girls don't know what they got when they find this place. FYI new girls reading this the search function is weird just google "stripperweb then your question" 9 times out of 10 I find what I need. I hope to contribute more to this site now because of this thread. It's my new favorite BOOKMARKING!

I do not agree with spoon feeding - But - If you take the time to post a - google it gif - or look it up - use search reply - does it really take that much more of your time to add a couple of extra lines of politeness or a reason why ? Ask them to look it up and then get back for a more detailed discussion or to clarify anything that they did not understand - I have done searches on here and as someone else said 50 pages threads are cumbersome to search through and may not really yield the answer - I think one of the point's is to interact more with the new posters rather than just the impersonal google it responses -

As a noob I totally get why no one would want to share info with me when I can look it up. I've already asked a few questions that maybe I could have found answers to had I kept looking longer. I did try, but I think I could have tried harder. And I am now! I've been reading so much I think my eyes are starting to bleed.
After reading this thread it's reminded me that since I've started camming I kind of feel a bit lonely and strange. I like the guys I cam for, for the most part, but it's awkward. I think I'm looking for a sense of CAMaraderie somewhere (and I'm hoping it can be here), and I'm just trying to get past the initial awkwardness of being a new cam girl. I know a lot of girls who have been in the business had to tough it out when they started, so I do feel like a squishy, weak puppy who's only looking for hand-holding. I'm glad for the girls who post things that are tough and mean, because some of my customers have been tough and mean too. And I've read some amazing advice from the "meaner" girls. I read some amazing, and quite vicious-sounding, advice from vivianbear just yesterday, and I took notes. If I can't handle reading a vicious comment here, how can I handle a vicious customer when I'm on cam in the nude? And I'm also thankful to those who have been nice to me and answered my questions, and even my rantings, when they didn't have to. It certainly eased a lot of anxiety I was having.
It doesn't amount to much, but this is my two cents as a new girl. I adore this forum and every single poster, whether mean, nice, or neutral.

Once again, WHY should we clarify something that's already been clarified time and time again? To be polite? Half the time, it's someone asking some hypothetical question about only beginning to cam. Why invest time and research into a response when they may or may not even be doing the job, at this point? What you're describing is also exactly what happens but chicks are even more generous than that! Not only do they suggest looking it up and coming back for clarification, they will post the actual LINK to expedite the process! All newbie has to do is click and read, at that point. At some point, just posting a snarky gif keeps some people from becoming bored to distraction. I personally appreciate a cammer having taken her time to seek out the most relevant gif to project her annoyance than any re-hashed response. THAT is creativity.
I think you've just touched on the biggest problem: STOP looking for the "answer". It's NOT there. All we've got is tips. TONS of suggestions for you to go through and permutations to try, while you find your own sweet spot, in camming. There is NO answer on how to do this work. You can only try what others have laid out, as a foundation and modify to your own experience. Once again: STOP LOOKING FOR THE END ALL/BE ALL ANSWER. You won't find it, I promise.

I'm thinking about writing an all-inclusive copy-and-paste introduction to the forum for any new girl that comes in and posts.
"Hi _____insert name here_____! Welcome to StripperWeb! Before asking anymore questions related to camming, please make sure you have exhausted these links, as it can be overwhelming for the veterans to spoon-feed all of the answers."
(Insert like six links here)
Let us know if you have anymore questions, and if all else fails:
(Insert lookitup.gif here)
It's foolproof.

If you can make this same statement using only gifs, I would be extremely delighted.
But really, don't we have "stickies" at the top of this forum that do exactly that? "Hi! You're new here. Here's stuff that we talk about ALL the time (links). Here's stuff we talk about some of the time (links). Other than that, please use the search function." Isn't that what those are for?
