If you worked in a club that was considered a sh*t hole, the management sucked, the girls were catty/unfriendly, the facilities and VIP rooms are filthy, the clientele was sketchy, BUT you still made pretty good money and had some decent, normal regulars, would you stay despite all the negatives? Or would you look for another club that had a more positive environment but you're less likely to make as much money?

    Define "pretty good money"...

If I could make comparable money elsewhere (within $100 a night of my previous average at the other club), then I would leave. The mental comfort would be enough to validate it.

If it was the only money-making place for me in the area, then I would stay and just keep to myself.

I'm talking anywhere from $300 being the lowest I've made to $800 being the highest. To be honest, I haven't tried any of the other clubs in the area yet, so I'm not sure what the earning potential is there.

I was a waitress at a shithole for ten years before I started this so I don't see why stripping wouldn't be the same...haha. Why don't you work one or two nights somewhere else and see if it feels right?

Why are you so sure that you'd make less money at a nicer club?

Anyways, to answer your question: Yes, I would stay. But I would come in with hair and makeup done, I'd have an outfit ready, and I'd get out of the dressing room and onto the floor ASAP and get to work... and never stop working until my shift was done. Time flies when you stay busy. Beyond that, I'd get some hand sanitizer to protect myself from filthy facilities.

I'd also check out other clubs to see if it could be possible to make the same amount of money (if not more).

i probably would stay, just for the most part avoid the other dancers ( you're not really there to make friends so its probably better keeping to yourself anyway) and try to make as little contact with the management as possible. However, if you feel very unsafe there, i would leave. you should look into other clubs and work at both at the same time and see which one you like better, thats what i've done about those kinds of clubs and realize i can actually be making money elsewhere and then leave all together

Honestly, that's currently where I work. The name of my club is really just a fancy name for 'brothel.' As a clean dancer, you can imagine how I feel about that whole thing. The management is basically robbing girls in house fees, charging girls for dances they didn't do, all that jazz. On top of that, the whole place is filthy.

Coincidentally, someone suggested I audition at the super nicest club in the area, on Cinco de Mayo, since they serve alcohol and my current club doesn't. Somehow, I made it in, and just did a contract with them on Monday.

I'm so happy I tried out over there. The girls are fantastic, the management is nice, the customers are friendly (with the exception of the one drunk guy who told me to go away, but whatever! He's entitled to drink alone if he wants to!), the place was so friggin' clean. It was like dancing in a dream club, or something out of a movie. My mind was blown. On top of that, the house fees were basically non-existent.

That said, I don't really understand the hustle very well there, and I feel really out of place... kinda like I'm the scuff on some other girl's shoes, if you know what I mean. Obviously, I was hired, despite being under 21, so I know that's supposed to mean good things for me, but jeez, I just feel... dirty.. I guess, in comparison to some of those other ladies.

That said, the working environment was fantastic, and all the negative feelings I have about the place are all coming from me. So my advice to you is to try out somewhere else. You might find the shithole club more comfortable, or maybe you'll like the cleaner club, better. I think it's all a matter of perspective, and how comfortable you can make yourself at either place.

^ Yup, this sound like my club exactly. I'm doing a club tour of my surrounding area this Friday, it's hard for me to just jump head first into a new club, so I'm going to visit a few as a patron beforehand. Hopefully I'll find what you found!

I work and do really well at a seedy dive, but then again Im also cool with the staff and girls. Try another club and see, ive tried some of the nicer clubs and like the other poster said sometimes couldn't figure out the hustle to save my life and when I finally did, I still would make more at the dive consistently vs good nights at nicer spot were up and down. Plus if I had a REALLY good night it would take me busting my ass plus having to work long shifts to make what I can make at the dive in 3-4 hours. Sometimes you want the glamour and to be able to say I work at a certain club of prestige, but if its not making you the most money then whats the point. You could also do both. I always work a nice upscale club, and dive wherever I dance.

If I had tried out all of the other clubs and the money was significantly better at the shit hole, and the shit hole was not dangerous but simply annoying, then I'd stick it out. Since you haven't actually tried anywhere else and earn a fairly big range (ie. not the same high amount consistently), I'd say give another club a shot for a shift or two. No need to quit the shit hole in case the grass isn't greener, but there's nothing wrong with trying out other places. Club loyalty is barely worth a dime, and other clubs might have much higher (or at least more consistent) earning potential.

I work in a shitty, gross club with a staff full of assholes. There's another, nicer club in my town but the hourly average income is close to $100 less. Money is my priority, so yeah, I would absolutely take that over a positive work environment any day. Figure out what your priority is and pursue that.

nope. i consider my mental health way more important. with shithole clubs especially around where i live, they tend to be rally small and overstaffed so theres plenty of toe stepping and being dragged into other peoples drama. since they had a more 'flexible' hiring standard and almost impossible to get fired from, ive seen every thieving crackhead come through and i just cant relax in my 'regular' life if i feel in danger or threatened at the club, which was a constant source of anxiety and bullying. the money wasnt worth it. yes it was good, but that was two years ago and i dont have any of it. only the memories. imo if i can cover my living expenses, have money left over, have flexible hours and enough money to cover course fees and materials theres no reason to get greedy. sure its good to have more felt over, but im not a career stripper and i refuse to destroy my mental health and wellbeing over money. its a serious tradeoff worth reconsidering. id try and make do with the club i feel happier and comfortable in and the money will come... if youre intimidated/anxious/edgy/unhappy theres no guarantee the cashflow will keep you coming in at the shithole club...

You hit the nail on the head, Anouk. I worked my very last shift yesterday and felt great to walk out of there for the very last time, despite the money. I saw my favourite customers for the last time. The last dance I gave to my ATF customer, a girl that was in the chair next to me was screwing the brains out of a customer, porn style and everything. I don't know if she was doing it on purpose because she knows I'm a clean dancer, and was showing me that this was 'their' club, but it was the final straw. I went to the DR, threw on my clothes, and stormed out without paying the DJ fee, met up with my ATF customer who took me out to an amazing dinner to celebrate. To add to my confirmation that I was making the right decision, there was a used condom next to my car in the parking lot.

^yeah, that's some good signs to get out of there.
That was nice you could end it on a relatively good note with your ATF.

He was a doll! Definitely take him to your next spot. Keep in contact with your regs, they may be willing to travel. If not, you can line them up every few months for a week in the shithole. You'll be so busy visiting with them and banking with them that you won't even notice the douchebaggery around you!

Remember, if you are leaving a club, you can poach your regulars!!!

If you haven't tried other clubs, I would give it a go first - just so that you can make an informed decision. After all, what if you could be making more somewhere nicer?

If you have a look around, and find that you are actually right in thinking that you would make less anywhere else, then I think it would depend on a couple things, for me.
    1. Do you feel safe? There is a difference between working in a dive, or dealing with bitchy girls and asshole managers....and actually fearing for your safety. If it is dangerous, no amount of money is worth it.
    2. How long are you planning to work for, and how often? If you are just working a couple shifts a week over the summer, or for a short period of time (finishing school, saving for a goal) then yeah, stick it out. But if you are planning to work full-time, long-term, I would think that it would get to you over time, and wouldn't be worth it in the end.

I dance in one of the dirtiest clubs in my area (mind you I'm a clean dancer, no extras whatsoever), and I make really good, consistent money. Whereas I've tried to work at nicer clubs nearby...the money I'd earn at those places isn't half of what I make at the hole-in-the-wall club. Since money is my motivation, I go where the money is.

If you can ignore what's going on around you when you are at work (the drugs, outright prostitution/extras, lack of sanitation and overall drama), I'd say stay where they money is. However, your safety is important. If you physically do not feel safe inside of your club, or when you come to/from work...I'd bail. I worked at a club where people got shot in the parking lot. I left that club that night and never returned. Putting my safety in jeopardy wasn't worth the money I was making at that particular club.

Just be safe and smart. Always keep your eyes and ears open, and do what's you feel is the right thing to do.
