Thumbs up Update - had my audition yesterday!

So I got up the courage to go in for my audition at the local gentlemen's club yesterday. I bought 2 thongs from a local store that sells costumes and lingerie ($7 each), wore my own set of 5" heels that I've had forever and just a basic bra... makeup a little heavier than everyday but nothing elaborate, hair just straightened. pretty simple stuff. They had me fill out a contract when I got there outlining club rules and what was expected of me and all that, then told me I could watch the girls for a bit if I wanted or I could just go on next. I've been to the club a time or two so I basically knew how they danced, and had been watching videos online and practicing in the mirror so I just had them put me up next so I could get it over with without too many people watching (I think we had 2 customers in there at the time? Pretty slow. I went in super early for just this reason) And they seemed to think I did just fine. I just kept it slow, the DJ was great about picking easy music for me, and I got $10 my first time on stage (which was apparently good for that early in the day and my first ever dance.) There were 3 other girls starting last night so I was far from alone, we were all talking about it and helping each other and several of the more experienced girls were happy to help teach us tricks and one even loaned me an outfit halfway through the night so I could switch up my look a little. Everyone was very nice and supportive, first few lapdance customers were generous with their direction (telling me to lean back or reassuring me that it really was OK to put my weight on them when I straddled them etc. I'd never done any of that before with anyone but the husband so I wasn't sure lol) but I didn't have any trouble making sure they got what they were expecting and I knew the house rules to begin with so nobody took it too far, it was good. They let me watch the monitor for a few private dances in the upstairs full-nude two-way contact section so I know what goes on up there as well. That's not required but I will do it, it's damn good money and not so different from any other lapdance, so no biggie. The club manager told me he'd like me to work 3-4 nights a week, so I guess I'm officially a stripper I'm so excited. I took home pretty decent money for my first night and a Thursday, so that was good too. Hubby took me to town today to buy a second pair of heels (closed toe, so I have 2 different ones) a few more thongs so I don't have to wash the same 2 over and over, a couple bikini tops, a pair of daisy dukes that I made even shorter the second I got home, and a little plaid skirt so I can do some mix and matching and keep things different all night.
I had planned to dance tonight too but I am BEAT UP. I cut my thigh with my heel when trying one of the spins another dancer was showing me, didn't even realize till the blood dripped down my leg, oops. That's bruised bad today, plus I am sore where my knees made contact with the stage and also the nape of my neck from another move I apparently did a little too much. Then there's the all-around exertion soreness, my thighs, shoulders and arms are screaming, but it's a good kind of sore. I'm taking today off to drink tons of water and have a warm bubble bath, then going to work tomorrow and Sunday nights with my sexy new outfits and lots more confidence. Seriously one of the best things I've ever done for myself, and the money is better than I expected and it only goes up from here because I had no idea what I was doing tonight LOL. By the end I was making really solid money though, I wish I had picked up on a few things sooner because I think I could have almost doubled what I made last night if I hadn't wasted so much time being nervous and shy, but it's all part of the process. Every one of those dancers said $300 is about normal for a slow night, a little less if you didn't have money up front for your house fee (they charge an additional $20 if they have to take it out of your tips) but I think I can do well at this, so it's good. I just thought I'd update and let everyone know how it went. I'm far from an expert, having only worked one 9-hour shift but I'm happy to answer any questions as honestly as I can for any other nervous newbies if it will help encourage them to go for it too!

Oh, and I had a list of potential stage names in order of preference and my top 5 were taken!!! Bummer, but I"m cool with what we ended up on.

My top five were Daisy, jasmine, Jolie, Hollywood and Tallahassee. I ended up with Tallahassee because the first four were taken, but since I've been telling my buddies about my new job I might change it. I was just trying to find something sorta unique that sounded country (because I like to dance to country and that goes over well around here) but they all said it brings to mind zombie land and the big redneck dude named Tallahassee. So I have been trying to find something more feminine.

Congratulations! Sounds like a successful first night! Tallahassee is cute, but after a couple days you are going to be extremely sick of repeating yourself and answering dumb questions about your name! Pick something that is easy to understand, 2-3 syllables. Something like Penny, London, Tracy, Scarlet, Katy, Taylor, Roxy, Kitty, Sugar, Baby, etc.... names that people have heard before and won't have trouble remembering or understanding! Also, a 9 hour shift is kind of long! No wonder you're sore!

Congratulations and glad to hear your first shift went well! There is a big learning curve and you'll likely pick up the hustle quickly, so don't fret over "wasting" your first few shifts because you didn't know any better. It's a learning experience and there are many nights ahead of you to make money during.

I also really recommend changing your stage name from Tallahassee - that's not only hard to remember, but really annoying to repeat over and over again, especially over loud music to people who won't be able to hear it. Keep it simple.
