Default A few questions about lower scale clubs..

Hi! I have a few questions about working in lower scale clubs, from what I've read around here i think they're referred to as dives... Correct me if I'm wrong lol the club I'm talking about specifically is Pink Monkey in Chicago, from what I've read on here it isn't the most upscale club

    - Would you say it's best to work far from where you live or does it really matter? The club i have in mind is only 10 minutes by train from my apartment, which is great for me because I'm a college student and I don't have a car.
    - What makes lower scale clubs so bad? Excuse me if I sound ignorant but is it the quality of the dancers, the security or just an overall bad atmosphere...?
    - I know you all aren't the managers/bosses but you ladies have all the knowledge! Do you think I could fit in as a plus sized dancer in a lower scale club? I don't start work until July but I'm already pretty active, and plan on losing more weight in the future, plus I'm tall (5'9") (pics attached)

    Thank you in advanced!

Hi, I don't know anything about the Pink Monkey specifically, but yes, I think you would do just fine at a dive! It seems to me that men love curves like yours.
Dives/lower scale clubs are not bad at all. Many girls prefer working at them. They tend to have not the nicest appearance, not be the most clean, or updated furniture, etc. They usually have lower hiring standards, lower house fees, more bar regular guys that come in and have a couple drinks almost every day. They also may have fewer rules or rules that aren't as strict as some of the larger "genltlemen's clubs."

    Hello,

Honestly I think working in a dive is a great way to get your feet wet if it's your first time dancing. Working closer to wear you live could be an issue if you're worried that someone you know will see you. I actually used to work in a club that was ten minutes away from my home by cab, so I always wore a wig and a lot of makeup just in case I ran into anyone I knew there, so you could try changing your look so you won't get noticed. I haven't had any issues while working closer to home. Oddly enough it was when I worked in a club much further away from where I lived, I recognized someone from school.

As to what makes lower scale clubs so bad, it depends. I've worked in both dives and upscale clubs and I found that the income potential is sometimes lower in dives. Dives attract more blue collar workers and they tend to not have as much money to spend at the club than white collars. I've found the kind of customers they attract to be a little more rough around the edges. Dives tend to be smaller and less fancy per-say.

But I will say I absolutely love dives. I've found them to be less stressful to work in and have more of a relaxed atmosphere. House fees are generally lower and they tend to have less strict scheduling than some of the upscale clubs. I've worked in a dive primarily while I was in school and it worked great for my schedule because I could call out if something came up unexpectedly. I also had the benefit of dealing with less bullshit and drama at that club, it was bad enough that my program was very stressful in itself.

As to getting hired, I noticed dives usually have girls of all shapes and sizes so you should try it out.

Dives can be great in terms of money and low-pressure working atmospheres, so they're not all "bad." Some certainly are since they're dead, but not all dives are created equal. All you can do is check out the club and see how it goes - same for being hired since we have no idea what standards the hiring manager has. In some clubs, you'd be totally fine at your size, while others would reject you. Again, not all dives or clubs in general are created equal. Hell, not all managers are created equal within the same club - one might hire you while if you'd go while another was in, you'd be turned away.

^There's no need to travel for work unless you have to. Most ladies only travel to work if the clubs further away have a higher earning potential or they work in small towns (and don't want family and friends to know about their jobs). If the club you are looking into is only 10mins by public transport away then you can always catch the train to work and a cab home if you don't have your own transport.

Check out the links posted by "aperfectseal" for info on dives or do a search for yourself. There's heaps of info' here and you should find what you're looking for.
As for hiring bigger girls-lower scale clubs or Dives are more likely to hire bigger girls.

I'm hoping that some of the clubs I plan on trying on my road trip this summer are gonna be divey bc I always do way better working at them than upscale places. I feel more relaxed & plus if you have nice curves such as yourself , you'll do just fine I have curves & I'm 5'8" with a booty :p Good luck babe!!!
