Default Dancing with crazy colored hair

I did some searching...surprised that I couldn't find an existing thread on this!!

The club I am back at now really doesn't care what your "look" is - thank god! But I am moving in a year or so, and was thinking about how hard it might be to find a club elsewhere that will take me...I'm heavily tattooed, and have recently gone back to doing the "crazy hair" thing - it's long, straight, and in good condition, but it was red-yellow ombre, and now it is dark purple...I'm a bit of an anomaly - I look more like those gifs of disney princesses with tattoos, rather than the typical "alt" type...but I know a lot of clubs will just flat out turn me down.

Anyone else work with a more "alt" look? Specifically in NYC, but any thoughts are welcome! Debating dying my hair back to a more natural auburn and wearing an outfit that covers most of the work for the first audition....and then gradually revealing more and more as time goes by and once the management realizes that I am a damn good earner...think that might work? Sneaky sneaky....lol

I had to look up the Disney princesses with tattoos thing. They still look pretty feminine to me, as long as you have the long hair. I was also thinking that if you do work in a club with purple hair, it might come off as looking black if the club is really dark.

I don't have an alt look, but I've seen the alt look done in NYC, mostly in the boroughs though. Hustler in Manhattan is okay with the alt look, so is Pumps Bar in Brooklyn. I'm not sure about Lace though.

    That's awesome! Thank you!

Yeah - I still look super feminine, and usually have fairly classy outfits (stocking and lingerie, rather than bikinis etc) - long hair, classically "pretty" face, all natural medium (C-cup boobs), etc etc. Some colors definitely come off looking brown/black...pink and green...not so much! LOL

Glad to hear that there are some that are ok with the alt look!!

Make yourself look more mainstream when going in to get hired/audition and then alt it up afterwards. I'm sure you already know that the more mainstream your look, the easier it is to make money since you appeal to a wider range of customers. Good idea on testing the waters at the club by slowly getting more alt, but I'd focus more on how the customers react to it (ie. how it affects your earnings) versus how management perceives it.

Yeah, as long as you have that feminine look you should be alright. I've even seen girls at Gallaghers that had some ink done, but they usually had a very feminine look that got them hired.

Funnily enough, I've never had it affect my earnings - in fact, where I am now, the majoirty of customers LOVE tattoos - and it gives you an automatic "in" for a conversation "show you mine if you show me yours" and an immediate way to initiate that little bit of contact - "some people say it feels different - what do YOU think?"...Maybe it's because I look so feminine and "pretty", and have super long hair and almost no facial piercings (one lip. a surprising number of guys don't even NOTICE it! LOL) but I think that only once has a guy ever outright said "sorry, the tattoos put me off".

I've also always noticed that when the hustle is spot on, having something that makes you stand out from the parade of barbies can work to my advantage - I've also seen it with the girls that have extreme implants, are ridiculously short/tall, or the one black/asian girl in the club - the one-offs (unless it is the incredibly ugly girl!!) always seem to do well because they stand out....

^Dying your hair a more natural colour would increase your chances of being hired and you can always cover your larger tattoos with dermablend or something similar for the audition.

I TOTALLY agree....but I know so many clubs that turn girls down for being "too tattooed", "too alt" etc. SO retarded! Glad to hear that there is someone else working with rainbow hair! Are you in the US?

Thanks for the thought...but I have a full sleeve, amongst other things, and dermablend really isn't that great...Besides, if I covered it for the audition...I would have to keep covering it for a while. And I really don't want to cover my entire body (well, vast chunks of it) all the time.

^That's fair. I currently work at a club where covering them up is the norm-it would be a task to do a whole sleeve lol! Hopefully you find a decent club that is tattoo friendly .

Sleeve and then some...by the time I get there, it would be ridiculous. I'm happy to throw fishnets over the leg ones, and I have fishnet tops that disguise the sleeve, but in VIP, it all gets revealed!!

You know those hot, tattooed, pin up types? Yeah. That.

Side note - I HATE seeing girls with dermablend over tattoos! I used to work with a few that did it, and it just looked weird..kind of like a big grey birthmark....and then it smeared all over the customers during dances!! Who wants to go home and explain dermablend all over their suit? HAHAHA.

huh, i've never worked in a club where tattoos were a problem. i don't imagine you'd want to work there anyways if they are that uptight though like seatort said. i know so many guys who think tattoos are hot, if anything it would make you stand out and earn way more! and as long as your hair was "done" and dyed nicely ( no big patches of parts you missed or big roots or cheap dye) i don't see why there would be a problem, especially considering the lighting in the club. don't cover up those beautiful tats! they are permanent, makeup on that large amount of area would look awful and get all over everything. im not sure where you are (canada?) but i don't think it would be a problem

I'm in Canada right now... I know that in London, a LOT of clubs won't take "heavily tattooed" girls - usually the biggest and best gown clubs (Stringfellows, primarily...Spearmint used to be ok with the tattoos)...in the city where I live now, there are three clubs, and one won't take heavily tattooed or "unrealistic" colored hair - it's the "upper class" one in the business district where the celebs and city types go.

I'm doing a little prelim research for NYC - not there for a while, but the extent to which I grow my online business is going to be affected by how easy it will be to find work in some of the Manhatten gown clubs. I'm all about the slow hustle and the business types, so I do much better at gown clubs...
