I was at the Lodge one night when Dennis Rodman was there. I mean there, right by the main stage, I was standing right next to him trying to get his attention... or any freaking one's attention at the table. As far as I know, he didn't do shit with any of the girls that night, he just kind of screamed at the jewish-accountant types at his table about how they were taking all his money and stormed out soon after showing up.
    Yes, I'm real.

I got plenty out of him when he played with the bulls. He use to come in the then crazy horse too with Carmen electra and I spent hours in vip with them. This was 99-2000 I believe. From what I've heard now he's a hot mess and walks out on tabs and stuff when he's in the clubs.

I don't think he has a quarter of the money he had when he was playing ball. He may be broke? His kids have nothing to do with them and the young ones haven't seen him in years.

He was in our club in DC around maybe '96 with his crew. Did not tip much, but was nice at least.

Yeah, he's in a bad place financially because he hasn't been able to make a go of sobriety for very long. And he hasn't made a go of acting either. He wants to be a star but doesn't have any other talent. He has very little self control and a huge sense of entitlement. No bueno.

I was flipping through channels a few weeks ago and he was on own. He wrote a childrens book.Lol. His daughter ( the oldest went to one of his book singings and he didn't recognize her( she's gorgeous) he went on to say he had not father and wanted to be the best father blah , blah and in the end it said he's had no contact or seen his younger kids in years. He also talked like he was bothered (his oldest alexa) that came to his book singing wanted a relationship with him. Yeah drugs have made him odd. He also said Madonna was like his true love in not so many words but yeah.

For many former pro-athletes, the financial picture isn't so rosy in their post playing years. According to a SI article, 60% of NBA players file bankruptcy, or otherwise experience major financial stress within 5 years of "retirement". For former NFL players, the numbers are 78% experiencing adverse financial straits within 2 years of retirement.
    I'm right 96% of the time. I don't sweat the other 5% .......................

Yep, so true! I watched a reality show, I forgot the guys' name..I guess he got some barbershops/endorsements, but he went from like a top guy to someone they didn't want to touch w/a ten foot pole. Plus he started getting older (30's) & needed surgery.

I never understood the Basketball Wives craze because of that. These guys generally have no idea how to manage their money so what's the point in "locking one down"? Most of them don't last in their field for more than 5 years and are likely to have lifelong physical ailments. Unless the guy's a star with a business mind, like Magic Johnson was, what kind of future could they have?

I have gotten widely varying reports on his behavior from my DJ friends. One night he apparently tipped a DJ 1400$ to play some Van Halen of all things. I think he must have been in a good mood that night lol.

But I have also heard he can be a total dick.

He was at our pool grand opening. Yes a strip club with a pool here in Vegas, Sapphire Day Club. He bought me a shot but towards the end of the end of the party he was kinda rude to me in front of my girl when I tried to engage him in convo. Guess he was sick of people coming up to him after a while. I didn't take it personally because I know he's one screwed up person in general.

Years ago (when he played with the Bulls)I heard he was generous and nice. I know someone who played for an event he had years ago as a DJ and said he was one of his favorite people. Incidentally about 15 years ago I planned a concert for a nightclub he was opening though never met him personally. I've heard though he hasn't gotten freaky.

There was a football player from the 1985 Chicago Bears superbowl winning team who later ended up doing something like construction because he was broke. This is common because many athletes think the money will continue flowing and often it doesn't. Someone I attended high school with was drafted by the New York Yankees and didn't play long at all (and may not have even been a main player)and ended up back in the same place, only now with no skill.

Because you don't accept PM's, I'll post it here.

Here's some basic details on pool that I can remember. They make you sign a thick ass contract and orientation so you know pool rules

-It's NOT topless. It's bikini or club approved pasties.
-Free house fee plus $25 VOUCHER before (I believe 1pm). After that It's just free house fee up until (I believe) 5pm. You also get free food/drink voucher.
-Pool opens at 11am, closes at 7pm, thurs-sun(I believe)
-You can only dance for customers INSIDE the club for MINIMUM of $100, basically 3/$100 dance room. Or they can take you to sky box at normal club rates.
-Security MUST escort you in and out of the club if you are doing a dance(s)
-You MUST check in at pool entertainer counter for your vouchers, wristband and they will hold your sherriffs card until you sign out. They will also give you free house fee/$25 with your sherriffs card when you sign out.
-You MUST stay MINIMUM 3 hours to earn house fee credit.

That's all I can remember for now. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Maybe they think they can take over the post-retirement management part (or convince him to trust honest professional advisors) before he does too much damage. A more cynical answer would be that some may be ready to bail as soon as they see a downward spiral begin, while there's still something substantial to split.

With many pro athletes they have grown up developing bad money habits, no real sense of the long term, and no Plan B or "exit strategy". (Also, as mentioned, very many of them do not make the stupendous scores of millions of the celebrity headliners; a few of the journeymen players will make huge bank relative to us Joe Schmoes for a brief peak time, but not really enough to retire living large and in charge when you're washed out before 30.)

But hey, the adventures of The Worm at Cheetah's would be something that piques people's curiosity all the same. The public would wonder if he were particularly strange even for the club and if he was tweeting to his buddy Kim Il in NK about how if he should make love not war.

What sucks is that so many of them end up with pretty bad medical issues long before their time. Who wants an 80 year old man's joint issues or brain dysfunction? It's a much lower quality of life AND it's VERY expensive. This one poor dude was a star athlete who ended up in a nearly vegetative state, all his money drained, all from the glories of football. It's hard to budget for a career ending and maybe life threatening injury unless you've amassed 7-8 figures.

Well I have certainly been known to blow a lot of cash when I was rolling in it--not like Rodman in his heyday of course, but a lot. But I would never cry later about being broke.

Not to make light of the prospects of serious injury though.
