Default Ever come across banged-up poles in clubs?!

I'm working at a couple of clubs right now - one that has stationary poles, and one that has spinning poles. And at both clubs, the poles are almost unusable because they are completely banged up. I don't even know how to explain it. They aren't smooth like a pole should be (they're smooth closer to the top where there's less wear & tear)...it's like they have hundreds of small dents in them. They look normal from far away - it's not like they're bent or anything.

I literally don't even understand how a pole could come to be in this condition. They're all either chrome or stainless steel (silver-colored metal). They also seem to all be perpetually greasy...not even an alcohol-soaked rag can make it easier to use them (I'm assuming it's because of all of the dents). And these are fairly nice clubs; it's not like I'm working in dives where they're using pipes as poles.

Has anyone else come across a pole like this? Do you know how this happens to them?

My club in Daytona had one stage w/ two poles, both static, that pretty much looked like they'd been found in a junkyard & mounted. One had a dent in it, just a bit above eye lvl, that was the size of a quarter. Seems one nite a very drunk dancer got angry, tried to take it out on the pole, & the pole won. She somehow managed to slam her face into it hard enough to kock out a couple teeth.

I've seen dancers kick at poles accidentally while dancing. (High kicks, leg hooks, etc.) Their shoes would smash into the pole. I chalked it up to drinking too much and diminished depth perception. I've also seen a pole or two come down on a girl for swinging on it too enthusiastically. The pole would be back up in an hour sporting a couple fresh dents.

My old club remodeled and spent all this money and reused the ancient beat up barely 6 foot pole so when they lowered the stage and put it back up it was wobbly as fu*k and didn't even reach the ceiling so they added a wood block to put it up. Cheap ass corporate club.

It seems more normal for a pole to have defined dents in it, like what you girls are describing. These poles don't just have a few random dents from the occasional crazy kick or drunk customer.

These have what feels like thousands of 'micro-injuries' that make the metal feel rough.

Yea the pole at my club used to be like that, they just replaced it thank goodness! I can't believe how much easier it is to stick to the pole when it doesn't have that "brushed stainless steel" look.
