Well, I adopt my bunnies always from a pet rescue. My last girl died, she was old (7). I would love another, but not in this room mate situation I'm in. I try to donate when I can, & they have events so..yeah I guess to some degree I am
MANY MEN WANTED TO LAY ME DOWN, BUT FEW WANTED TO LIFT ME UP
-Eartha Kitt

After having three malamutes, individually, over the course of 20 years, I have been a malamute rescue foster home for 12 years. The best part is seeing them having a fun expedition.
I volunteer at a wildlife refuge. That's not really rescue, but it seems like it might be kind of similar. We take in wildlife only (no cats or dogs or anything), animals that are usually injured, or abandoned babies. The vast majority of animals we take in we rehabilitate and release back to the wild. Occasionally we keep animals on as "residents" that live at the refuge permanently. Usually because they are too injured to be rereleased, or were part of the illegal exotic pet trade. I enjoy it a lot.
