Default straightening hair with no heat, teasing without damage??

so i heard this recipe on "rapunzels daughters" a hair blog on tumblr that if you mix a little bit of brown sugar with a cup of water and put it in a spray bottle and cover your wet hair, it will dry nice and straight. i haven't done this yet, i think it would make your hair kind of sticky! but i literally have to either straighten my hair or curl the rest of it because my hair is very coarse and thick and the top part is curly as hell but the under-layer is straighter. it also gets frizzy and helena-bonham-carter-ish. so for work i have no choice but to apply heat to straighten or curl it, and as im trying to get my hair as healthy as possible after bleaching the shit out of it , it sucks!!
so any other tips on how to straighten your hair without applying heat?
also, its getting long and i absolutely love the slightly teased at the top look, just a lot of volume at the roots..any good products to really give you volume without tearing your hair up? i used the new "flip and spray" from sally's but it makes my hair sticky and hard. ick!

Wow I am going to try that sugar tip this week and see how it goes. Do you a link to the blog you mentioned?

I use to have crazy thick hair and it was such a bitch trying to straighten it all the time with my shitty old straightener. Then I got a nume hair straightener on sale. Didn't realize how hot they got and that I should have used heat protectant. Like half my hair broke off and now I wish back the days I had my thick hair again. Oh well thank god for hair extensions in the mean time. I will definitely give this a go if it means being able to avoid using a straightener.

Years ago I saw something like rollers but instead of being round they were straight. You stretch your hair and clip them on to hold your hair straight as it dries. I saw them in beauty supply store.

To get curly hair straight it requires heat, chemicals, or gravity (something pulling/stretching it downwards) to relax it.

Maybe ask around at your local beauticians or hair/beauty supply stores

This sounds like a BAD idea! Everything your hair touches (bedding, couch, car) will attract bugs! Bugs love sugar.

What about a keratin straightner? My friend got it and loves it and we live in one of the most humid states and she's actually been doing her own hair instead of having it done at the salon which I've never seen her do. You wouldn't have to do as much to keep it sikly and straight so less damage.

I can't help with the straightening part but as far as teasing goes have you tried just using those bumpits? I've used those in my hair before and I thought they looked pretty good. They won't move if they are pinned well and you can't tell you are wearing one unless someone touches your hair, which idk if that is an issue for you at work or not..

I think something like the one in the middle would look natural.

^Yeah she paid 400. Let me know if you like it. I like my curl , it gives me volume and I'm afraid it might take that away and make it too silky, straight which I won't like.
