Default Customer purchased amazon item lost in the mail - What to do?

Ok so I really need some advice. Recently a customer bought me this dildo from my amazon wishlist in exchange for a discount on a custom video involving said dildo when it arrives. Basically I live in an apartment complex in Canada in kind of a rough area. My apartment building has no buzzer to get in, and there are locked mailboxes for everyone in the "lobby", which is where every single one of my packages from amazon has arrived (inside my mailbox, it's rather large so it kind fit a whole package and stuff).

So I'm checking the mail every day for three weeks and it still hasn't arrived, and the customer tells me that the tracking number has shown that it has been "delivered". So I figure it's just at a post office or something and maybe that little pick up slip thing has been lost, so I get the tracking number from him and the name of the shipping service, which is DHL Global Mail. I call them to find out where exactly my package is being held, and the customer service rep looks it up and says "oh...the report from the driver says he left the package in your lobby..." I'm like why would he just leave the package in a PUBLIC AREA. Obviously someone stole it! She was very quick to refer me to the actual courier service which is Can Par Transport LP. So I call Can Par and speak to another customer rep, who confirms that the driver reported that he did leave the package right inside the front door of my building. She said that the sender shipped the package with no signature required, and they usually just leave the package out front of houses if no one answers the door, but never apartments for reasons such as this. She said she'd contact the driver and get back to me the next day. She told me that they can't put the package in my mail box because only Canada Post has the key (why the fuck not just ship with canada post only then?? wtf is the point of Can Par if their so fucking incompetent??).

So the next day she calls me and tells me that the driver has told her that he had tailed someone into my building (that's really inappropriate, and as far as I know my phone number is listed a long with my address because I've been called by post men before when a seller's forgotten to include my unit#), went to my apartment, knocked on my door, and after no one answered, he left the box right outside the door to my apartment. She says I'll have to contact the amazon seller to file a claim with them. Now I'm really not good at arguing so I just said ok thank you and hung up the phone. But I know for a fact that the driver's new story is utter crap. First of all, if he did this, why not write it in the report? Why am I now getting a different story? It seems that the driver is just trying to save his ass once he's questioned about it. Also, I literally have not left my house during postal worker hours in the past three weeks. I would have heard him knocking (I'm kind of a shut in). I've also checked the mail every day so if it was right outside my door I would have for sure found it before someone was able to steal it.

So now, I need advice from you ladies I feel so bad for my customer because he probably thinks that I'm just ripping him off, lying about the package being stolen so that I don't have to make the video. He wants to just repurchase the same dildo but I'm afraid of this just happening again. In fact, I'm afraid of anyone purchasing anything off my wishlist because I have no control of how it's being shipped.

I really want to get my customer's money refunded. Should I contact the seller and ask them to file a claim? Should I contact Can Par again and put up more of a fuss? Should I just avoid the trouble because the cost of the dildo was only $15 and just refund him out of my own pocket? Has this happened to any of you apartment ladies before?

I'm not sure why you're having stuff sent to your house-- a. because your client bought the item so I'd be worried about him getting your info accidentally, and b. you live in a sketch place.

    Go get a PO box!

Also, Amazon is really good about getting stuff replaced. Did he buy it from a vendor or from Amazon? I would just tell them it didn't arrived and see what they say.

Otherwise, get the PO box, and have the client send it to your new box. See if he can challenge the charge on his credit card, but unless Amazon takes care of it, or his bank deletes the item, the item's been stolen and I don't think most amazon packages get insured sooo.....kind of out of luck there.

It really depends on how far you want to go and how much that package was worth to you. Sometimes amazon is really good about refunding money, but it seems like they're going to try to pass the buck here because it was completely the mail's fault. Say it was stolen and see how it goes with amazon. If that doesn't work, I would suggest you recall the Can Par. Record the phone call (and tell them you're doing so, tell them its because you want to make sure you have all the facts in case amazon has a problem refunding your money). Then ask to speak to the driver, or a number you can contact him at. Record his side of the story. Wait about twenty four hours and then call again. Say that amazon won't refund your money because it was Can Par's fault that they were negligent in letting the package get stolen. If they hem and haw and tell you no, tell them that you're going to report them to the Better Business Bureau and give them bad reviews all over the internet. Remind them that you have the recordings and you will give them to anyone who asks for them (with your name and of the exact nature of the contents of the package blurred of course) as well as link the recordings in all your reviews. If you go through all this and they still won't refund your package price, you can either carry out your threats (at the very least the BBB part) or you can drop it. If you drop it, I would suggest you take the $15 dollars off of the price of the video and order the dildo yourself through a different mail service.

Thanks so much! Should I have the client contact amazon since he was the one who purchased the product and would have all the information that they need, or can I do it?

Contact amazon customer support.. you can even use their live chat. They might be able to resend it for you. I did the same when a flash drive went missing and the operator resolved it within 10 minutes for me. It had read as delivered, but wasn't in my leasing office (where packages go). She had another send out for me.

However, since he's the one that ordered, he might have to contact them. But you can try anyway! It was ordered from your wishlist, so they would have proof it was going to you anyway.

The problem is that when something like this happens, when the guy contacts Amazon, Amazon might actually tell him that they sent the order to *insert your shipping address here*. So then the guy now has your address. On both camming forums I post on, people have said this has happened before (what I just described).

I even know of a cam girl who said that her boyfriend went to her P.O. Box to pick up her mail for her, and some guy was actually trying to follow her boyfriend there! I'm not trying to scare you...I'm just saying to be cautious. I stick with Amazon e-gift cards myself.

you can buy those kind of dildos in the sex stores. i would jus ask him to tip the $14 and go out and buy one. dont get shit delivered 2 ur door from amazon, the cusomter only has 2 ring up the company who shipped the item and ask what address its going to and he has ur home address.

Lesson learned, it will be PO box from now on I don't drive so I'm lazy as fuck when making trips to the sex shop. I don't like leaving my house
Anyway so I feel dumb because I didn't realize that livechatting with amazon to resolve the problem would be so easy, they just sent a replacement one no questions asked. However I'm still worried that the same thing is going to happen, ugh. After this package arrives (because the damage is already done, right?) I will definitely have stuff shipped to PO box

Thanks for all your helpful advice though! Even though the solution was so easy you ladies really helped clear my head and make me feel better about everything. I would never have known that customer support was so helpful on amazon without your replies, and I probably would have just not bothered and bought a new one out of pocket (probably would have dragged my ass to the sex shop after all)
So thanks a ton and sorry for making a thread over this

And I repeat...you could always just go the route of accepting Amazon e-gift cards instead. All you'd need is to give the person your e-mail address, and hopefully you have a separate e-mail account that you use strictly for camming purposes. Don't give them the e-mail address attached to your real name.

I don't drive either, and I choose not to purchase a P.O. Box for a few reasons. You never know what random shit someone's gonna send you in the mail, and like I said before...some guy followed another guy when he was trying to pick up his girlfriend's mail for her (his girlfriend's the cam girl who the P.O. Box belongs to). The boyfriend stopped his car and got out, and the creepy dude turned around and drove off. Scary...

That is true as well. I'll probably just go the giftcard route, however I'm still a little discouraged by shopping on amazon, atleast until I move to a different residence. Amazon told me there's no way to select the method for shipping, and I really don't feel comfortable with anything but Canada Post, in case a driver gets lazy again and decides to leave something out in the open.
I hate when people steal my dildos

Thanks again for your helpful advice!

There's a couple of online sites that offer P.O. boxes. They forward all your mail to your address..... Travelingmailbox.com, Maillinkplus.com just to name a few. Here's a thread on Mail forwarding.

Why would your customer see if it was delivered or not ? didn't he bought it from your wishlist ? ( if so, he wouldn't be able to access this information) if he see it is delivered it means he knows your address ? !! anyway Amazon Always replace items if they got lost, just let them know)

Because Amazon could end up blabbing shipping info to the customer who's nagging them with "Did you guys ship her item yet?" emails. It's actually happened to cam girls before. No bueno.

I bought something from Amazon today and noticed they recently put a warning about people being able to see your address when purchasing from a wish list.

I've actually had this happen to me. A guy bought me stockings but I never received them. He had asked me about them, and I told him, "Uh..yeah..I never got them."
All he did was contact amazon, and they resent another pair to me

Tell the customer to contact amazon and they will re-send. I've had that happen before, and it was deal with really quickly.
