Post Finally figured out the encoder on SM last night =)

I finally got the encoder to work for me on SM last night. I was so excited for myself I couldn't believe it lol. When I saw myself and I heard traffic entering my room I was like no wayyyyyy lol
For some reason though I have to manually type in that blue text into those two URL boxes, it does not let me copy. When I go to click to copy nothing happens. Has anyone else had that issue? So strange.

Anyways the main question I wanted to ask is ------> has anyone noticed their computer get really hot really quick since using the encoder? Omg mine got so hot last night to the point where the charger stopped charging! (have a MacBook Pro btw) I had to shut down and wait a good fifteen minutes. I did have it running for most of the day though so that could be why too. But wow it was like all of a sudden it got so hot. I am logging on in about an hour so I shall see what happens.
I did notice a difference in traffic. It seemed to work good except after about an hour there was a three second delay which was really annoying. I logged off after that cause I needed to go to sleep. Hope there is no more delay today.

K thanks for reading...hope your day is going great

Which Mac Pro do you have? I also cam with my Mac Pro i5, 2.5 Ghz and never have those issues. It does get warm but not to the point that I should be concerned about.

It's funny, I've got a rather crappy (although just a few months old) i3 desktop computer, and my CPU never goes up to more than 30% when using the encoder.
Then again, I'm using the low version of the recommended settings, so I dunno.

Hey thanks for responding...I have the 2 ghz i7 which I bought almost two years ago. \ I was just doing some research and depending on what you are running on a mac it can get quite hot. My cpu is reading 106 degrees F and where it says HD Macintosh it reads 86 degrees F to the right of that. I am getting that info from the Istat pro thingy...or app is that what it's called lol I am so not tech savvy this is quite the learning experience for me.
Camming is the most techy ish thing I have ever done lol so I guess when my computer heated up a bit more than usual I got worried but seems like it's normal. The thing that freaked me out a bit was when my battery was low and the charger was not charging...so I figured it was because the comp was getting too hot. Once I shut down and waited a few minutes all was back to normal.

I shall be logging on in a bit so hopefully all works out well.

    thanks again

    Natty =)

Nope, sounds like her processor is way on the low end and is over taxing itself, hence the overheating.

What's the OPs cpu usage while running the encoder and streaming?

Hmmmm well now that I have been streaming for about 40 minutes the cpu under temps went up. It is reading between 176 degrees and 185 degrees. WHy does that happen and how can i fix it ? The fans are about 3200rpm now...before was about 2000...
what does OP mean? sorry just not up on these abbreviations yet lol..I'm slowly learning.

    thanks again...
maybe I need another fan or something to cool it down?

hey thanks for the info...so i went to my activity monitor and under cpu where it says % user in green it does not go higher than 32. Is that okay? Also under process name where the Flash media live encoder is the %cpu is 261.2..but goes up and down a bit...what does that mean? I have to google that and find out what it is.

As far as glitching I think I am okay because I have had 3 prvts and one long exclusive the past hour ish I have been on. I asked how my video/audio is and supposedly it is fine.
I have read about a lot of other girls on here who have macs and don't really have a problem for the most part...or if they do it can be fixed.
See now my battery is only at 16% and I plugged in my charger and does not charge it. I think cause it is getting too hot. Same thing happened last night. I had to shut down, wait few minutes then once it cooled down it began to charge again.

ahhhhhh what do i do...although where there is a will there is a way!!! I hope lol

so I am reading about how Flash and Macs don't go too well together....if that's true how do I get around that? If any Mac girls out there on SM have some info it will forever be appreciated...thanks a lot

So I tried switching from classic to party chat to try a gold show and every time I do the encoder basically freezes up on me! That little rainbow circle thingy appears just turning and turning and I have to re-start my computer to stop it. Anyone know why that is happening?

thanks a lot for any info you guys may have

Hmm.... I use Macbook Air with I7 when am traveling. A PC desktop at home. I have noticed that at home I do great. When traveling with my Mac, I get lots of peeps in room but 0-Nil pvt/excl. I get comments that I am freezing up. The connection (wireless) at the hotel is faster then at home. If anyone has any thought or suggestions I would appreciate it. I use the encoder and party chat all times.

Get a cooling mat. I have a metal one with two fans underneath that sucks the heat out and brings in cool air. Mine gets super hot but that thing helps alot. You can find ones less then 20$ on amazon.
