    Default Shaving help...

So I work at a topless club and shave my pubic hair (all of it) regularly. I have a moderate amount of shave bumps, nothing excessive. I don't really mind since my club isn't nude. But some clubs I'm planning on traveling to this summer are nude, and so are bachelor parties and I'm starting up with those soon. So I need to get rid of these shave bumps and look as smooth as possible down there! The common-sense solution would be to start waxing, but since I work, I don't have the ability to wait the two weeks or whatever you have to wait to let the hair grow out before I get a wax because I need my bikini area to be hair-free for work.

So I'm going to have to start putting more time and care into the way I shave and take car of my skin so it can be smooth and so the shave bumps won't be a problem. Anyone have suggestions?

Honestly I just wouldn't worry about it too much. I work at a nude club and have the same problem, can never wait two weeks for waxing either. I started to feel self conscious about it but hey - all the other girls have the same problem too! I have looked at my coworkers and just wasn't worried about it anymore.Have you tried nair though? I find it doesn't work as well on very short hair but could be worth a shot.

Lol it's true that a lot of girls have even worse shave bumps. I mean, it is a pretty common occurrence for us women who shave. I just wish you didn't have to wait that damn long for a wax! I may look into the nair. Thanks

laser, especially when you travel. laser got rid of all my ingrowns after just one session and itll keep you completely bare for 2 months. i find soaking in a bath before and during shaving gets the best shave.

So I can get a laser to get rid of all the hair down there? Do you know what kind of risks are involved and what's a ballpark figure I can expect to pay? Is it super painful? Eek, that's a scary thought to me lol.

i use deoderant on my bumps and it works pretty well! old trick i learned when i first started dancing nude. also, sally hansen spray will get rid of the appearance of them. the lights take care of most of the grisly-looking ones. i've always shaved daily, and as long as i use a super sharp, new razor and soak it before i start shaving it helps. lots of shaving cream. yeah waxing is definitely out of the question since you have to let it grow long before getting it stripped off.

yup. the risk is really minimal (you could get burned by the laser) but thats mainly when you go to a ghetto place that allows untrained pplto operate the laser (you need to be at least a nurse, tho I go to an md), or if you are black or have blonde hair and they use an inappropriate setting or laser on you. make sure they use lightsheer duet or lightsheer diode laser, not an ipl laser. if you are black tho there is a dif laser they need to use but idk that. for full brazillion you could pay as little as $50 for a groupon (yes some nice places occasionally have. groupons) up to $300 for a single session. if you buy in bulk you get a discount, most places have discounts if you get multiple places done at once (like I get $150 off when I get brazillion and underarms done at once).

its not that painful and its over really quickly. most of your pubic area is pretty fleshy so the pain isnt that bad. when I got my shins done tho I had to take multiple breaks because it hurt so much lol.

the best part about laser is that you don't grow it out for an appointment like wax. if you havr growth they will shave you since the laser needs to attack the follicles and extended hair will get in the way.

Thanks, that all sounds completely awesome. I will definitely want to go to an MD and wouldn't mind forking over more for the quality and safety of it. I guess I'd call my skin tone a deep olive or very tan, idk... so I'm not sure which equipment they should use. I'm a little more than half white and about 3/8 black. But as long as I go to someone good I'm sure they'll use the right equipment lol.

I would try using Dermablend first. I used a dull razor this week and wound up with terrible ingrowns and scabs outside of what my thongs cover. I threw some Dermablend over it and even I couldn't tell.

Seriously like Simone said, deodorant! It's a nude dancer's savior! You know how you don't get ingrowns under your arms...same thing. I use Dove and it works wonders. Put it on right after you shave and dry yourself off.

Use roll on deodorant on the area after shaving (it reduces the irritation and bumps). Also, most girls who work in nude clubs (or here at least) cover with make up (if it's especially bad-Dermablend is great for covering up blemishes, scars tattoos etc).

You mentioned it will keep me completely bare for 2 months. All the research I'm doing online says the results are permanent and can take 5-6+ sessions to see results. I'm confused!

Try using an epillator? It will be super painful the first time, but if you can make it through that experience just once, it won't be bad at all from then on. I use one every day on my underarms, and they are super smooth, and don't have that shadow that most people get by just shaving.

I shave my nether regions bare each time I work. Three things have really helped me.

    1. A Schick Quattro razor
    2. Bikini Zone Anti-Bumps Shave Gel. It's expensive as far as shaving gel goes but it makes shaving your vag painless. Seriously, you could shave with that stuff for 2 weeks straight and not get irritated. CVS sells the same thing but with their store brand so it's a bit cheaper and sometimes you can find it for buy one get one half off.
    3. Bikini Zone Medicated After Shave Gel. You can find it at drugstores and Walmart. It's like $6 and worth every penny. I haven't had an ingrown hair down there in 2 years thanks to it.

yah after you do a bunch of sessions you get permanent results but after just one session you stay bare for 2 months, then the next cycle grows in.

I've been doing laser hair removal for a while now (definitely check for reputable places on Groupon to save money without going someplace janky). Basically, what you do is you closely shave the area, they laser it (which flash boils the blood that is at the root of the hair) and it kills the hair follicle. Most of the hairs will fall out/disappear a couple days later because they are dead. So, similar to with waxing, you will have a couple weeks or so (depending on the speed of your hair growth) where there is no hair coming out of the follicle. That's why you wait usually about 6-8 weeks between sessions so the new hair will grow in and they can laser it again. After several sessions, the trauma to the follicle will cease future hair growth. Most people see a difference in 4-6 sessions, but to get 90 or 95% hair reduction can take upwards of ten sessions depending on how stubborn your hair is. It doesn't work for everyone, but for me laser hair removal has been totally worth the time and investment.

Also, in the meantime I recommend using a men's electric razor to shave. I like the Norelco Bodygroom, which is designed for safely shaving genital areas. It's definitely pricier up front, but it gives a close shave and I have had absolutely zero problems with ingrowns or rashes since switching from regular razors. That plus Bikinizone or regular deodorant applied afterward and you're golden.

Ok, so with laser removal, typically after the first session my hair will be gone and the skin will be smooth as if I got a Brazillian wax, then several weeks later it will start to grow back and that's when I go get another laser treatment? And if I keep getting laser treatments eventually the results will be permanent/semi-permanent but for my first session it will be like a wax (smooth for a few weeks then grows back).

Am I understanding it correctly? If so, that definitely sounds like something worth doing.

unlike a wax, it will miss some hairs, so instead of being perfectly bare you will have like 3% of your hair left that you will have to shave but that is super negligible. they only look noticeable after a week of growth. after 2 months almost all of your hair will have grown in again and you get another treatment. after 6 treatments about 60% of my hair was gone and 95% of it was gone after 9 treatments. most of the hair thats left is in the hard to see parts if you catch my drift. it is totally worth doing.

your hair grows in cycles - that is why you have to go back every few weeks to get the hair from the next cycle - get a benzocain product - they should sell you one or recommend one - 30 minutes before your appointment or more if you have time - apply the benzo product and wrap your self in saran wrap - like a diaper - then take some aleve or motrin

I used to get terrible bumps from shaving. Deodorant helped but didn't stop all my bumps. Now I use a product called Caron Medi Paste. If I apply it generously and often, I don't get any bumps, which is a miracle for me. Maybe if your hair isn't as thick as mine, deodorant will do the trick. Good luck with it, sweetie! Good luck at those new clubs!

What kind of razor do you currently use, & what do you apply afterwards? Maybe just tweak your shaving routine instead of paying someone to shoot lasers at your pussy? I'm a Mach3 + witch hazel girl, myself.

Wanted to bump this post to share a recipe for homemade Tend Skin. I can personally say that this method works and costs way less, but ymmv.

    solution 1:
    18 tablets uncoated aspirin, crushed
    5 oz. rubbing alcohol
    combine.

    solution 2:
    8 tablets uncoated aspirin, crushed
    2.5 oz. witch hazel
    combine.

Combine the two solutions and there you have it. Shake well before applying with a q-tip or cotton ball. I add a little aloe to combat redness or soreness. The aspirin contains salicylic acid which dries up any existing bumps and exfoliates the skin.

Try soaking your razor in oil until the next time you use it- keeps the blade sharp.

Try shaving with coconut oil and exfoliate.
