For people who are swayed by studio promises but still arent sure, Id suggest you do the following:
a. plug their studio name into a few search engines for reviews
b. search their email address (the name and the full address) for any info on them
You can do more than that if youre thorough (whois info search, search details on whois data, etc), look carefully through what you find. You'll eventually be paying these people, so do a thorough check: any red flags?
Any positive reviews? Are the positive reviews current? Are the positive reviews by regular forum posters (check their post count) or do they look like spam? Contact the people who have written them if you only see 1-2 for updates.
If not, ask them some (or all) of these questions:
1. If it isnt super obvious ask: what is your stage name? [if they claim to be a current or former cam model. look that up, even old models should have some cache of their pics/profiles. contact the model directly on their site when they are live if they claim to be current]
2. How much of a percentage do you take off of [the independent earnings percentage for the site]?
3. You offer promotions, how do you do this?
3(followup) can I see your social media presence? [website, twitter, blogs, etc if you cant find them... note: if they have NO social media presence or a totally unimpressive one, ask yourself if their promotional services are worth it]
4. After I am all set working on the site and dont need your support, can I leave and sign up independently?
5. How do you store my identification info that I send you?
6. How many other models do you have working for you?
6(followup). Can I have a few of their stage names and email addresses to ask them some questions? [dont contact them on the site as the studio may control the private msging system, just have a stage name so you verify they exist and are current]
7. Why did you start this studio?
8. What customer service services do you offer that is beyond the scope of the customer service that the site itself provides
9. If they claim their models regularly net 10K a week... ask for a screenshot of some of their model's earnings. If it is true, they should be able to quickly screenprint and send you their claims. Feel free to add in that they can blur out model names and any compromising info. Be sure it is plural, because if they say 'regularly' and 'models' they should have evidence of more than a single instance.
If their service is legitimate, those questions shouldnt freak them out. You dont have to ask all of them, but definitely ask at least 4 of them.
