Default Staying young looking forever...(wishful thinking)

So I just saw a photo of Pharell Williams at 40...dude refuses to age.
    http://www.buzzfeed.com/hnigatu/phar...ss-time-wizard

Here is Pharell Williams in 2013. Age forty. Forty.

Here is Pharell 10 years ago.

And here’s Pharrell in high school.

I have always dreaded getting older, its inevitable and while I cannot kill father time I can take care of myself to make sure I look my best.
Here is what I do to try to stay young:

    1. Stay out of the sun, at least between the times of 10 am to to 4 pm. And when I do go under the sun, I make sure to wear sunscreen. Sun will make you look old before your time if you worship it....getting some vitamin D is good and necessary no doubt but don't forget the sun is powerful. Also all of our cars are tinted with film that blocks out 80% of the sun's harmful rays. So if you like the function and form...get some high quality film for your vehicle. Privacy, protection, looks...its all good.

    2. Don't smoke or drink....for me this is easy because I never liked doing either. Smoke smells, and drinks taste nasty to me. I do have a guilty pleasure of having an iced coffee every day but I make sure to also drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration from the coffee and to swish out my mouth (if brushing is not available) to prevent staining of my teeth. Never had a cavity by the way and I intend to keep all my teeth so take care of em...floss and brush gently but thoroughly.

    3. Eat right, eat clean. You know what to do here...fruits/vegetables/lean meats/fish/nuts/etc. Avoid the processed junk/fast food but hey you gotta live and once in a while if you must...treat yourself. It wont kill you and you gotta have some guilty pleasures. For me its dark chocolate.

    4. Exercise, at least one hour a day of cardio. Any motion is better than no motion but make the effort to sweat it up....your heart will be better off and your skin will be too...talk about a pore cleanse.

    5. Lay off the make up, keep it light and simple. Less is more....I am not a guru on make up but I noticed girls who wore less make up in their teens/20s aged much better. My mom is 65 and people think she is in her 40s. Her skin is like porcelain with barely any wrinkles...its nuts. She never wore much make up and I think that is why she has aged pretty well.

    6. Avoid stress...this is a big one. It will age you drastically if you are always stressed...not to mention its bad for blood pressure.

    7. Masturbate/have a lot of responsible sex. Not only does it feel good, you will be releasing endorphins and getting a full body workout. Its a win/win without a doubt.

Any other tips you guys have for aging gracefully?

i, too, dread getting older. this has to do with my money more than my vanity i think lol, but its also vanity. hey, it made me stop smoking!
but as far as celebs are concerned..they have millions to spend on their looks, and also photoshop to help along the way so don't pay attention to how they "age" and compare yourself to that shit.
like you said, it has to do with diet, healthy habits, staying the fuck outta the sun.. and STRESS plays a HUGe part in aging ( many people don't remember this, and think all you have to do is eat right. what's on the inside will age you just as badly). things like genetics also play a huge part ( can't control that unfortunately). i don't think makeup has much to do with it unless its cheap makeup with toxins in it. i wear organic makeup over my sunscreen it seems to have made my skin better looking..you said you were philipino right? that may be why your mother has aged so well! us white people age the worst.
but i also think aging gracefully has to do with just ACCEPTING that you are a certain age, and not fighting it! don't try and look/act like a damn teen when you are in your 40 or 50s. that's just embarrassing. you can be attractive and older.
oh, also they found having pets keeps you younger as well as, like you said, having sex, kissing, just being connected to another living thing. green tea and ginseng. yoga. meditating.

How are you going to come onto a stripper forum, into body business, and tell us to lay off the makeup? "Light and simple. Less is more." Do you have any make up experience or are you just saying stuff you think sounds good? I know that you weren't intending to be patronizing, but you were. We are grown women. Most of us have been using/experimenting with make up in one way or another for probably half our lives or more. Furthermore, being in this industry many of us have done lots of research on how to take care of our skin, and what products and treatments to use to keep it looking nice as long as possible. We do not need a man to come help us out by bestowing his makeup tips on us.

Again, I know you probably weren't doing it on purpose, but I just had to say something. It really irks me when men (not you, speaking generally) come along and try to bless women with their infinite wisdom, especially when it comes to our beauty/grooming routines.

Makeup does not cause premature aging or damage the skin if it is made properly and used correctly. You should amend that to "gently remove your makeup in full every night," if you even want to try to touch on the subject.

My bad on the make up thing, not trying to come off that way but it looked like it. And I didn't think much about it before I gave that input...I realize now. And yeah no experience with wearing make up here...just was going off what I noticed with my mom/sister/family not using a lot of make up and having good skin. Scrap the make up tip, that is obviously not my area. I didn't mean to offend and being a dude...I know I know. Also considering the nature of the forum and the business/profession at hand...no shit that you guys would have the beauty department covered. Once again my bad.

And Simone, I feel like such a girl because I am so damn vain. Of course not all girls are vain but it seems women are more concerned with their looks and staying young than men. I watch my weight/figure all the time. I dont count calories but I consider what it is I am eating. I am not even 10 out 10 in the looks department (I give myself a 7.5) so I am average to say the least but getting close to 30+ bugs me. I just dont wanna look older...but then again who does? I guess its also because I wanna stay in the young crowd...being in my early to mid to late 20s and not being the old man in the group/scene. I feel like old people are discriminated against/pushed aside/people find them to be a burden/etc. So I told myself...well if I lose the looks I do have I will at least be independent and functional. I dont plan on going into the home, being in diapers, and giving up my privilege to drive. I love my freedom to much to go down without a fight.

Good genes...either you have em or you dont. I know my mom's side...everybody always looks 10-15 years younger than they really are. My sister is 45 and people think she is 30-35. My brother is 35 and people think he is in his late 20s....bear in mind he smokes and stays in the sun so maybe he could have looked younger. Yes I am Filipino. I do noticed Asians and Blacks tend to age pretty good. My best friend who is white girl always goes to the tanning booth/sun bathes...I told her twice to stop doing that because she will regret it later. She tells me she wants tan skin like me. I tell her tan skin is nice but for me its natural...your forcing it and its not healthy because you dont even use sunscreen. At least use sunscreen. She doesnt listen to me...thats okay its her choice. I just noticed the white people in my neighborhood (I have known them since I was little, ie my friend's parents, etc.) they aged drastically. They are in their 50s and 60s now but look so old because their skin is leathery and sun damaged. On the other hand I have a white female friend in her 40s (classmate in my Philosophy class) who looks like she is in her early 30s. She tells me she avoids the sun. If I recall correctly Nicole Kidman said stay out of the sun...that will age you...she knows wassup. Living out here in California...everybody loves being in the sun but they dont realize its gonna catch up to them later...even more so if they dont use sunscreen or sunblock.

    "Sugar: The #1 Beauty Killer

My number one offender to beauty is sugar.

If you want to look and feel younger, cut out sugar. Sugar makes you fat and may increase your risk of cancer. It ages your skin and causes wrinkles. In a process called glycation, sugar attacks collagen and elastin, both key proteins that make your skin look young. Glycation makes them less elastic and more brittle so they break. The skin can't snap back. That's when fine lines and wrinkles appear, and they don't go away. But it gets worse.

Collagen and elastin start to mutate, creating harmful new molecules called advanced glycation end products (AGEs). These build up and cause further inflammation and damage to collagen and elastin. Sugar actively ages you. Ditching sugar will make you look and feel 10 years younger."

^I believe this...maybe I need to cut out the sugar from my iced coffee indulgences. I also drink a lot of green tea every day. I can't do coffee black but I can do tea naked...no need for honey/sugar.

True that...but also I do eat my fair share of junk food so I am no where near as crazy as the full on health freaks.

I also find that eating super healthy and getting all the organic stuff is not cheap...of course it wouldn't be but luckily we have our own vegetable garden, an apple and orange tree, tomatoes, etc. in our yard.

Wanting to look young has become an obsession for me and for a lot of others. But eventually I do believe I will truly let go...not anytime soon but when I am older and my body shows signs of no return...I will embrace father time and mother nature with open arms.

"Back in the days when I was young I'm not a kid anymore but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again." -Ahmad

^Aint that the truth...I was so in a hurry to grow up and here I am wanting to be a kid again. I will never forget the memories of childhood, I do know that whenever I look in the mirror...no matter how old I get...I can still see myself when I was young.

At 26 I still feel young enough and they say age is just a number and that is true...it really is just a number. But if that was the case...why do we live in such a youth obsessed world? Where beauty is associated with being young and fresh. Its just the way it is...always has been and always will.

I have oily skin and maybe that might be my saving grace...I don't think I will have much wrinkles considering my lifestyle, skin type, genes, diet, exercise, sun avoidance, etc. And so maybe I can still be a decent looking 60 year old...also granted I keep my hair.

I remember Iman from MJ's Remember the time music video...she looked good back then and she still looks good now.

The more pigmentation the skin has ie. black vs. white it does better when battling the sun.

Thats why being tan/olive complected I know my skin can take the sun but I still stay out of it for the most part.

    Go Pharell!!!!
Im actually almost in his league.
TODAY a Plumber was at my house doing some work. He knows my younger sister and myself casually. He asked if I was the younger sister, and guess what Im the older sister.....we are 7 years apart!! No joke. I told him my age- 31 and he couldn't believe it.
I never noticed it until people started pointing it out to me a few years ago, thats when I decided, well HEY let me preserve THIS. I did some research......

1st of all I am Black, known fact that the melanin in our skin blocks the sun significantly, HOWEVER, we DO need to use sunblock/SPF too. While we don't wrinkle much, our skin can and will SAG. Genes play a role, but all is not lost. My friend is 55 White and looks 30s!! So, anyone can maintain if they work on it and make it HABIT.

-I wash, use toner, moisturize day AND night. I dont miss a beat.

-My moisturizer has SPF in it ( use the moisturizer geared towards your skin type). Mine also has tone correction in it to even skin tone, but use whatever little extras work for your needs.

-Remove ALL makeup nightly if you can.

-I use a moisturizer with RETINOL in it at NIGHT only. Google it is what the dermatologists prescribe (but in a stronger form) tested and works on wrinkles. Used at night, because sun has some affect on it, I forgot, but GOOGLE IT.

-I use a separate moisturizer just for my eyes (this is a delicate skin area).Apply gently, dont rub on like you would your feet! LOL I get a little creasing in the eye area.

-Drink LOTS of water. ( I suck at this, one working on it).

-I have cut way back on alcohol. ALSO, I sometimes will have Pinot Grigio its 1 of the wines with the LEAST carbs in it. It doesn't taste the best obviously, but hey you can still catch your BUZZ.

-I DO NOT SMOKE and never have. I once saw a picture of twins in their 40s and one was a smoker/the other wasn't.....guess which one looked up to 10 years older??? THE SMOKER

-I am eating more fruits/vegs, OR at least take a daily multivitamin for women. HOWEVER, nothing is a substitution for fresh real veggies and fruit.

I know that sounds like a lot, but I do my routine without even thinking about it anymore. This is because I CARE to look youthful. This face makes money,Honey. ;-)

STAY OUT OF THE SUN OR KEEP SOME COVERAGE.

Wear SPF and if you hit the beach do one of those big sexy JLO hats once in a while to compliment you coverup. It will shade your face.

SUNGLASSES.....they protect AND they are fashion. I love my sun shades.

I no longer care what my number is (age), I love the knowledge I gain as I get older. I look young, but have the hustle and experience of years gone by.
YOU CAN THANK ME LATER DOLLS :-)

^ yup, i feel ya. im totally anal about skin care. like completely. im trying to get a good retin A ( i have tretenoin right now that's for cysts). i mostly just moisturize like crrraaazzzy. you know, my dermo told me that what really helps is getting a gylcolic peel regularly. it helps your skin produce more collagen and elastin and does something to the dermis where you don't get those deep wrinkles. exfoliation doesn't really count as you are only really touching the epidermis. i think retin A does the same thing, right now i have tretenioin but im going to get a new retin A for wrinkles.

BellaK that is dope, its always such a good feeling when people think you are younger than your actual age.

I bet that was a bomb ass feeling when he couldnt believe your age...yeee.

Great tips as well, I cannot emphasize enough the fresh vegetables and fruits and water. Lately I have been going nuts on the vegetables and water and cutting out sugar and my skin is starting to have a slight glow to it at times. It doesn't have the matte look so much...although I do have an oily skin type which is blemish prone but the positive is the oil helps fight the sun...kinda like barrier and oily skin tends to wrinkle less...or least not show it like dry to normal skin.

Sunglasses are vital as well...protect the area around your eyes (sensitive skin) and of course the eyes as well...they truly are function and form if the lenses are of good quality and properly tinted.

Oh and get enough sleep....I think at least 8 hours should do it. Most people don't get 8 hours of sleep but gotta shoot for it.

@Simone: I'm not sure if I misunderstood what you were saying, but Retin A is just a brand name for tretinoin cream. It stimulates collagen and chemically exfoliates, so it definitely helps with wrinkles to some degree.

BellaK, I'm not sure if you do this already, but I would really recommend a sunscreen beyond what is in moisturizer. Most moisturizers only have SPF 15 or 25 in them. I'm really white, so we probably have totally different needs, but everything I've read has said that SPF in moisturizers alone isn't optimal. I used to add a chemical sunscreen to my routine before moisturizer, but since they both take a while to "soak in," I've just gone to a physical sunscreen that is inherently moisturizing.

Whenever I visit the Philippines (Manila) I always get my face cleaned/peals/extractions and my skin looks so much better. Also since its hot and humid there...we are always sweating unless we are in the AC environments ie. mall/home/banks/stores/etc. so skin tends to be cleansed....just drink lots of water.

I might be going back again this summer for a revision rhino and maybe buccal fat pad removal but the latter I am more weary since that could bite me in the ass later if I lose cheek fat in my 30s or 40s.

P.S. I always shower with LUKEWARM water...never hot. It dries out and irritates the skin plus its uncomfortable as hell....then I finish off with cold water to close the pores/seal in the moisture. I do belive my cold showers have been doing me well and I always pat my skin dry...never rub. That little extra gentle touch goes a long way.

To be honest I havent exercised in months, ive been eating fast food everyday for almost as long, and I'm too tired to wipe off my makeup at night sometimes. I'm on the fast track to looking like crap. As for the suggestions in the above posts...the secret to maintaining your youthful looks is to removal all joy and pleasure from your life..jkjk. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is microneedling...has anyone tried for skin rejuvenation? Mine just came in the mail.

blacksheep revision rhino why? May I suggest something? I saw your rhino and it looks nice however gortex creates a risk of infection and the renowned surgeons here in the US usually try to avoid it. Have you considered removing it and using a different method to define your nose?

    Thanks.
I was tempted to have the tip projected more (but it might look to Peter Pan ish) and or also get my ala narrowed. Basically I want a white person's nose. But my doctor wanted to keep it refined while still retaining ethnicity so he didnt wanna make it to "pointy". I am satisfied with the bridge. I was a bit hesitant with the goretex implant vs. silicone or my own tissue. But I remember reading silicone can melt/dissolve away while goretex can extrude through the skin? Also my own tissue would be the best choice maybe but it to can dissolve and or the shape might not be as perfect as something synthetic like goretex/silicone.

So far its been 1 year and then some with no issues so as of now I am still fine with it. Also he took some cartilage from my ear to project the tip.

P.S. I remember reading once goretex is implanted...its hard or near impossible to remove?

    http://www.enhancementscosmeticsurge...sty-procedure/

"Rhinoplasty Philippines surgeons use Gore-tex implant for most of their patients. This implant material is highly recommended for rhinoplasty procedures. A Gore-tex implant provides a more natural yet inexpensive and safe material for rhinoplasty compared to natural tissue grafting. Studies running 17 years showed excellent tissue and stability for rhinoplasty procedures that used Gore-tex implants.

Rhinopasty patients in the Philippines that used Gore-tex implants can expect to have normal facial contours after the surgery. Gore-tex implant allows natural and rapid tissue growth within and through it. This implant provides permanent results and requires no allergy testing. It can be trimmed to fit the affected area. With Gore-tex’s durability and the body’s acceptance of the material, nose lift surgery results will last a lifetime. Gore-tex implant permits growth of human tissues into the empty spaces within it which helps fasten the implant in the treated area. It results into a natural blend with the rest of the facial tissues."

My moisturizer has SPF 30, but yes I do use sunblock as well, but it depends on the day. Like if it's rainy/dark, I feel the moisturizer is enough. If it's 90s & sunny well SUNBLOCK is a must. Also, I do use sunblock on my body daily. Like you said, you are really white, I think our needs may be a little different. I am medium toned (kind of caramel colored), I have some natural coverage going, but I still need a little more.

I encourage everyone to tweak what their routine for their specific needs. Also, people living in different climates should take their weather into consideration as well.

Scrap the make up tip, that is obviously not my area. I didn't mean to offend and being a dude...I know I know. Also considering the nature of the forum and the business/profession at hand...no shit that you guys would have the beauty department covered. Once again my bad.
    It's all good

As for me, I'm of Irish heritage and it shows. I always wear sunscreen on my face (my moisturizer has a high SPF, as well as my makeup) when when I go outside I also put it my body, even if it's just a quick trip to the bank or something. I have a separate spf moisturizer for around my eyes.

I take pretty good care of my skin. I keep it clean, use oils on it at night, and do at home chemical peels. I have tried the dermaroller but I didn't really like it so I didn't stick with it.

I also get a little bit of botox and fillers, not only to enhance my look but as a preventative measure.

More and more lingerie dealers from China instead of Thailand because of cheaper price and better quality. And it is not only opportunity but also challenge to the industry. Welcome to find cheap corsets on dear-lover.com and shiyingsexylingerie.com.

^ Juvederm, Restylene, Pearlene, Sculptra, and a few others. Can be used to fill lines or add volume to the face. I get Juvederm in my nasolabial folds (and next time I'm going to get a little bit under my eyes).
