    Crossfingers A Good Stage Name?

What do you ladies think of, "Ariana Aries" for my name? Not like, 'air-ee-ana' but like, 'are-ee-on-uh'. LOL But really guys, cute? I want to play off my sign (since I'm a TOTAL zodiac sign enthusiast) and in real life, that usually brings about curious questions from most guys I interact with about their sign and mine so I think it could be a good selling point and conversation starter. And just from my name!

If you want to sound likre a 3rd tier porn star go ahead. Both are great by themselves. Together they just sound lame. That's just me though. I've never understood strippers needing "last names" unless there is another one of the same name.

Go w/ Ariana if you want to come off as exotic, or Aries if you want to channel your zodiac enthusiam. Combining them is overkill. If you really feel like you need a last name, go w/ smtg a little more believable, or if you're going down the exotic route, smtg that would match that name. I go by my mother's maiden name at work, as I play up my Slavic heritage, but I only give it if sm1 asks abt it in regards to my ethnicity. Generally, ppl don't give a flying puck abt last names.

Both names sound too "fake" IMO, even though they're very pretty-sounding. I'd personally get sick of all of the "but what's your real name" questions that would inevitably follow after every introduction. It depends on what your persona is though. Also depends on the club.

If you look exotic, then go for an exotic name. Most girls don't, and they'd usually be better served by a girl-next-door-but-slightly-sexier name.

You want your customers to trust you to some degree (it makes them want to spend money on you), so starting off an interaction with "I'm giving you an obviously fake name" is often not ideal.

I like Ariana, Aries is overkill but you have to go to the club first, get hired, and then make sure someone else doesn't have your name so I suggest you have back ups.

This is just my opinion based on xp....go with something simple or "normal" (I don't mean that disrespectfully). Guys will ask you the most annoying repetitive questions regarding your stage name. You will hear "oh what's your real name?" a thousand times a night. It gets so old. The more simple, the better IMO. (I'm an aries chick too tho so I know how you feel )
I'd grab my trumpet and I'd do a stripper sound, like the old Louis Armstrong, real raspy. And the people would go nuts! Then I knew that the sexual, sensual, guttural sound, that throbbing sound, is where it's at.

I would go for something simple and feminine like Miranda or Ashley.

If you look exotic then go for it but don’t add Aries. Just stick with Arianna and you will do fine.

Aren't you the girl who isn't starting dancing until next year? If so, I really wouldn't worry about picking out a name just yet. Arielbriel is right on the money about names often being taken, and a year is a long time to sit on a name.

i work with a girl named aries, its kinda cute! arianna sounds kind of pretentious/over the top unless you look exotic like others have said..i mean both of them sounds a tad on the fake side. it really depends on your look, and what you are going for as well

Unless you plan on becoming a professional show girl, doing a burlesque act or modelling for men's mags then there is NO need for a regular dancer to have a first and last name. Ariana is fine (it's actually a pretty typical stripper name)-it's an actual name and it sounds "exotic" (if you have an exotic look about you, it could work well). But if you are new to dancing then choosing a "real" or "every day" name will be easier.

I agree that you only need both if you become a touring feature showgirl or do men's mags or promotional work, etc. I disagree with most people in that I think Aries on it's own is nice, especially given your zodiac enthusiasm. On a slow night/with conversational customers, that could be your thing - guessing zodiacs based on their traits. But guys WILL bug you and openly mock you (really impolite, but guys think that normal manners don't apply to strippers) over it.

I have a super strippery and tacky fake name (alcohol brand) and a fake "real" name. On our roster, or when I'm called up to stage, it's by my stage name, but I introduce myself to guys as my "real" name, which is verrrrrrrry girl next door cutesy. If they insist that my fake real name isn't real (rare as it's very believable), I'll hesitate and say I don't mind telling them, but it's super old-fashioned and embarassing. After they persist for a few minutes, I say something like Geraldine or Harriet. They're usually satisfied with that.

And simple, which is so important in a loud club with drunks. Ariana is super pretty, but I can guarantee you, guys will butcher it and call you Ari, Ana, Annna, Erin, or "What? WHAT?! WHAT//! oH, Stacey!" which will get annoying too. I wanted to be Alizee (I speak French and play that up), but my first boss wisely said "Too complicated, I'll put you down as Allie instead." I was annoyed and thought she was dumb. But on my first night, I noticed that guys would even butcher Allie! My current fake "real name" is equally common and easy to hear, but I still get 2-3 guys per night hearing it totally wrong.

This is a really smart approach. So when you're called on stage, a fake-sounding name is called out, which gets people's attention (it sounds sexy and over-the-top). But then you introduce yourself using a realistic name. That's a great way to establish trust with customers right off the bat. I'm imagining you saying something like "Oh, yeah, the club makes us use fake names when we go on stage, but I'd rather give you my real name..." The customer can relate to that since most customers don't like fake names either, and you've just pulled a connection with them out of thin air (as well as a conversational topic).

How funny! I was just thinking about my future name choice today in a similar vein. Thought "Pisces" could be cool, because I love astrology. (It's not my sun sign, but it shows up elsewhere on my chart.) But then it occurred to me that I'm setting myself up for fish jokes!
Gotta mull this over some more...

I like "Ariana" and "Aries", prolly can't go wrong with either. Ariana sounds like she could be softer and sweeter, Aries of course bold, fiery. Decide how you'll conduct and present yourself and go from there.

Don't forget if guys can hear your name over the club music. With a more exotic sounding name keep in mind that customers might not get it right at the first try. That could potentially be annoying, besides the "so what's your real name?" thing.

Also, I wouldn't recommend going with Arianna unless you're of latin descent.

Thanks so much for the sweet and funny advice! I think going up on stage as "Aries" then introducing myself as Ariana is a really good idea.

Like onstage, I could be blazing and use my zodiac sign as a confidence boost, since I'm sure I'll have some bad nights, and come offstage to the guys like, "Oh hi, I'm Ariana. I know I'm Aries onstage (if they question the two different names right off the bat) but I feel comfortable with you. *cue cute smile*." And they'll know I can be a firey vixen from my stage name and set but possibly find my slight "vulnerability" endearing. Sound good, ladies?

I think being announced by your stage name but introducing yourself by your "real" name will get confusing at times. What happens when the table is ready to go to VIP and they ask the floor host to find Ariana for them? Or when a guy calls the club the next week and asks if Ariana is working? If all they have is 'Aries' on the roster, the staff probably won't be able to keep up with your two names and it may cost you money.

@Addison True....I guess I could go by my stage name and then if a guy asks for my "real name", I could tell him Ariana and still use a cute line about being comfy with him. Yeah?

ALWAYS go by your stage name for the reasons Addison posted. I come up with a fake real name that i use all the time if they ask but I always say something along the lines of "Dont tell anyone hehehe, it's a secret" or "we already have another ____ here so I don't want you to get her accidentally when you come looking for me" assuming that they ask the host to get me. You get what I'm saying? Pick a name and stick to it.

Ah, yeah. I didn't think of that. Though guys rarely remember a girl's name...they'll usually ask for "the blonde wearing a turquoise outfit" or whatever. Still, a good point to consider.

@Shanna I know I won't be dancing for a while (like next April) but I don't want to go into this blind. I want to gather as much information as possible so I don't completely flounder in the environment. The months are moving very quickly, for me at least, and I want to prep to the fullest of my ability. I know that girls won't assist me in the club which is perfectly understandable. So I'd rather lurk some and post a little just for good measure. :-)
