Default Rawr! Combo + sensitive skin!

I'm just here to complain about my combination skin, which has reacted very badly to being treated "well", and cry on the shoulder of someone who knows how I feel.

So I used to be a frump. I never did anything to my skin except splash it with bathwater once in a while and scrub it with a washcloth when it felt scrubbish. Seriously. And I did not have problem skin. I had ever so slightly oilier skin in the t-zone, but no breakouts and no problems. A little uneven coloring, some lines, whatever, no problems really. Brilliant!

Since I began taking care of myself, I started washing it with a gentle organic facial cleanser, which it doesn't seem to MIND, really, but it doesn't make a difference. It's a little drier and tighter after the bath.

I also started using eye cream, which is fine, and night cream, which caused horrible oiliness and breakouts. I'm using Oil of Olay's anti-aging night cream. I switched to straight aloe vera, which is a little irritating but much better.

The biggest problem, though, is that foundation, which I adore and want to marry, absolutely gives me breakouts. Powder and liquid and cream and all of it. I even have a spot on my cheek, where I never have acne. I haven't tried official oil-free foundation yet, but I have tried Neutrogena's Healthy Skin, which.. doesn't help. I also LOOK oily when I have makeup on. Ugh. I don't use a lot of foundation, so it's not that..

I do use benzoyl peroxide, but it really irritates my skin. I have pretty sensitive skin. I'm desperate. Any recommendations? Has anyone else had this problem?

P.S. I'm pretty short of funds at the mo- waiting to get paid is such a pain.

Look for alcohol free, paraben free, SLS free makeup and skincare. I use the "faith in nature" brand which I buy in the UK but i'm pretty sure they are a worldwide brand. I also use dr. organic manuka honey moisturiser which instantly calms my skin (only use a fingertipful to avoid over moisturising), and sally hansen natural beauty airbrush spray foundation which I buy for super cheap and it is one of the few foundation products you can get that is paraben free.
Parabens really irritate my skin you see and cause it to produce more oil around the T-zone/ dry out everywhere else, and this is skin that CAN take benzoyl peroxide. They might be irritating you too.

It may be the season, my skin (normally somewhat combo tends to get really oily/dirty when it's warmer. I use those pre-moistened wipes, (I use Garnier) & I just started using Simple oil free moisturizer.

Dry and tight is not the way a good cleanser should make your skin feel. Those sensations suggest your cleanser is stripping your skin of oils, which would explain why it has been overproducing them and making your face slick under makeup. "Organic" and "natural" are often very misleading terms when it comes to skincare, as both of these things can still have irritants and be awful for your skin. I have extremely sensitive skin too and, for example, my skin cannot tolerate the Simple ("all natural") brand. Even the light moisturizer in that line burns it. Everyone's skin is different, but the overwhelming opinion of most "skincare enthusiasts" is that CeraVe ($12 at most drugstores or supermarkets) is the best drugstore brand out there. I would recommend the foaming wash for oily to normal skin, as the hydrating cleanser can be bad for acne-prone skin. Also, as you can tell, I'm not a blind supporter of "natural" fixes and what have you, but I've seen some really great results with the oil cleansing method (you can use extra virgin olive oil, jojoba, mineral, etc). I still recommend using a light cleanser to either "double cleanse" at night or for morning use.

Benzoyl peroxide is too harsh for many people's skin, mine included. It burns the hell out of my skin even at low concentrations. I would recommend you stop trying to use it, at least until you can get your skin under control. If you need to spot treat, tea tree oil ($7 at Walgreens/Walmart) is great at night, though the scent is strong.

As for makeup, what kind of foundations have you been using? Really sensitive skin often cannot tolerate drugstore foundations, unfortunately. Makeup Forever has been a great brand for my skin, but it's a little pricey at $42. Clinique (the original liquid foundation) was also well tolerated and is much cheaper (I want to say around $15-$22 depending).
