Wow, this thread makes me feel ashamed about my attitude toward customs.
For some reason they sound like a good idea at the time and I get super-excited about the concept, talking it up to the requestor. When it comes time to actually do make the clip, it's like eating briars. I would just rather do anything in the world than what I'm supposed to be doing.
Maybe I haven't done enough of them to have the confidence to really rock it–I keep imagining shortcomings that the buyer will surely see when they get it. "Oh, I wasn't filling up the frame enough, what a waste of space. Um, that glass had a little bit of the 'magic' drink left in it and it's suddenly empty. Who's the continuity editor on this production?" And so on.
It ends in me swearing off doing customs ever again till I get great feedback from the customers, who say they'll be back for more in the future. Then I'm all "RIGHT ON! I had so many great ideas for more clips while making this one and I can't want to work with you again yadda yadda yadda!" LOL what's wrong with me?
