Sad Capsular Contracture in one of my almost brand-new boobies

Yes, yes. I realize this is a first world problem if there ever was one. But, please play a tiny violin for me as I weep. I got my beautiful, perfect, perky DDD's a year ago. Went in for my follow-up yesterday. Doc raised an eyebrow at leftie (always my underachiever) went to poking & stuff, and then announced that I have capsular contracture in that one. For those who don't know, that means the scar tissue surrounding the implant has gone all aggro and is now STRANGLING my big pretty implant. It's starting to be visible & wonky looking, and even hurts a bit. So, I have to be resurgified, August 20th. All this, just as I was about to make my grand re-entrance at my old club. Delayed yet again. Boo. Any similar experiences/ words of encouragement/ tough love? Thanks for listening.

Aww so sorry to hear this
I got my 450 cc gummy bear implants in 2009. In 2011 I developed capsular contracture in my left breast. Shortly after I found this out I moved to another state (husbands job) and I am VERY wary of the surgeons in this state. There are a total of three, and even girls I work with go out of state for their plastic surgeries. In the meantime, my breast with capsular contracture is lifted up high and is hard. Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it doesn't. It took a while before it really became noticeable to me though.
I am a dancer, and thankfully no one has ever noticed it. If they did, they didn't say anything...
I have an appointment in September to travel home to my original surgeon to finally replace the implant. I'm very particular about how everything on my body looks and am counting down the days!
I don't know about you, but I made a few mistakes after my initial surgery. I went back to work too soon, was lifting heavy things, and not massaging it as I was instructed to do.
You're really lucky you get to have your surgery so soon! They say sometimes capsular contracture can't be avoided, but any tips your surgeon gives you be sure to follow them!
My surgeon told me that during this waiting time before my next surgery to take vitamin E and massage around the area a few times a day.
I know it's a difficult and emotional thing to go through, but just keep remembering that very soon you will have your surgery!

Thanks, SP. My doc said that this just randomly happens with some people, no matter what. He said it could even happen again after he corrects it. I will start taking high doses of vit. E a week after the surgery, and massaging, and laying flat on the implant 15 mins. a day. I have always massaged them though, so I dunno how that'll make a difference. Mine are silicone gel... he said he actually hopes it is ruptured so Mentor will cover most of the cost of the surgery, as well as the implant. If it's not, only the implant itself is reimbursed. I appreciate your kind words. It feels good to know I am not alone.
Best of luck to you with your surgery. September is right around the corner!

Don't be scared! (I'm so sorry, i did not mean to scare you, promise!) Sure, it can happen at any time, but it is not the end of the world and is fixable. Although, it is pretty irritating to have to have surgery all over again and PAY for it, but whatever. To me, it's much more of an annoyance than anything else. I just hate the thought of having to get it fixed, like, repeatedly...

I'm curious what your "tiny little bit" is like. Is it hard and painful, or just kinda misshapen? Mine is tender in the lower part around the crease, and you can see where the implant is kinda riding high, which creates the impression that the nipple is lower on that side. The whole thing is definitely firmer than the right one, which is nice & bouncy.
Also, when did it start? Is it recent, or did it start a long time ago & just never get really bad? Mine seems to be worsening pretty quickly.

You can't really tell by looking. in 08 it was getting smaller and I thought it was leaking and my doctor said it had minor capsulation. Like a bakers 1 or something. I'm getting mine redone in aug. They're making me sick but I don't want to get into that.

Man, I'm sorry to hear this! I got my tits done all the way in Thailand so I was super-paranoid of developing CC for literally months before I finally relaxed. I rested for a good six months and luckily, was in a city where I didn't really have the option to dance, so no rushing back to work and stressing my body out during healing time. I started camming, maybe four months after my surgery and everything I did was really low-impact. I didn't even start working out heavily, again until around the nine-month mark. It's true that it can happen to anyone, for any reason, just based on how one's body adjusts to the implant and trauma from surgery.

I'm due for a lift in another few years. I love my tits but damn, the idea of getting another surgery and running those risks all over again stresses me out. I'm likely not going to go all the way back to my original surgeon, just for a lift but I am not looking forward to getting these messed with. I feel like I honestly lucked out, this time around. Good luck, recovering from everything!

^^^ while there probably isn't any 'clinical' evidence that your situation is common, from personal observation I can corroborate that the probability of development of capsular contracture seems to be related to how quickly after surgery your implants wind up being 'stressed' by strenuous pec muscle activites.

Of course, there is also anecdotal evidence that frequent use of one particular 'exercise' tends to inhibit capsular contraction as well ...
