Default Do you ask for drinks or food from your regulars?

Pretty much what the title says. I only started to go to the SCs a few months ago. I started to see this dancer a few times and i guess i was becoming one of her regulars. We always chatted for a bit before going for dances. One night i came in, and we sit to talk for a bit. She then asks for drinks, food etc. Being nice and all i agreed since i was getting a drink too. No food for me since i never eat at the clubs.

I told my buddy about it and he said....you do know they (dancers) are not supposed to ask you right?
As in it was a rule that they should not ask a customer for drinks. Is this true and do you ladies ask for drinks, etc?

you don't ask you don't get. some customers need to be prodded on proper etiquette.

Some clubs have rules about dancers not being able to explicitly ask customers to buy them drinks. Doesn't mean it's like that at all clubs or that all dancers act accordingly. If you don't want to buy her drinks or food, simply decline. If you don't mind, what's the big deal?

I've never asked just because I'm not that kind of person but if I fancied eating and a customer offered I would say yes to the offer-if you don't mind buying her some food/drinks then why not ?

Well...it seems like its becoming the norm after that first incident. She asks for drinks almost all the time now and even when im not ordering a drink myself. Its becoming a bit annoying. But i guess i just need to stop being so nice. Thing is it can get awkward if i decline.

Dancer: Hey can i order a shot?
    Me: Umm...no.
    Dancer: Uhhh...okayyyy....
Me: Want to do some dances?
    Dancer: Dafuq?

^^ Well, if you still want to do dances and you're not sitting there drinking, why not just say in response, "Why don't we go do some dances instead?" She probably won't mind. If she does, and keeps insisting she wants a shot first... well, I would consider that pretty rude, and it's not your job to support her drinking habits at work.

Thanks Aurora. I'll try that next time. If there is even a next time. My last experience wasnt that great. She did some other things that was off putting. But that is another story for another thread.

A ton of clubs run the "Buy the lady a drink?" annoying ploy every a dancer sits with you (looking at you, Spearmint Rhino). Never bought one, and it's never impacted the quality of the dances I've received. I've also found that after I politely say "No thank you" to the waitress and if the dancer then looks at me and says "Pleeeaaaassseee" it usually means I'm in for a lesser quality dance. Better dancers know the drill and put up with what the club forces them to do but don't push me, because they know I'm about to drop some decent change on them. I'm there for one reason only: to spend money on dances with dancers, not anything else.

The meal one is new to me but the drink scam has been going on for years. I worked at couple clubs where buying a drink was expected and we had to push a certain amount each shift. I hated it because I would rather have the money for a dance.

I've never worked in a club where we were "not allowed" to ask a customer for a drink-it's the norm. I have worked at clubs that serve meals before and I have seen girls ask for dinner or a cheese platter etc as well (I always thought that was a little rude and not very sexy).

I will order drinks whenever I please from my regulars because I know they don't mind. Dinner is no problem either, but I don't always feel like having a full meal.

Barney, charlotte's quote above sums it up nicely IMHO.

When she asks "may I sit with you" and I say yes, I always assume that offering her a drink is simple common courtesy. Some accept the offer and others do not, but IME there is a solid % of girls who will be put off if they sit with you but are not offered a drink. And yes, many will ask if a drink is not offered. This has been more or less the way of things in the places where I've clubbed for the last 15 years.

A couple of notes here: there are regional and other variations in what is considered proper etiquette. IME in certain southern areas (FL, AL, GA, SC), guys are less apt to offer drinks to their club dancers, who generally adapt to this reluctance. Same holds true in non-alcoholic clubs IME.

This is one of a few topics discussed on this site where I think that the views of some SWers diverge from what I see in real club settings. In fact, I am surprised that we have seen so few "I never buy drinks" from the blues and variations of 'I don't drink/I'd rather have the cash" from the pinks thus far. The reality in many places, however, is that refusal to buy at least one drink for a dancer who is sitting with you may lead her to believe that you don't intend to spend on her.

    Anyway, just my fwiw.

I never ask for drinks or anything I find it more classy that way and in the end the amount of money customers would spend on me I could afford to buy as many drinks as I want

The club I frequent does not do drink scams, unless you count 8 dollar beers as a scam..........I will buy a girl who is sitting with me a drink. My fav certainly expects it. I would not refuse. A random dancer had best not expect it though

If you are in the world of 50 dollar shots or uber champagne that might be different.

I don't mind buying my ''regular dancer'' drinks...just don't bring one or two of your friends along and expect me to buy them drinks also. And if I buy you a drink....DRINK IT !!!

I would only ask for food if its a regular that I'm super comfortable with. I've never done that yet, but could imagine doing it if I was really hungry, lol. I won't ask for a drink, ever. That's just a personal thing. However, I feel it is rude for the customer not to offer. As rickdugan said, I tend to associate not offering a drink with disinterest, and probably won't stick around long with a customer who doesn't offer. Either way, I hate asking for stuff.

I always offer the girl with me food, and the whole reason I go to clubs that serve alcohol (with their stricter limits on touching and higher prices) is that I love drinking with the girls. And I absolutely welcome her asking me if I'll be ordering food ... once I get to know her past those first couple of times we meet. It's only awkward if we don't know each other very well, then it can feel presumptuous

I don't like asking for anything besides dances, and I live off wheat crackers and water at work anyway. However, we're not allowed to refuse anything that would make money for the club if offered. It sounds like your dancer is a little bitchy though. I always wonder why customers stick with the dancers who plop down and order $50 worth of booze. They also often seem to be the bitchy territorial types in the dressing room, so I wouldn't be surprised if she has already "warned" other dancers to stay away from you or risk pissing her off.

If you're a regular of mine, I always offer to buy a drink. Unless I have to leave shortly and just want a couple dances to go.

If she's new to me and I accept her offer to sit with me, unless I get a really bad first impression (wth was I thinking?) I'll offer to buy a drink also.

I don't get insulted if it's declined. I do get insulted if she takes two sips, asks for dances, I accept, and then she leaves the drink behind. At least take it with you and pretend you'll drink it. Not like I've had some "oh, I'll get another later from another customer".

Food is more of a sore subject. I don't order it often myself. Often pricey, slow, and often not that good.

A regular of mine has gotten in the habit of asking if she can order an appetizer. You know the one who's going to have to wait around for it while she works the room? And must tell a girl that stops by and I find attractive that I'm waiting on food, could you please come back later? Regular swoops back in when the food is finally there and if she doesn't have a current dance session. Needless to say, I typically decline that scenario.

I generally don't ask for drinks unless I'm in a VIP room and then I ask for Champagne by the bottle of course. LOL. On the floor, I will wait till a guy offers to buy me a drink as opposed to asking for it UNLESS we've done a streak of dances and I really need one to "cool off" and they should understand that I worked up a thirst and I need a drink if they want me to keep dancing for them.
