Default Setting your own VIP prices??

I just recently got hired and I'll be starting next week but I was a little confused when the hiring manager explained the VIP pricing rules. And I'm hoping all the awesome dancers here on SW can help me sort this out!

So it's a topless club with $20 lapdances. But the way VIP was explained to me was, half hour is $50 (or $55 I think) to the club and hour is $75 to the club. As long the club gets that amount, you are free to set your own prices. So the example the manager quickly made was, I could charge $400 for an hour and $75 would go to the club and the rest I would keep. But I'm wondering, doesn't that lead to price cutting amongst the dancers? And wouldn't it be weird if everyone was charging different rates? I'm wondering how do I figure out how much to charge myself. Would it be considered rude or invasive if on my first day I asked another dancer how much she charged?

I'm really confused so any help would be appreciated!

I always have a bit of trouble w/ this as well. I try to get around it by offering an unofficial VIP, an agreed-upon block of time where I remain on the floor w/ the customer & dance/chat for agreed upon amt. I work it into my salespitch depending on how they react to the club's VIP rates. Can work wonders closing a sale if they seem turned-off or confused by the setup.

I wouldn't ask the other girls how much they charge, simply because you likely won't get an honest answer. Not to mention, just because one girl charges x doesn't mean you can't get away with charging more. Besides, it's not weird if everyone is charging different prices because customers don't go around price shopping. They aren't going to ask you how much you charge for VIP and then go ask another girl and then pick the cheapest one. They're sitting with you, you charge x, and if they can afford that/you can convince them you're worth it, end of story.

Assuming songs at your club are 3 minutes long, you could make $400 selling an hour of lap dances. If you only charge $400 for the VIP, you're cutting yourself out of $75 since the club gets a share of it. Personally, I'd charge at least $500 for an hour in VIP in this club, possibly more depending on how much better the VIP set-up actually is and if I feel that the customer can afford more.

In any case, pick a price that makes the whole thing worthwhile to you. You can always adjust your prices later on once you can better gauge the clientele.

I used to work at a club where the VIPs were $350 for a half hour & those were easy to obtain when it was busy however the club took way too much of a cut from it & we'd only get $180 from it. So what I used to do (ONLY WHEN THE MNGR WASN'T LOOKING OR WAS TOO BUST TO KEEP UP) is I would tell the guy to pay me in cash upfront before we go to the VIP room & I'd tell him that I'd give him a half hour for $350 , then when we got to the room I'd quietly tell the mngr we were doing a $150- 15 min dance, then I'd just keep the leftover $200 :p If the mngr told me time was up I'd excuse myself for a second and walk over & say ok, just trying to talk him into getting another then I'd go back & finish the dance for the guy. None of the guys ever caught on & I always made extra that way plus I'd ask them for a tip at the end of the dance worked like a charm!

I worked at a club like this, but they made all their money from selling the bottle of champagne so the dancer kept all her VIP money. The rule was, you weren't allowed to charge less than $300/hr because that would undercut the other girls, and most girls did charge $300-$400. AFAIK no-one charged under that because the hostess handled the cash and would know you went under $300, and occasionally you'd get girls with regulars that they'd charge $500+ because they knew they could get it.

You'd be surprised at how big mouthed some girls are and you can get the numbers without directly asking them.

If the managers or girls suggest a price NOT to go below, then don't go below it and you won't be guilty of undercutting.

I like to keep my rates in line with what I know other girls are charging (maybe more).

And for me, if the club has to get a cut I'd charge at least 4x more to make reasonable profit.
