I think you'll be fine.
On another note it seems to me pastachios are the most likely to have creepy crawlers inside of them. I've seen a lot of spiders and stuff in them. Also organic grapes. We're the pastachios organic? Without pesticides they're more likely to have stuff in em.

I'm sure we eat plenty of things that are contaminated in some form or another - you just happened to see yours - yuck - i'm sorry - i think you will be fine though

i believe maggots only eat dead skin, like that's what they were used for back in the day on wounds..they aren't like intestinal worms or anything so you will be fine!! don't worry![]()

haha! Thanks, ladies, so far I'm fine

threadjack - this made me think of the people who intentionally ingest tapeworms to loose weight - so gross

lol - I dont have an actual "source" but from what I remember people were ordering them from other countries - I saw a show on tv that talked about it but it has been forever ago - eat raw sushi IDK
sorry whirlerz - i promise I will not post about this anymore - lol

Actually, there are two different kinds - some eat only "dead" flesh, and some will eat living flesh. The screwworm kind will eat living flesh, hence the name. They tend to hang out in central/south America though.
There have been very rare, accidental occurrences where maggots that have been swallowed via contaminated food and have causes myasis that way.
Not meant to gross anybody out, just clarifying, and giving info. Also, "maggot therapy" using the "good" kind of maggot (the ones that only eat dead flesh) are still used in some medical settings today, in order to clean out wounds, gangrenous infections, etc. Those are the beneficial ones, and are used in a sterile setting with medical supervision.
Even if you DID actually eat one, you're fine. If you swallowed it whole, your stomach acids (and a lack of oxygen) would kill it within minutes. And if you chewed it before swallowing, then you clearly have nothing to worry about.
Remember, people in other cultures willingly ingest bugs (crickets, worms, grubs, etc.) So trust me, YOU'RE FINE.
