I thought it might be fun if we'd have a thread in which we share physical health and nutrition tips, and also sort of diary entries to update how we're doing. It absolutely doesn't have to be an emphasis on weight loss, but it can be to you if that's your ultimate goal.
Here are some resources I found have helped me-
Weight loss:
Myfitnesspal. http://myfitnesspal.com/ A free way to track what you eat everyday. On the app for phones you can even scan in barcodes of foods that you may eat.
Losertown. http://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php Calculate how much you should weigh in several weeks with your current calorie intake. Use fitness pal to determine a healthy amount of calories you should be eating, and enter it into losertown's calculator. I found it's fairly accurate and motivating.
Workouts:
Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. A quick workout video that is easy to do without equipment. Use cans as weights if you don't have any! It has 3 levels... you do each for 10 days. Here is Level 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Pc-NizMgg8
Lowering blood pressure (and a guide to eating better):
DASH diet. http://www.amazon.com/The-DASH-Diet-.../dp/B005NDDEHK
If you have high blood pressure I can't recommend this book and eating plan enough. It's not even a diet, it's a way to change your eating habits for life. It has really lowered my blood pressure, I couldn't believe it worked.
