You're tall so you can get away with carrying more weight but I'd still try to lose and tone up. TBH if she could travel most PA clubs would take her as is. The only ones that really have any standards are Risque, Delilah's and most of the upscale places. I've seen far worse dancing in PA.

I'm 5'8 around 150 but I carry it well. Put me in heels & my waist corset & I'm HOT Its hard to work anywhere in LA when your waist is any larger than 32! The club mngrs are too picky out here IMO, plus LA is all about look & being perfection. I, myself hate that mentality, I can't wait to work in another state where it's ok to be tall & "normal" sized! I swear out here there are more petite frames than larger ones (by larger i mean tall med-big boned frames), it's really wierd, but when I leave "fantasyland" I feel more comfortable. Some ppl out here are rude about it too, they'll be like omg you're so big - but I'm only a dress size 10!! And of course it's coming from the mouth of someone a size 4-6. I think if you are tall like Temp says ^^ you can carry it well

not sure if you are going to stop back to even look at this, but i checked out your pics and i have to agree with toning up your middle and toning up everything in general if you wanna get hired at a decent place anywhere. not trying to be a dick at all, just that the managers might be racist and not want to hire a "darker gal" and it sucks so you'll want to look barbie in every other way. if you aren't willing to change your appearance ( some aren't willing to do that) then go do the divier places to get your feet wet. contrary to popular belief you can make a killing at exta's ridden clubs esp when you are new.

Not everyone is a Barbie. I may get flamed for this, but not everyone should feel entitled to become a dancer. Workout, eat right, choose flattering outfits, wear your hair and makeup nicely, etc....

Take the feedback you've been given and audition at lower end clubs. Once you have up'd your skill and looks, then later audition to more desired clubs.

yes, this times a million. being a dancer requires effort and we are all judged on the same scale regardless of whether looking amazing comes naturally or not. most times, it doesn't come easily at all. I cant tell you how many times girls that are shoving their face with pizza or quesadillas will compare their bodies with mine and wonder why I look so much better than them like its some big mystery. being a dancer to me means looking your absolute best and for me that means working out hard even if im hungover or if I just finished an 8 hr shift and on days that I work (aka drink) I only eat lean fish and vegetables. of course its hard and thats why only a few get to reap the rewards ($$$$!). I have seen so many girls go from making big money to struggling to pay rent because they gained 20 lbs and look like shit. we are half naked- looks matter!!!!

anyway I clicked on one of the links and saw that ops measurements are 45-38-48. I can guarantee that your weight is the reason why youre getting turned away. it is really rare that ive worked with someone that big and they all were hired much thinner. I would work on getting your waist down to 28 inches and most likely the rest of your body will look great at that point even tho your dreads still will probably make it harder for you. la is super competitive so you want to be in top shape there.

you guys are being way too mean to her. Sure I'll agree you have to look your best, but take in consideration that LA is a shit hole & is a VERY harsh place to work. She just needs to travel or move to the mid west or the east coast & I'm almost positive she'll have less hiring troubles. Even if she does need to tone up/ lose weight , it'll be easier for her if she's far away from the west coast IMO. People in LA have ridiculous expectations anyway as to what a "real" woman should look like. Just bc her measurements seem big doesn't mean she's ugly or shouldn't be a dancer! She may just have a larger frame than most of you.

^i'm not saying she's ugly, i think she's very pretty..i work on the east coast boston area, and from what i saw on the pics she would need to tone up to get hired at a "nice" place. clubs around me even have "weight limits" and will suspend you for gaining weight until you lose it, so its not just the west coast! i didn't make any judgments based on the measurements because some people carry it differently, but after seeing her pics its just my *truthful* opinion. i wasn't meaning to be insulting, but she asked so i gave my opinion. the stripping world is hard, its harsh, its cruel, to the mangers its about your looks, so i didn't want to sugarcoat it. i'm not even saying i personally think she should lose weight, but im suspecting its a huge part of why nobody would take her, that's all. and i would say maybe JUST her stomach from what i saw, she has a nice rack and booty

My best advice if she's reading this: Hit the gym, start eating right, drop some weight and tone up or GTFO outta LaLa land. If you can travel I know a few clubs in PA that might take you as is.

I think its a lot meaner to convince someone that there is nothing about their look that could be improved upon and the reason why someone isnt getting hired is because the managers are all racist. thats not fair to the girls or the managers. ive never seen a white girl with a 38 inch waist get hired in la. thats not mean, thats just my observation after working there for several years. besides, which would you rather hear-the problem is your race (which you cant change) or your weight (which you can easily change)?

altho I agree that she might have an easier time getting hired in another city, I would never recommend someone brand new to travel dance. its very expensive and draining and even girls that are experienced often struggle to get adjusted to a new city.

anyway I really don't want to come off as mean but I hope other girls read this and try to approach the industry a little more optimistic and realistic. work harder at perfecting yourself and dominate the clubs instead of allowing yourself to be shuffled around shitty clubs with shitty money. I regularly do rooms with hispanic and black girls and they make just as much as me. don't limit yourself to "black clubs." just persevere, take care of yourself and eventually you too will be making big $$

The only reason I'm telling her to travel is because PA has almost no standards, minus Delilah's, Risque, and a few other clubs. You don't even have to have teeth at some places! Hell a full set of teeth already gives her a +1 advantage measurements or no measurements.

Thank you again everyone for all your support and suggestions!

Shortly after I made this thread I got surgery on the sole of my foot to remove a large mole that turned out to be melanoma and frankly forgot that I even posted on here. It was supposed to be some minor surgery but it turned out she'd caught it before it could get any worse. Soo...yeah, I've been through a lot (more than what I've posted on my blog to make sure I remain cancer free) the past couple of weeks and I'm still healing. The doctor removed every layer of skin down to the muscle, it's been about three weeks and I still can't wear any shoes BUT at least I'm in the last stages of healing.

Overly harsh or not, I still really appreciate the advice and I'm still working on my body. I have already lost about 40lbs before I considered going to audition, so don't worry, I already know I need to lose weight. I just kept reading on here that clubs will still allow you to work in them because they know you'll lose more weight anyway. I've lost 10 more pounds since then, a total of 50lbs now and will continue to lose. I still have plans to return to auditioning very soon.

My measurements are also a bit outdated on Chaturbate, my waist is 32 now.

I keep a natural look for camming but I did do my makeup very glam. My camming look is a soft "girl-next-door" type but when I went to my auditions I put on eyeliner, lashes, did my lips, everything. I also should mention that I DID NOT go to any "white" clubs. Every club I went to was described as "mixed" with a lot of latinas and black girls working. I know I'm new but I did A LOT of research before I approached them, I asked friends who regularly attend stripclubs what the girls are like, and even have an account on Tuscl. I know if I want to work in a white club I have to be much much smaller but I was hoping I could get away with being a thickie in a black or mixed club while I still worked on my body.

I would hate to leave LA behind, I was born and raised here, but since I've been getting better I'm beginning to seriously consider it. Save up more money from camming and hit ATL, DMV, or maybe even PA. I hated the east coast, I went to college out there, I don't want to go back if I can help it.

Either way, still going to keep trying.

    Thank you again, ladies

Glad you're ok!!!! If you can get your waist down to the 20's then you'll be sitting pretty. You've come a long way already. Congrats!

Hi I would like to bump this thread as I feel similar to the OP. I am in Portland and dancing over 6 months at a dive, lately I have wanted to get into an upscale club and find that I cannot. When I started stripping I thought I had a pick of clubs to choose from, but after not being called back after auditioning at upscale clubs and then having dives beg me to work a shift the same day i audition i wonder what is stopping me from getting into a nicer club? Today a club manager confused me by giving me this mixed message after I auditioned: "you are an attractive girl who has an attractive ordinary look, but the club is looking for girls who look like strippers ... call back next week and maybe we will be more open to girls like you." the club did not have ANY girls when i auditioned ... i thought when I call back i should just hustle the manager into letting me work a shift ... But my other question is, because i am a dancer who dances in dives is it impossible to get into upscale clubs??? should i even bother trying???

I looked up your photos on xoticspot. I think you have a beautiful smile and you look energetic and engaging personality wise.

However, maybe I can shed some light since I work with my club's hiring manager on a continual basis. He is always looking/hoping for that 'super star'. That girl who has glamour, class, and who's dance style AND personality is enticing enough to attract customers and make them want to come back.

Such a girl is a rarity, but the closer to the ideal, the better. There is always a spot for such a girl, however there needs to a balance with every girl there being able to fit in to the overall 'look' of the club.

It seems the upper level clubs you want to get in to already have their quota of girl next door types (like you) and are stalling about adding an additional person. IF you really want to work at one of those clubs, you may have to apply several times. They may see your persistence as charming and decide to hire you , or it could go the other way. Only you can decide how much it is worth it to you.

I don't know what it's like in Portland since I work in LA, but I would say to maybe tone of your body a little bit and try and look a little more glamorous when going to auditions. I'm not really into the whole glamour thing but if you want to be a stripper you have to do it. When I work I curl my hair in big voluminous curls and do heavy eye make up with purple and pink, lots of liner (cat eyes) and fake lashes... I wear foundation, pounder, contour with bronzer... would I ever go out like that? Fuck no, I saw my ex bf before going to work once and had my full make up on and he was like wtf? lol. But for work I gotta do it.

And clubs are just insane about weight, I think you're gorgeous but there's a whole other standard when it comes to getting hired at a strip club.

i'm five years late to the thread and i wasn't even old enough to strip back then when this thread was written lol, but i have some things to say and add. i see that the op has given up on stripping in la due to the clubs anti blackness and bs hiring policies, and that the op is now more focused on camming instead.

anyways, i notice its a trend out there in the west coast with the strip clubs shooing away unambiguous black dancers away from attempting to audition or even showing up on the club premises and i find it horrible that y'all were dismissing the op claims and feelings about being shooed away from those places because of racism and focusing on their body type instead. yes, having a fit body is the most important thing for this job and for this industry indeed, but it doesn't matter to some of these club managers. we could easily get our make up done professionally, wear nice outfits, and have "wonderful bodies" and still be shooed away from auditioning. i've experienced the same shit while i was out living in phoenix these past couple of months and when i recently visited la. i would seriously call up and message these clubs on their social media pages and they would happily tell me their times and days when to show up to audition, and i would show up, then they will be like "sorry we aren't hiring right now"/"we are full of girls"/"come back *this certain time of day/month/year when we are busier*"/blah blah blah *insert whatever bs lie*. if that was the case, then why tell me over the phone or on social media that y'all weren't hiring?! i even came back the times, days, and months when they said they are busy and willing to audition me and they still shooed my black ass away lol. for those who are reading this & wondering my hair and makeup were always on point, and im 6' tall and i have a body like a early 2000's video vixen. im not the skinniest nor im not the fattest either, my tummy could use some slight toning, but it wont deter me from getting a job ya feel me? like it was bearable and i still got shooed away. i know deep down in my heart it be racism/anti blackness/colorism or whatever type of discrimination, because white or light skin dancers would show up as well to audition and they get a chance, but i don't?! wtf!!!! that's bs!!!! like that's common thing out there in the west coast and pretty much anywhere i assume that isn't the south/urban clubs lol. anti blackness is global. i have personally experience the bs that was covered during the #nycstripperstrike thing when i was living out there two years ago, but at least they'll let you work, audition, etc. out there in the west, they don't even let you enter the premises when they see that you are black lmao! what kind of shit? but yeah that's all i gotta say, i can see why the op had given up on the idea on stripping and moved onto online sex work instead. the op isn't buggin out and is hella valid on what they are saying! i've experienced the same thing and apparently im a little more thinner than them from what they have described on this thread. when poc feel something is racist or unjustifiable let them feel that way!
