Have you seen this docu series on youtube?

Oooh I need to finish it... I watched the first two and enjoyed them though. Those girls are badass.
"People jack off with the left hand and point with the right."
"You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."

LOLZ I dont dance. Have never dance professionally But I love how the ladies in this series all say that they were nervous or dont like to dance in front of people naked. I laughed so hard when I heard that
Wow, color me WAY impressed. Fantastic editing, great video quality, and they picked amazing women to interview. Thanks so much for posting this! I thought it was going to be another "horny dude films pussy popping stripper" so-called 'documentary' and almost didn't even start watching it.

I found this on tumblr. Gotta love social media. I hadnt seen it before today. And to be honest I'm not too happy with the representation of women in the adult industry right now. Not all of us come from broken backgrounds and are damaged damsels on the rise. These sort of stories inspire me even though Im not a dancer. But I can still relate.
its a great documentary. I checked it out earlier this year!! Based in my city ATL
That girl Cali reminds me of Top Model Eva Pigford, her look and her attitude.

I'm watching the rest of it now. Amazing how those women make those moves look so easy

LOL she said she's getting assHOLE naked! I've never heard it put quite like that before XD
-Sophia_StarinaThere is no reason to take it up the ass and then act all butthurt.
I loved the 3 episodes I watched !! WOW !
i wish they would have continued with more episodes. i loved this more then those stupid reality shows they were trying to get on the major next works. I definitely relate to Cali my coming into dancing was the same way. I had no idea about makeup, lashes or how to talk to customers i just had to watch and learn. hell im still learning lol

Great video. It take me back to how it feels to be new and naive. My only issue is the emphasis on pole dancing/ stage work.
Yes, I get the retired girl has a pole dancing business, HOWEVER all high $$$ clubs I've worked -- Scores NY, Rhino Vegas, and Lodge Dallas (hell even Rick's NOLA ) - NO poles on the main stage. REAL $$$ is VIP or stacking LD's, not wasting time on stage for nickle and dime tips. I know oh-so-many beautiful, talented, stage dancers who can't hustle on the floor. Just a word of advice 4 the newbz-- customers watch the stage, but they desire the girls who are in demand all night.
^ I agree, but I'm pretty sure Magic City is more of a stage club, and that's where all of those girls work/ed. The documentary definitely doesn't cover what it's like to work in dance-heavy clubs.
I'm just floored to see how much effort they put into the stage. That is a ton of WORK. I always told managers and customers- "Sorry, I'm a lapdancer not a stage dancer". Still great to see an honest portrayal of the biz.
I agree. Like if you don't have "stage presence" as they eloquently put it, you weren't good enough. We get it. Even though Magic City is all about the booty popping pole tricks, don't you still have to sell dances and rooms??
I work in NYC. We don't have poles, we have VIP rooms. I'd rather go home with a stack of 100's than a garbage bag full of 1's. I mean, I respect it. Before I got my boobs done, I would say I was pretty good on the pole but once I got to NY, I realized I dont have to hurt my pec muscles anymore haha.![]()
^At the same time, I'd rather be able to put on a kickass stage show and walk home with a garbage bag full of 1s than grind dick for 4-8 hours straight for a similar amount of money. If dancing were no- or low-contact, I'd still work in the biz regularly. Arielbriel - it sounds like you work in a club where VIPs don't solely consist of guys trying to grab all of your body parts to get their money's worth. Lucky!

for me lap dances are stage are about equally as draining, men are just so cheap..for lap dances, you HAVE to pay the 20/30 whatever, but for stage its whatever they want..if they're feeling generous and wanna put on a show , sure you'll get paid..otherwise, all your hard work is for pocket change. wish they could somehow change the rules so all the cheap sleaze balls couldn't just watch for free. thedarling, , most managers are ok with you only doing LDs and not stage? i would love to be able to do that! lol
True, ^simone but I think in these big urban clubs it's ALL about throwing money on the stage so they are going home with more than just pocket change. For us, it's almost pointless since there aren't ANY rules regarding tipping stage (in NYC) and it's just not the culture. Down south, you couldn't sit at the rack without tipping but that just meant a buck and I mean ..really??
Charlie61, not necessarily. Obviously more VIPs are good and I can just talk/drink/laugh and others are NOT. LOL but I know when I get in that room it's garanteed XXX amount you know as opposed to counting 1's and not really knowing. Like I said, I respect both hustles. It's not easy doing those crazy stage performances. As they emphasized, it takes legit skill. When I did do pole, I knew that my background in cheer & tumbling made it MUCH easier for me to get those advanced tricks down. The core strength and flexibility is just there.
Do they sell rooms there?

I had some obnoxious customer ask "What can you do?" I sneered "I don't have to do jack shit for2 very good reasons."![]()
This is the nature of urban clubs. There's more focus on stage because people wanna be seen. Guys rather throw 300$ in ones on the stage then hand you it for a champagne room . Personally even tho I'm not that great on pole work I enjoy doing stage . I'm not grinding on laps and trying to keep there hands away all night . Some urban clubs there lapdance are cheaper too I'm sorry but I'm not doing 5$ lapdances all night.
On the other hand thats probably why I suck at making money right now at my summer club. It's a lapdance club and on a Saturday I was only on the stage 3 times !!! So now you have to change your whole way of thinking and hustle harder because now all your money comes from dances.
clubs like magic are more physical work because your stage show is everything . But you really don't have to hustle as much or at all. If your pretty, can do more then the two step and have a little bit of moves your good . Bonus points if you have phat cheeks lol

I completely agree! I think it'd be exhausting working in a stage club like Magic City. Not to mention, I'm not talented enough dance-wise to do what they do. I can put on a very sexy show, but what they do is straight up athletic.
I just moved from WI, where CRs/VIPs were the norm. The last time I danced in WI, I made $1k in seven hours from one customer. So I completely agree that making a guaranteed XXX amount for a room is way better than working your ass off on stage, hoping some guy wants to make it rain on you. I'm not a big fan of going on stage, anyway. I like one-on-one customer interactions.
Unfortunately, I moved to the land of the $7-$10 dance. No one tips on stage. And people here are CHEAP. The "champagne rooms" and "VIPs" don't actually come with anything - no free drinks, etc. - so customers only buy them if they think you're going to give them extras. Don't worry about me though - I only dance every now and then, and my hustle is on point. I know how to deal with cheap, dumbfuck customers. I always make good money when I work. It's just a shame that I moved to a place where the dancing climate is so high-contact and cheap. It's one of the main reasons I hardly dance anymore.
I mean, it kills me that for the first time in my dancing career, my appearance is perfect for a high-end "gentlemen's club" where CRs are $600+/hour. I want to be able to wear my slinky, expensive gown and have customers actually give a shit that I have a beautiful face and body. I want them to care that I'm a great conversationalist who's also intelligent. And instead I'm stuck in a place where the clubs are so dark that you can hardly even see dancers' eyes when they sit next to you (even when they're completely rimmed in eyeliner), selling $10 table dances. We become walking bodies. It's unfortunate.
I love this line in the documentary: "I'm your favorite stripper's favorite stripper." NICE!
