Has anyone gotten one, what was your experience, would you recommend it? What kind of hair do you have and how long did it last for, and what was your hair like afterwords?
Thanks

I've received a brazilian blowout and a brazilian keratin treatment. My natural hair is curly/wavy, extremely thick and coarse. The Brazilian blowout works better when you repeatedly have it done--I think the best results are when you consistently have it done on already brazilianed hair. I grew out my natural hair again, had it done and it barely lasted..At two months my hair was almost back to its natural state :/. The results are that my hair is almost straight but a natural straight with a couple waves, and it's a tad softer and more manageable.
I prefer the Brazilian Keratin treatment--it's a bit more pricey but it lasts a few months as opposed to one to two. My hair might not be as straight as with the blowout but the waves are really pretty--they're like beachy waves that are smooth and soft. My next treatment will definitely be the BK over the Brazilian Blowout.

Hi, I get the Japanese hair straightening done. I just went this week to have my roots touched up and they suggested I do a Brazilian Keratin treatment too because my hair is super dry on the ends (I've bleached it twice in the past few months) and in need of some TLC. My hair felt amazing when I left- so soft and silky. Tomorrow is the first day I can wash it, so we shall see how it feels after the first wash. But, I think if all goes well, I will for sure do the Keratin again just to keep my hair feeling and looking healthier. I love and need the Japanese straightening, but my hair was sooo curly and out of control and I wanted stick straight hair. If you just want to cut the frizz and have your hair feel silky and smooth- the Brazilian Keratin is the way to go.

I realize reading that it's not the same as what I got, the brazilian keratine. I loved it, specially because what I wanted was to get SOME hair back after having it really damaged from pregnancy, carelessness, etc. What it did was completely restore my hair! It became shiny and smooth again, and first I had really loose and silken waves which were fun to play with, since I naturally have curly and thick and frizzy hair, so I have to embrace the friggin texture and I have to play up my curls up like an egyptian/flashdance style, people like it on me but I don't like it very much.
on the whole I think it's completely worth the investment, but I guess it depends on what you're looking for. If you want it really straight, this is not going to make it happen, you'll still need to use an iron to style it, which to me defeats its whole purpose as a straightening treatment.
ETA I only had it done once about 18 months ago, and even though I'd love to get it again I haven't been able so far to afford it again.something always comes up. Still I can still feel its effects, I love my hair right now, it's healthy and shiny though back to its unruly curly self, but that is really amazing considering I considered briefly to just shave off my head, my hair was so dry, brittle and opaque. My hair looked like something that someone has pulled from under the bed. >_<
How much does the brazilian keratin or blowout cost, on average?

The BK's around $250. I believe? Ulta has it for $162

I actually have been getting Brazilian treatment for 9 months. The first two times I was getting compliments, everyone envied my hair. It made it softer and waay more manageable. Unfortunately, after my third trial I noticed after a couple months my hair starting falling like in chunks. Omg I was sooo devastated. I thought it was the keratin so I looked it up and lo and behold it was. Now I'm trying to find an alternative. So if anyone knows any good ones please do share! I honestly would not recommend keratin treatment for the long haul unless you want thin balding hair.

i want to try this, but i hear it has liquid formaldehyde in it a lot of times? anybody know if that's a thing of the past?

Oooh, thanks, I already had that prob. I thought it was hormonal but it turned out to be stress..
There's this product line Philip Kingsley, also he has it on his name site (in UK) if you put in your postal/zip code it'll give you nearest salon that sells it this place's in UK too> http://www.feelunique.com/
Anyway, he's a trichologist..
Someone on here also mentioned the Shu Umera line a mask that's really good
Kerastace is great too.

Pretty much had the same experience. Your hair needs a balance of protein and moisture and the keratin treatments seal your cuticle, not allowing moisture in. If your hair is in need of protein this can be helpful at first but eventually the balance is tipped. Also using the hot iron to seal it is damaging enough in itself.
Use a coconut (full fat can) milk mask for a protein treatment and follow with a deep conditioner. Also Aphogee makes a great 2 step protein treatment that is useful for damaged, overbleached hair.
If your ends are dry and brittle, you don't need protein, I think you need a deep conditioning treatment. Try adding honey, aloe vera and olive or coconut oil (warm) to your conditioner and leave on, preferable wrapped, for at least 20 mins.
