I'm feeling a little discouraged, and a *lot* stupid right now. Last night I searched "basic floor work tutorial" on youtube, looking to add maybe 1 new move to my very limited arsenal. I nailed "The Clock", but really, that thing is so simple anyone should be able to do it. I should have stopped there, but, feeling motivated, I went on...
This vid popped up, calling itself "basic". She starts with "soft pedaling"... ok, great. Looks pretty, but who doesn't already do it? Then, in a freaking FLASH she flips her legs over her head and lands on her stomach.
"BASIC". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyn-6GxM37c
I attempt to do this, manage to get my toes touching the floor above my head, then nearly break my neck on the flipping over part. My husband, who has been half-watching me, hears my groans of displeasure and offers to "spot" me. I take him up on it. He's all, "you can do this, it's easy", and begins to coach me. "You have to push yourself over with your arms'," he says.
So I try even harder this time, and hurt the fuck outta my right tricep in the process. I immediately remove all stripperish attire, get into my jammies, and retire to the couch in a huff to watch Dexter.
This is the part where you lovelies remind me that it is not all about moves on stage, and then maybe suggest some easier ones to start with, anyway.
Love y'all...

When I was trying to learn moves when I first started, I literally fell off the pole and onto my back in front of a half full club. But now I can climb and cling to the pole like it's nobody's business. It's going to be a lot of trial and error in the beginning but once you nail it, which you will, it's easy street from then on. Find what moves work and don't work for you. I think floor work is much harder than pole work; it requires so much more creativity since it's just you and your body.
