    Default Amazon Wishlist Prank?

Sorry if this is posted about elsewhere; I searched and couldn't find anything.

I awoke this morning to find I had a package from Amazon to my performer name, so I got excited, this being the first time someone bought me something off my wishlist. Nobody had sent me any messages, so I wasn't expecting it and had no idea who it could be from. The label said it was from "Flirty Aprons," which made me happy because I have a couple of their aprons on my wishlist, and they're really cute. But I noticed the box was unusually heavy for an apron. Well, after opening it up, I find a 5-pound bag of macadamia nuts, lol. I'm so confused! I'm allergic to most nuts, including macadamia, so I definitely don't have them on my wishlist! My first thought was that this was some sort of prank, like some dumb man child out there going through all this trouble to tell me to "suck his nuts" or whatever, but I'm perplexed by why the box said Flirty Aprons. There's no invoice or anything, just the nuts and some packing material, so I have no idea if it really was supposed to be an apron and there was some weird mix-up.

Is there any way I can find out who sent it or if it was mix-up? I feel unsure of how to go about it until I know if it was a prank or not. Has anything like this happened to any of you ladies? Sorry my first post is so weird, haha.

At the top of your wishlist you should see the option to display "purchased" items. Click on that, and the top item should be what the nuts were supposed to be. I'm thinking that the company that sends the aprons also sells nuts, and mixed up the order?

I don't believe guys can just send you any random thing off amazon, only the things on your wishlist. It's likely a mistake by the amazon seller, in which case you could probably call them.

Yes, anyone can send you anything if you choose to show your wishlist address. If you choose not to show it, but instead to display it to third-party sellers, then theoretically the person would have to order something ON your wishlist in order to also order something that's not on your wishlist. Just contact the company, give them the info, and see what they say.

My advice to anyone using a wishlist is to NOT open any packages that you're not expecting until you find out what they are.

And I sure hope that by "I awoke this morning to find I had a package" you don't mean at your home address.

Actually guys can send you whatever they want as long as they buy one thing from your wishlist to piggy back everything else on. I've received lots of things that weren't on my wishlist and they came packed with something small like a bottle of massage oil or panties from my list.

If the label says the Apron Company though, that's a bit odd. Sometimes if you don't have an order number, you can contact support and they can find out the information. Perhaps another box will come and clear things up.

Thanks, qurl! I checked on Amazon and saw that it was supposed to be an apron! I'm relieved that some disgruntled guy wasn't trying to prank me, haha, but now begins the headache of trying to get the actual apron, since there's no receipt/order number, and you can't return food items. ugh. >_<

You're absolutely right, Jess, it was pretty foolish of me to go ahead and open it when I could tell it wasn't an apron. Something about the weight and size of it though made me think maybe it was a pair of shoes with the apron. I'll have to remember to be more careful in the future.

I do use my home address, but I use the trick of putting my town in the second address field, and my county in the town field, so people can only see my county and state. And I have my settings so that I don't accept any third-party sellers so someone can't get my address that way.

Live chat amazon and explain the situation, they can likely get it fixed: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/conta...UTF8&skip=true
They can look up the order number and such, just explain it as you have here (that it was a gift purchase off your wishlist, and you have no idea who bought it for you)
They will let you just keep the nuts and send out an apron... well that's about my experience in vaguely similar situations, so hopefully the same level of amazon customer service will apply to you.

I had to return a pair of shoes a customer bought me once. I got the order # from him and had to pay to send the shoes back. If the order # is on the receipt, you should be all set. And they shouldn't make you send it back, since that's not what was ordered in the first place.

A quick update if anyone's interested: I contacted Amazon and explained the situation; I guess I was lucky and got a good customer service rep who was apologetic and courteous. They told me they wanted me to send the nuts back, which I thought was kinda weird since it's food, but whatever, I didn't open them and like I said I'm allergic to nuts so I had no use for them anyway! They sent me a shipping label, so they paid for the shipping, I'm assuming because it was their mistake, and said they'd send me an Amazon gift card for the amount of the apron. I'm still waiting on that, so we'll see.

Thanks so much for all your help, ladies!<3 You're all awesome!

AWw! You must have been so sad when you opened the box of evil nuts. That could have been a really mean prank considering you are allergic. My mind would have went to the same place too.

That's a good idea! Unfortunately the name of my county is also the name of the city next to the city I live in, and most of the stores I shop at on a regular basis are there.
