Thumbs up Worked my first shift yesterday...

    Time for some good news!
I worked my first full shift (7 hours) at my very favorite club yesterday. Maybe I should clarify... it was my first shift there in 15 years!
I know it is somewhat unusual to really *love* a club and feel some loyalty to it, but I do this one.
I love it for its cleanliness, the friendliness of the dancers and staff, and just the general atmosphere. It's small enough to not be intimidating, but nice enough to not feel anything like a dive. I've always felt at home there.
I was a little apprehensive going in, that maybe so many years later, it may have gone downhill in some ways, but...
Nope! I was so relieved, impressed even.
I did expect that the money would be a little harder to get to than it was in the 90's, just as is the case anywhere now, and that turned out to be true. But, as dead as it was, it still wasn't *that* bad... I left with $134... and didn't really hustle too hard. I just kinda stayed visible, and offered what I had to give.
I do want to thank all of you for your intelligent and hard-learned advice and information. I put a ton of it to work yesterday, and it really did pay off.
    Such as:
Greeting customers with your name and letting them know you are available to them as soon as they walk in the door, almost
like a server would to a table at a restaurant. I got $50 in dances (2 songs) off just that move alone... and there were only 6 customers in the club between 2 & 9!

Ramping up the sexiness of the dance just before the song ends and assuring the customer that he doesn't want you to stop... "you want me to keep going, don't you? *nod nod nod*"... yup, I ripped that one off word for word, and it worked! (another $50).

I was terrified of getting on stage, as it has never been my strong suit... but i just fucked everybody with my eyeballs while repeating the same 3 poses over & over, and just kinda did the slow slutty stroll the rest of the time, and I was just fine.
I only fell once, and that was into a girl's lap as i was dancing for her & her husband. They were cool with it, surprise surprise.
All in all, a great day. I got hugs from the bartender and 2 girls I had been sitting at the bar with when I left. Lalalala.

Thank you all again, for all of your encouragement and spot-on advice! It's amazing how much it really, truly helps!

I'm glad to hear you had a good shift! I'm the same way being on stage; I used to do all sorts of pole tricks but at my particular club I quickly learned it doesn't pay off. The slow sexy thing gets me just as many or more dances.

Quick question: I've noticed guys HATE at my club being immediately approached. They always seem to prefer sitting down and having a few sips of their drinks before talking to anybody. That's one of my techniques is patiently waiting while other girls approach and get rejected and then I move in for the kill. I may try your technique though to see how it pans out.

    Keep up the great work!
I'd grab my trumpet and I'd do a stripper sound, like the old Louis Armstrong, real raspy. And the people would go nuts! Then I knew that the sexual, sensual, guttural sound, that throbbing sound, is where it's at.

Glad your first shift back went to well and the club hasn't changed too much. May you make even more on your next shifts!

The thing is, I didn't try to *sell* them anything at all on the first approach... just introduced myself and let them know I was there if they needed me. Waited til they got their drinks & looked "situated". It worked with the married couple... they actually came to me for the dance, and not much later. The 'wait til everyone else has been rejected' tactic sounds smart, though... I'll definitely keep that in mind the next time I work. This particular time, there were only 2 other girls present, and they were both draped all over some furniture... not real sure what that was all about, as they were bitching about his cheapness later in the DR...

The problem with waiting for everyone else to get rejected first is that everyone may not get rejected. I'm totally in agreement that you shouldn't pounce on someone as soon as they walk in the door, sit down, or get their drink, but there's also something to be said for the early bird getting the worm. Let them settle, yes, but some dudes aren't looking for anyone in particular and just need to be offered a dance shortly after getting in, so don't wait too long to pounce!

I also agree with letting them sit down and getting a drink BeFORE approaching.
