Default Offering help with computer problems

Hi, I hate to say this but I am kind of a 'techi' girl. Since I have some free time I would like to offer my help to anyone experiencing computer issues (slow computer etc),software problems, virus problems or needing any suggestions , I would try my best to help out. I have gained so much from this community in such a short time, I would really feel good if I can contribute to this great community in any way.

    Hi nadia,
How about this. The SM encoder 3.1 shoots my CPU usage to 100% with the new WS settings. I have carefully went through my task manager and have taken every suggestion I have found on this site. I am running Windows i5 with 6 gb of RAM. I can add another 2 gb, do you think this will alleviate the problem?

When my CPU shoots up my broadcast is sketchy/drops frames with the recommended settings. If I use the lower setting my place drops significantly. My fp is will only go to about 11-14 and my bit rate stays around 300....
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Jack

    You need more RAM.
Also, there are 100s of models of i5 processors ranging from absolute shit to high end. Can you get the specific model (or at least your ghz)?
Finally, what graphics card do you have?

twisted, how do i find this graphics card?

when I type it in "no search for your criteria"

I was having issues w bit rates for almost 3 weeks. Today I found that having a light directly behind my PC keeps me clean. IDK if this is a perm fix, but its working so far. Just thought I would mention it since we are having the same issue.

Sister, first I am really sorry for your problems. Lets do the following and take it from there. It will take some patience but I guess we can fix it. And I think your RAM is more than enough, no need to put any extra RAM.

    Step 1

    Download SecurityCheck from here:

    Save it to your desktop.
Double-click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the instructions inside of the black box.
A Notepad window called Checkup.txt should automatically open.
Copy and paste that here or send that to me.

    Step 2

Please run a free online scan with ESET Online Scanner by downloading it here:

    Save it to your desktop.

Double-click esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe to execute the program.
Tick Yes, I accept the Terms of Use.
    Click Start.
If this is your first time installing the scanner, allow the ActiveX Control to install.
Database download may take some time.
When done, make sure that the option "Remove found threats" is ticked under the "Advanced Settings", please put a check on the following options:
    Scan for potentially unwanted applications
    Enable Anti-Stealth Technology
    Click Start.
Wait for the scan to finish.
Once it is finished, use Notepad to open the log file located at C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Online Scanner\log.txt (32-bit) or C:\Program Files (x86)\ESET\ESET Online Scanner\log.txt (64-bit).
Copy and paste that log here or send that to me.

    Step 3

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware . If you have done this previously, please do not disregard my instructions and repeat the process.

Double-click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a check mark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select Perform Full Scan, then click Scan. The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart. Restart if it tells you to.
The log is automatically saved by Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in the interface.
Copy and paste that log here or send it to me.

I suggest you spend some time in doing this and then we can look into the problem

Um, I am confused to how her running and malware and virus scan is going to help with her problem. I am sure that a techi girl like your self has looked into the Adobe encoder and knows that just like Adobe's other flagship product 'Photoshop' it is a well know RAM hog.

First I wanted to make sure that she is not infected with any viruses or any program running on the background eating up CPU resources. and if that is not the case then we will look into the other solutions.

That I understand but you completely dismissed the fact that she might not have enough ram. In fact you said you believed she had enough and thus my original question.

...sorry sister, i should not have dismissed the possibility. But I thought that is a distant possibility and will consider it later. May be if we can't find any other issue then i will consider it. 6 gig RAM is quite significant.

With the encoder? I have to respectfully disagree on that point.

I have an OTT light. I tried it before and didn't like it but I didn't have it right behind my cam.

I know the c920 has the video processing built in to the camera unlike the 910 which did it via the program. This can cause usage to increase, but it shouldn't be that drastic.

Logically this should actually make the CPU usage less since the computer's CPU is not doing the processing. However, The onboard compression can only be used properly (no additional CPU usage) when you use the Logitech software. 3rd party software cant use or even see the H264 stream without using additional CPU power.

@Sammii , have you installed the logitech software that came with it? and also what resolution is your video output from the webcam and which resolution you are trying to upload?

On this note, I'm leaving this thread to you and I'll stick to the already existing tech thread and the PMs for help I receive. Good luck.

Well, the Logitech c920 does the processing in the camera, BUT it only lowers the cpu usage with the standard logitech software being used. 3rd party software (such as the encoder) causes usage to increase as it doesn't have the Logitech software to process it. That's what you can find out through minimal research on the camera.
