So I am doing research for my blog www.thecamgirlexpert.com and came across this website http://camgirltax.com/Taxes_101.html

I am wondering if anyone knows about it, or know who they are. or what their deal is they seem to cater to camgirls and filing taxes.

I was just looking at the site, whoever they are , they spell very badly, not interested. To me, if you cannot spell words properly and build an entire site saying Filling?? instead of Filing. Why would I entrust you to do my taxes. No thanks. And frankly they say this said person is the Accountant behind camgirl tax. I would definately verify that first before using their services.

Omg the amount of misspelled words, Exculsions Apply?? whaaaaaaaaaaa... doesn't seem legit, seems like a scam to me... This site looks like a site that was thrown together not even spell check?? HUH??? who puts an entire site together sticks it on the internet without even proper spelling?? so not serious.

Here is the REAL Bret Whipple take a look at his site. How professional it is.
    http://mylasvegaslawyer.com/

So I emailed the real Bret Whipple and asked if he knows anything about this site...LOL

The more I look at this site the more I see what a scam they are taking advantage of cam girls. Seriously back away from them, Trying to find out who owns this site.. it was created by website builder on godaddy. Seriously??

Look up who is on GoDaddy. It looks like the site is registered to a 23 yr old model from Las Vegas.. I am just sayin'

After a bitter experience with an accountant with "camgirl" and "adult" in various parts of his advertising, I now won't touch anyone who who actively markets their service TO camgirls/ adult workers in specific, unless they are female. Those guys are just looking for yet another way to get a free shag or some other perk. Stick to straight accountants, who just happenhave experience with people in the adult industry x

my god, the 'information' posted there made me cringe...

"Grooming- Cam girls MUST look their best, so anything you purchase for appearance can be a write off. Make-up, Hair, Nails, Tanning, Gym, Cosmetic Surgery, Waxing, even body wash. (We've all done a shower show or two in our careers.)"

Which is total bollocks as we all know since those things cannot always be claimed for, in fact most cannot full stop.

My own chartered accountant suggests the same things for me to claim - ALL cosmetic items I use can... Never had an issue yet. :/

Be careful because if you're ever audited, they are likely to sting you on anything which has dual purpose, like cosmetics, lingerie, even sex toys. Unless I have a way of proving something like that is solely for my business, I don't claim for it just in case. You can add the claim somewhere else though, say for "travel costs" to work with other girls or to your accountant etc.

I would never claim make-up, hair items, manicures, lingerie, lube, toys, etc for this reason. It's not worth getting audited. I hear once you get audited, you're under extra scrutiny. The only "iffy" thing I've ever claimed is mileage, but I print maps and write the date and reason.

What I do to lessen the cost of items I can't claim is use my gift cards to purchase the items. I use cash/credit to purchase items that I can claim. This makes sense audit-wise, since I don't claim gift cards as income.

I figure the onus is on my accountant for that, being as he's responsible for not fucking that shit up? :/ I can't recall perfectly, but I am SURE I remember reading on my last tax thinger, that lawfully my accountant accepts responsibility for it..

That's great if that's the case. When I was using H&R Block, the document said they were responsible, and I had Audit Protection. With my last accountant, I had to sign a waiver saying that he did not accept responsibility. I'm getting a new accountant this year for that reason, but I still wouldn't want to trigger an audit, even if it all worked out in the end.

Personally I've found these types of deductions to not even be worth it. The write off is so minimal for things like hair, makeup, etc in comparison to income, it really doesn't make a dent in taxes paid. I only claim things like computer, office space, etc..

I claim some of these things but damn never body wash haha that's a little much and a pain to keep track of, bc you cant just claim it one month then forget to claim it a few months later, theyll wonder why and (may) ask specifically about that item - they do track behavioral stuff connected to what you claim. Body wash isnt a single use item so youd have to be ruthlessly diligent about consistently claiming it and explaining why youre claiming it and how it pertains to your job. Hygiene products are a gray area for performers in general, so idk, it is best to weigh legally what you can do and what is a pain in the ass to do with what may trigger an audit. Even if it is legal and you can do it, doesnt mean it wont trigger an audit. And if youd rather not deal with that or getting hit penalties out of the blue - weigh a few bucks against sticking a craw in the IRS's ass. Esp if you bought those things before camming and records exist of you doing so bc thatll could come up in an audit as well.

I see an accountant who absorbs liability (but they only do to a point though) but his defense when I bring certain receipts u is lways "imagine everything you claim, youre before a criminal investigation board and you have to defend and explicitly explain why you claimed it verbally and written.... you sure you want a deposition to exist out there where youre talking about claiming cooking oil as a sexual lubricant and balloons? To save a few bucks? Just absorb the expense and claim the heavy stuff. If you worked in a different industry I wouldnt say this but it is what it is". So yea. He gives me that speech everytime: basically weigh what is technically legal to clam VS being in a scrutinized field with varying paychecks from multiple sources... and then decide, ykwim? eh I dont word that well.

IDK adult industry = the taxman pays close attention, usually best to ensure youre getting info from someone with a verifiable professional licensed background in taxes. The IRS wont be like "Oh faceless people on websites called camgirltax or stripperweb.com said you can do this? OK our bad, we'll lay off". I know it is common for us to consult paraprofessionals bc we're all so used to getting info from each other about our work, but camgirls getting audited or penalized isnt an urban myth it happens a fuckton, best to go directly to someone who is an absolute licensed verifiable professional for your state + country and can point to specific tax laws to specifically explain everything and the hows and whys for what youre filing, how much you have to pay, etc etc. IDK that tends to be my opinion when tax stuff comes up here, just wanted to throw that out there.

(sorry this comment is super US centric)

An accountant here I was going to try even just asks for the total of your writeoffs and losses. He doesn't ask to see your receipts and apparently knows lots of loopholes which can be risky but I make so little, I doubt they'd go after me, especially with a very low amount written off. I do sell clothes occasionally so I do have "losses" when something doesn't sell. Hopefully they never go after me, I hate paying for medicare I'll never use. That's what bugs me the most about them. I've only filed once and I made $2K from freelance modeling and checks from family (traceable) 2 years ago (I'm on an extension for last years currently) and I had student fees which the CPA told me and according to my calculations would have ended up in me getting $410 back. I got a letter saying they didnt owe me anything and I dont owe them anything. I was pissed but I'm even more mad now that I've got to pay every year. Crap sucks.

I'm with Incantatious on this one, my accountant (ex tax inspector ) advised me to claim on absolutely everything that is/can be used for camming. As far as outfits, make up, footwear, hair dye etc etc I try to take pics/clips of me using or wearing these items just in case. I'm not sure but I think the process is different in the UK. My accountant only asks for income and expenditure figures, he then puts them into the tax return and calculates the tax figure, so he never see's the reciepts so doesn't know what I'm claiming for. I agree also that the tax man is not really interested small business's and as long as our figures are steady year on year and there is no sudden big rise in deductions or income he's not really worried.

As for this particular company, I wouldn't touch it with somebody elses

Actually.... I'm too lazy to keep up with all those receipts and stuff.... so I justify that by saying it isn't worth the write off! HA!

I just think.... "few bucks here, few bucks there... eh not worth it!" I wonder how much I'm actually spending on stuff I could be writing off... probably not much since I'm kind of a boring standard issue cam girl... no awesome outfits or expensive makeup!

HAHA! I'm picturing how that would go.... could you charge them per minute for the detailed description of how exactly you use those balloons and cooking oil?

I would love to claim for absolutely everything, but having seen a good friend of mine (who runs several fetish sites) get audited and STILL being under scrutiny and paying them back 10 years later, I'm just not willing to risk it. It's like not paying for insurance to save £20 per month then being faced with an immediate 20k medical bill you just have no way of paying :-/

On that note, I have to do my tax return all by myself for the first time this year! It's scary!!
