Take arnica tablets or use arnica cream for the bruising. I use dry hands pole work - it goes on liquid and dries clear. As for the knees and elbows, there's nothing really to do except get used to it. You can wear knee/thigh high socks which can help sliding for floorwork but it sucks for pole work.

thigh high boots, they were my savior when i had bursitis in my knee last summer! they offer more padding, and i was even able to put some extra padding in there and it hid them. they also help you grip the pole better with your legs. your knees and elbows WILL toughen up though, its weird. i was bruised and sore when i started but now my skin and bones are used to it.
ashy? you mean dry skin?you can put on lotion right after you get out of the shower, just don't put it on right before you hit the stage..and no baby oil whatever you do lol. just clean the pole off really well, they SHOULD have some sanitizer and a towel for the pole in your club. i also use baby powder on my palms sometimes, just a dusting then clap my hands over a trash.
