    Default What would you do?

At the club I am at, I have been working three days per week for about a month. We make our own schedule, we just tell our boss which days we can/want to work each week. Last week, I put myself on schedule for the two days I wanted to work and worked the two days. I worked at a different club on the third day I usually work at my home club cause there is better money on this day at the other club. When I got to work last night, my boss was like "where were you?" he says I was on the schedule for that third day but I was not I remember specifically only scheduling myself for two days and he even gave me a funny look when I did it. Now this week I wasnt even asked to put myself on the schedule and just showed up for work last night and will do the same tonight but I am wanting to just keep working at the other club one day per week and mine for the other two days. I know my boss is gunna ask me why I am not working that third day, what should I say?lol. Also, I am worried that he is gunna assume I am coming in this week for the third day but I am not, as I want to work at the other club instead. What would you guys do in my situation? talk to him to make sure he knows I wont be coming in or just not show up cause technically I never put myself on schedule but as I stated before I did this last week and he wanted to know where I was as if it was a problem. He apparently even tried calling me but my phone number had changed so, yea, what do u guys think?

Maybe just talk to him and see if you can cut back to 2 days/week instead of 3 on the schedule? Do you have anything else (school/vanilla job/etc) that you do that could be used as an excuse for this?
“The irony of commitment is that it's deeply liberating -- in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around like rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life.”

It's none of his business. Just say you have personal matters to attend to and will only be available for two shifts a week in the near future.

banhammergoddess, IKNOright its so none of his business but hes trying to get all in it, and I dont want to piss him off cause I dont want to be fired. I am wondering tho, should I even have this conversation cause I never put myself on the schedule this week but then again I didnt last week either and he called me and everything.

since he seems to depend on you for shifts and his behavior makes that clear I don't think you should be worried about being fired.

Just keep your boundaries. Just tell him you're going through some stuff right now and at the moment you are only able to offer two days a week. You could also do what whirlerz says and let him "think" you may come in for another shift but let him know that you're not committing to that.

shut down his nosiness because later on, he could find out you've been at this club and then lying about it makes you look bad no matter how much he pressured you for answers that made you feel uncomfortable.

In the future, make your schedule so you don't have any overlaps or conflicts. Make a note of the schedule. If anyone asks why you didn't come in for the 3rd day, simply explain that you were not scheduled and leave it at that.

Unless your club has a 3 shift minimum, I don't see any reason to worry about getting fired. Keep not scheduling yourself for it and, if asked, just say something has come up on Thursdays or whatever day it is, and leave it at that. You have no obligation to a third shift or an excuse for working less often. Be nice about it, but don't feel bad about not giving more details.

Thanks guys this is all good advice. But do you guys think I should specifically address this issue tonight, like when I am leaving say, "now you know I cant come in tomorrow right? I just wanted to make sure there is no mix up like last week." The only thing is when I was asked about where I was last week he pressed and I said I had family come into town so I couldnt, now I guess I could just use the school excuse...

Keep it brief, tell him you have sm personal matters to attend to. Also if you feel like it & have the time, why not pop in on one of your off days? That way you're still getting in three shifts & It might get him to back off a bit if he sees you're willing to put in that extra bit of time when you can.

Or you could just say really loudly with eye contact on your way out the door "See you NEXT WEEK!"

Rule 3: strip club managers are like strip club dj's and bouncers. wannabe owners of the club who aren't ever going to own one.
