Question Fucking a broker for a nice apt- good idea or run away?

I will make this to the point: bad credit/no co signer, no proof of income besides a letter form the club I work at....I need an apt close enough to work and cheap and quick. Like by next week. I met this broker who showed me a couple places and one apt was perfect....very affordable and cute and great location. He said no worries about the credit or proof if income. It's all mine. The broker fee is $1500. With tuition coming up ad the fees to move in, I can't afford everything. He said for a fuck he would take off his fee and I would just pay rent and deposit and I can move in ASAP. Anyone have experience with this? How do I know he's not bullshitting about his fee being that much anyway? I'm in NYC btw. I need to make a quick decision and make sure I'm not getting totally fucked over. Thanks ladies!

... your broker doesn't sound very professional IMHO.

Yes he's not....obviously he could get into a lot of trouble and he's very clearly taking advantage of my situation. Either way, I knew it might come to this so I'm mentally prepared I just want to get this over with and be able to move in without too much drama

I say report him and move on. Unless you get it in writing (which I assume no one would sign a note like that) he will more than likely screw you twice. Literally and then say "Oh my bad you owe me $" Is there anyone at work you trust enough to ask if you could crash on their couch until you can get your own place?

get a new broker! no no, sounds way too sketchy! if you are going to do anything like that, just escort to get the money, he sounds like a con artist and a sleazebag. that sounds like an extremely high price, does he own his own business or is he employed by a company? sorry i don't know anything about brokers but i do know something about con men. this guy is a real broker? wtf, just no girly!

I'm a bit worried that he'll get his "fuck" and you'll still be without a place or after you move in he randomly stops by to well.. "fuck". Yes it seems like predators are getting bolder each year. I'm actually surprised he actually said that to your face. Does he work for an agency?

Man, in NYC, I could totally see this happening all the time! I mean, how can you be sure he'll follow through with it? In all brutal honestly, I say go for it but maintain total control of the hustle. In this case, do not fuck him before you have paid for the place and have keys, in hand!! Seriously. Think of it like an escort takes a deposit, except in this case, the deposit is his fee. Make him follow through with the entire deal, get you in the door, and tell him the first night you have the place settled in you name, you guys can have a "date". If he says that's a no-go, part ways and move on. Just drop it. Don't negotiate. My main concern is that if you fight about it and the deal goes sour, he could turn you in, himself and get you blacklisted from being dealt with by other brokers. I'm not sure if that's totally possible, I'm just speculating.

Anyway, it's not above me to do something like this! But make your own terms, in your own best interest and stick to them!! Good luck!

I did this for a car when I was 22. Same situation. I was the one that sexed up the scene when hunting for a car.

The dangerous risk I took is he had the title to the car. Weekly dates until it was paid.
    1. I constantly worried if I was not available , he would come for the car
    2. the car was only 4,000 but the worry of his call coming in at the wrong time, his wife possibly being there, pissing him off , he became needy at the end, playful with the title.

It was not a good decision, but, i needed a car.

    I understand if correct,
yours is a one time deal. He is a broker ,
much better than a scummy used car sales man

This was 1999 I am much older and established now. Learned from my lesson(s)

Some more info: it's pretty standard for brokers to charge a fee that's the same amount as a month of rent so $1500 isn't a crazy amount now that I think about it. Also, I don't know anyone in this city and people don't generally let you crash for free here even if you know them....another perk of this apt is that it's 2 bedroom so I can sublease the second room and pay half the rent. It's technically a good deal if I can make sure the lease is legit.

It's not so easy to just move on. I'm in NYC, landlords want to see good credit or at least good proof of income. I have neither. Even in the bad parts of town I've been turned down because of this. If I had more time then maybe I would run across something. No I can't rent a room or sublease for other reasons I need my own place. Trust me I know I fucked up with my credit and planning and so it's come to this. I just want to make sure I get the place. Is there a possibility he gives me a bullshit lease? If I have the keys does it matter? I have texts showing that he is flirting with me but nothing about what he said to me in person. I suspect that he's done is before and yeah he's scum but I don't get the vibe that he will try to fuck me out of an apt....I don't see the point of that. He does work for the company. Actually, I went into his office. The first time it was obvious he liked me so I did take advantage and flirted back to see if maybe he would give me a deal. The second time in his office he introduced me to his co workers as his new girlfriend. He's not shy about it at all. I overheard him tell his colleague he was going to rent out the place to me so don't show it to anyone else. Sounds like this isn't the first time.

    Thanks for all your perspectives.

That part I bolded was what I'm worrying about. If he's legit and does what he says he's going to do then that's great but my worry is that he'll keep coming back way after that 1 shot deal.

How about this plan: pay off the deposit and rent and sign the lease in the office and get my copy. I have a lawyer regular at work, maybe he can look it over for me to make sure it's legit. Then I can take care of his "fee" later.

Yeah I was worried about that too....I actually mentioned that to him...I asked him why he kept saying I was his gf and he's like well I want to take you shopping and we can have an arrangement separate from the apt issue. I was considering keeping him as a source of side income. Once I have a lease he can't kick me out for not fucking him, right? I will wear a damn pin camera if I have to and take him to court over that shit.

I think consenting adults can/should do whatever they want, so if you are really comfortable with it I guess go for it. I would be most concerned he introduced you as his new girlfriend....that's just weird :/

Sounds like a typical New York City businessman to me...ha! Honestly, I'd fuck to get an apartment in New York...just dig dirt up on him to make sure he isn't a bullshitter...and keep us posted!

AirBNB is not a viable option in New York, believe me. And it is really hard to rent. You kind of have to jump on what you can, especially given her situation. Everyone is jumping that he sounds so sketchy, but guys in new York...idk, they just have a different way of doing things, different mentality, whatever, than other cities. Just what I noticed. I honestly think she will be fine, I would just research as MUCH as I could about the guy

Once her siggy is on the lease he cant back out. Its a legal document
    and
I wouldnt think he would want this in court
he may be scum but he is a businessman

It will be the college flair for newspapers
"Broker trades sex for college girls boarding" with his profile pic from Facebook attached (lol)

btw does he have a Facebook? usually that will have colleagues and friends , take notes of names if needed for reverse bribery

Im with SPC , I think she will be fine.
He is the one taking a major risk, he is professional.
she is a innocent girl in need of apt.

    keep all data from him

edit = I am assuming the lease will have the company logo on it

damn, lol I have experience lot of things and this is one

5 years ago I rented from a "private" landlord.
    I wouldnt "put out",
    he stalked my home,
took notes when my boyfriend was there,
sent pics of my cars to prove I was home and could make time for him (like I dont know what they look like)

He thought he would scare me by stating he would sell the house in 30 days if my boyfriend was there when I wasnt home.
He was also not going to give me a referall
    I called the bluff.
I moved next door, slap in his face as a FOR RENT sign stayed up for 6 months

It would've been illegal if he told me he was selling it, gave me a set amount of time to move and his intention was not to sell it.
He never wanted me to move,he wanted pussy.

he could get away with all this
#1 he was not a professional, he was independent, renting personal property.

The dude she is fucking with is a professional, this is his job

Don't do it, he probably can tell that you're kinda desperate for it....I would run. He's taking advantage of you, it would be really easy to not keep his end of the deal, I'm pretty sure he has pulled this more than once- esp in NYC, a place where an affordable apt is a rare gem.. and overall, it will be problems in the long run. You could get the apt one day and something might come up forcing you to move out. The guy is not trustworthy and you can't trust someone with your living situation like that.

The apt is in Manhattan? Or in Brooklyn? Cause $1500 for a 2 bedroom in Manhattan sounds really low but IDK. Also, $1500 for a broker fee is pretty much the norm. Whatever the rent is is what they are going to take for their broker fee. You work in Manhattan, right? Couldn't you make $1500 in a week and just pay his fee that way you don't have to fuck him??

Its in Queens. Yes I work at ricks and its been slow as hell for me. Also it's a time issue. I need it by sept 1st and I have enough to barely pay my tuition due next week and the move in fee....I would be basically broke after that. Yeah I can work and have money again eventually but why not just pay it off like this? I have no moral issues with it. I'm not a professional escort but when the offer is right, I occasionally escort. It would just help me out financially to not have to pay $1500 right at this moment.
