    Default Advice?

    Hey all!

I'm not having much luck getting hired. The clubs I've been to have either told me to come back in a few weeks or took my info and said they would contact me. I wonder if waiting until after Labor Day to try again is a better idea. Any advice? Thanks for the help!

I'm 5'7", 135 lbs, dark skinned with waist length, groomed dreadlocks, in great shape. I danced over 10 years ago in NYC at a variety of clubs and currently do nude modeling. I've gone into the clubs with full makeup, looking presentable. Is it just possible that this is a really bad time of year to get hired?

Where did you try to get hired at?
    Can you post a picture?
Right now the clubs are slow and it will be easier to get hired in Sept when it picks up.

So far, I've tried Stiletto, The Harem, Pumps (Williamsburg, NY) and Lace (West Nyack). Next on my list are Satin Dolls, AJ's, Hott 22, Titillations and Sin City.

How do I post a picture?

I'd be weary of the dreads, too, honestly. I'm sure you would appeal to certain types of customers. But! You might not be as openly approachable with something as unique as dreads.

There's nothing I can (or want to) do about my hair. It's too long to wear under a wig and cutting it is definitely not an option. When I first started dancing 10 years ago, I wore a wig 50% of the time and there didn't seem to be much difference in what I earned each shift.

it may not make you earn anymore/less from customers, but it may get you hired easier if you were to hide them!! you want to look pretty, barbie-ish, and consumable to the masses when you audition.

TBH if she looks good like Squeak she can probably get away with the dreads.

Here is a picture of me, taken last night; excuse the poor quality. Hiding my dreads is not an option, if for no other reason than I would feel extremely uncomfortable in a wig.

Another girl on here who successfully wears dreads said before that she just does a nice updo. Perhaps that would help with getting hired?

Your dreads are beautiful, no different to a girl with braids. I hate when everyone jumps over dreads.

Firstly, your dreads look very nice. They don't look like what I was imagining and secondly, your body is sick!!

Ladies, thank you so much for the compliments! Should I keep trying to audition right now or wait until the beginning of football season (after Labor Day) and hit all the clubs again? I am open to traveling into NYC, if need be.

just wanted to chime in and say that your dreads are definitely not what I think of when I think of "dreads." I think dirty hippie, but you pull them off looking classy! (My friend tried stripping with dirty hippie dreads and it didn't work so well lol)

Clubs in NY care about hair, that's why we originally commented on it.
