Default Telling a Customer He Smells Bad?

The other night, one of my club's regulars came in. He's always gotten on my nerves. He comes in loud and boisterous, and this particular night he boasted how he had just won $10,000 in the lottery (yeah, right) but he's not "spending it at the club." He's a total tool. But he'll find a girl he likes and buys several dances from her over the course of the night. His usual girl wasn't there on this night, so lo and behold despite me being a complete non-complacent bitch to him, he picks me. I'd heard he spits when he talks and he smells bad, but I'd never been close enough to experience either; I just thought he was an asshole. So I agree to dance for him and OH MY GOD this man REEKS. He even puts his arms up with his hands behind his head so his pits are in full odor-spreading action. It was the worst dance I've ever had to give in my life. And, because he's such a dick in general, I was wondering if he came to the club like that on purpose to feel superior over all the poor strippers who need his money *gag*.

I told my boss I'd never dance for him again, I don't care how much money he offers. The customer kept pestering me all night for more dances, but I kept making up excuses, like I don't feel good (which was true!). I almost told him, "Dude, to be honest, you just freaking stink and I can't handle it."

He told me through my dancer Facebook page that he's going to come in later this week to see me. Oh god, what do I do?? Should I just be honest with him? I mean, it'd do BOTH of us and the other dancers a favor. I mean, he might genuinely not know he smells so someone should tell him, right? But I don't want to get in trouble with my boss, either. But I can't play the "I feel ill" card again. Any suggestions, ladies?

omg..when i was an LNA we used to rub vick's under our noses so that we wouldn't barf when shit smelled real bad. maybe keep your distance and not give him a very close dance? these are just suggestions in case you decide you wanna dance for him at all!. maybe bring some cologne in and say you were given free samples and maybe he'd like to try some hahaha.

Eeew, just GROSS! I was thinking if you could somehow suggest he freshen up before he visits the club? Tell him thru FB? Idk, but damn, I have a very sensitive sense of smell..I am grossed out here where I live w/the smell from cig smokers. Could you distract him & Fabreeze him, lol?
Maybe some guys on the blue side could help here? Or in the customer conversation section.

If he's a regular who always spends at least some money, I'd err on the side of politeness. See how he smells when he comes back in. Last time could have been a fluke, or maybe he's one of those guys whose sweat stinks due to poor diet/drug abuse/chronic illness/whatever, but who smells ok when he's clean. If he still stinks, say that last time you danced for him, you had an allergic reaction to his cologne and that tonight he should dance with a stripper whose nose is less sensitive. Maybe he'll take the hint, maybe he won't. But you don't want a regular you know can be an asshole to have a vendetta against you because you hurt his feelings.

Just put on a mask, like they do at nail salons. If someone smells that bad someone needs to tell them. Is he obese? I dont like to dance for obese guys because they always smell so bad and the crotch area reeks from a distance.

Wow that's horrible. When does a man step into an establishment where he wants to be close to a woman and smells so bad that she actually has to bring him toiletries. That's just shameful. Ugg.

When I worked @ Cheeks in Santa Fe there was this customer nicknamed "Biohazard". Even the druggies were reluctant to dance for him. On one particularly hot summer day he reeked. The club owner hauled him out back and HOSED him down!!!!

Maybe if you REALLY need to make that buck, try to time it so he's the last person you dance for on your shift, so you can then immediately go change out of your stinky-fied outfit and febreeze yourself.

Or, diffuse the blame and tell him, "I didn't notice right away but the other night after I danced for you, other people were commenting that I smelled funky and I was not able to sell any more lap dances. This time, let's try fresh, clean, fragrance free" *teehee* *giggle* *twirl* *stare straight in the eye and don't blink*

Or, when he shows up, tell him that you've got someone coming in to see you that just absolutely spoils you every time he comes, "but gosh he just insists that I have no detectable smell.. he's just so picky, but he really makes it worth my time and effort to make sure I don't get anyone else's smell on me."

Wow we have a regular we'll just call him "Bob" who's been coming in for yrs he is over 3 spins on the scale and can barely walk cause his ankles roll over he always wears the same shorts all yr round every season and he smells bad cause he probably has a challenge reaching certain vital parts he likes the new girls and always makes a friendly rotation if the club is empty Bob has saved my bankroll many nites during dead season and plenty of nites I be glad to take his stinken a$$ to make my pay out back we just simply rush to the bathroom to freshen up after the "Bob" experience

Personally I wouldn't tell them because that is not what they pay to hear.

Maybe he just doesn't care. If he smells that bad I'm sure his work place would have brought it up at some point.

^I agree. I would personally just ignore/avoid him if the money isn't worth enduring his BO! If he becomes aware or offended by you avoiding him, or still insists on getting dances from you, then just tell him "I'm sorry-I'm waiting for someone etc" or "I have to check when I'm up next/I'm up soon" and move on.

Sometimes....they really just don't know. Another girl has a regular with breath that reeks and she is forever popping mints in his mouth. He just thinks it's cute and that she's sharing.

I feel your pain - the smelly ones are the WORST. *shudder. I love the idea of "sharing" breath mints....

Other than that, I second the idea of "allergic to cologne" (maybe that's why you felt ill all night!lol), and suggesting one you really LOVE. You could also move his hands so that you aren't bombarded by his pits - "if you put them down HERE, baby, then see how much closer I can get!".

I would not dance for a guy that smells bad and risk making myself smell bad. There's one guy in the club that will pay you $100 for a couple of dances but he's obese and smells like piss. Yeah, not happening. Just avoid him.

well if you're going to avoid him anyway, may as well do a good turn for the next girl and tell him that he doesn't smell pleasant and it does not lead to the intimate experience for YOU.

even if he avoids you, maybe he'll get his shit together for the next girl.

Luckily he's a tool, so if he takes offense, oh well. It's always worse when the person is genuinely a nice (but clueless) person and you don't want to hurt their feelings.

yeah seeings as how i really don't G.A.F. about his feelings, and it's not like he drops a buttload of money, i'll probably tell him next time if he wants a dance with me. I mean, i won't be a dick about it, but i'll let him know i won't be doing dances for him until he cleans up.
and i know someone asked a few comments up - yes, he's overweight. and as far as his job telling him he smells... well, he supposedly works at a bunch of different clubs around town so he "has connections" pfffft but yeah i guess they don't care enough to let him know.

Stinky people don't know they are or don't feel they are doing anything wrong so I wouldn't even bother with telling him to clean up. His stench is normal to him.
