    Sad Piercing rejection help

I have 2 dermal anchors that I've had about 3 months. Suddenly I noticed they have a pimple directly next to them, looking like it is pushing the jewelry to the side. How can I salvage them?

There is no pus, and it doesn't hurt at all. I had no idea anything was wrong until a friend noticed I had a strand of hair wrapped around it. When she pulled it away, she noticed the bumps.

I've been doing salt soaks and using band aids to help it stop moving when I sleep. I'm sleeping on a couch currently so I'm sure that doesn't help.

I can't go back to the piercer because I am out of town and won't be back anytime soon.

What else can I try? Wound wash to clean? Tea tree oil?

That's how mine started to reject, and my piercer told me I should have taken it out then instead of trying to salvage the piercing. The "pimple" you see is most likely the "underground" part of the piercing trying to surface; that's what happened to mine, at least. The "pimple" would come up, then go away after I treated it with everything under the sun, then resurface again a week later. Eventually, the edge of the piercing came up through my skin, and I had to go back to the guy who pierced it and get him to cut it out entirely. By that time, tissue had regrown within the little holes that are in the base of the anchor, so it was a little gross to watch, and I now have a scar that looks like this : , the top hole being where the little hole for the piercing poked out of my skin, and the bottom from the anchor base surfacing. My two cents would be to remove it now and have it replaced when you heal.

    remove them before you scar.

I had 3 facials and 2 chest rejections. I did not remove my chest in time , they have scarred. 2nd time around have stayed in place

I had that happen with my nose and my belly button. You're supposed to put pressure on the bump until it goes away. Some people's bodies are just hypersensitive to foreign objects and try to get them to reject. Especially if any autoimmune disease run in your family.

^^^ dermal anchors are different , usually the bump means the anchor is coming out.

applying pressure is good, it solved my issue for a brief moment. Once in rejection they need to be forced back in , basically re pierced. I have tried to salvage many dermals.

Now I'm bummed out! I wonder if it was something I did.

I'll go to a piercing studio tomorrow and have them take a look.

I'm gonna get it done again and pay more attention this time.

    it happens.
My facial was due to my hair at night. It would wrap around it and I slept on that side so that didnt help

my chest was rejected bc the seat belt tugged on them.

When I did put a circular band aid over it , any of them , it was a breeding ground for germs esp if my makeup wasn't off completely.

I had all my facials re pierced the same days they where removed , just in a diff spot. The hole will be tiny and will not be visible as long as you dont let them get worse. Your face over time will heal. With zero makeup its a faint slight hardly noticeable tiny itsy bitsy little mark.

My chest has the scars bc I was determined NOT to let them go. Bad decision.

    Good luck

Dermals are such a pain. I had my back dimples pierced and healed multiple times but each time they would eventually get irritated and start to reject. I eventually had them taken out for good. From what piecers have told me and what I've seen, dermals aren't meant to be a forever piercing. In most circumstance, eventually they need to be removed. :/

I didn't want forever....I just wanted a year or two! *whines*

LOL. I'm gonna try my chest area next...see how that goes.

I'm hard-headed, I'm gonna do the back again...if it rejects within a few months I'll give up.

    ***********************

I came across this and thought it would be a great idea....now I'm not so sure. I'm gonna speak to my new piercer and see what he/she says about it. Getting all of these cut out would be a traumatic experience though.

lol they do not cut them out.

the dermal is pulled out w special tools. the only pain I had from pulling them out was crust's in the wound, that shit hurt. Again, the same stupid piercings I was trying to save

^Mine had to be cut. It wasn't like he hacked off all the skin around it, but he took a small sterile blade and cut from just above where mine was trying to surface to the tube that's supposed to hold the jewelry. From there, he tried to pull it out, but skin had already grown into the holes at the base of the anchor, so that had to be cut too. It didn't really hurt, but I have a decent tolerance for pain.

Let me preface this by saying my vanilla job is being a professional piercer.

Surface anchors are temporary piercings. At some point the body decides to reject them (usually due to snagging them, some other trauma, etc, but sometimes for no reason at all) they can last 6 months to 6 years (theres no way to tell when the body will start the rejection process, it can happen to a seemingly well healed piercing) Some spots tend to do better than others in terms of how quickly they reject. (i.e. we try to talk people out of areas that are high movement like wrist, fingers, other locations that move a ton and are going to get snagged every5 seconds) If they are starting to push out 99.9% of the time to remove them we just use the same tool to take them out as we do to put them in and are able to simply pop the whole anchor out. The whole process usually takes like 2 seconds. Hope that helps

Don't have a dermal but some info from my old plastic surgeon on rejections. He said if any of your piercings reject you have to let it heal then leave it out for 1 whole year before you repierce. I asked after my belly ring rejected twice.

The bump actually went away...I'm still going to go to a shop to get a final answer- but it actually looks normal again.
