    Default Revamping my lifestyle...

Brief backstory: I have been given many diagnoses from doctors throughout the years. Ranging from Manic depressive to Boarderline Personalities. I've struggled with meds. Finding the right ones. Getting the correct dose. Just having insurance to be treated for all of this. Needless to say, the past 12 years have been nuts! Well, this year, after having my 3rd child, I decided it was time to get with the meds and stick to them. I think I have the right stuff going on. I'm more motivated and a lot nicer.

My BF gained weight with me while I was pregnant, and after seeing many members of his family suffer health problem this year, he decided to get healthy. I've also decided to start getting healthier. It just seems easier if we support each other. We've started slowly changing our diets. It's just hard because it sucks to try and cook for only 2 people (Oldest kid lives with dad, 3 yo is super picky, and have 7mo). So if we eat out we try to pick healthier stuff and resist Wendy's bacony goodness. He's getting out and joined a local wrestling thing with his friends that he does once a week. I try to get the kids outside if it isn't too hot.

Now I just need to find a way to change my sleep schedule. It seems like no matter what time I go to bed, anywhere from 9pm to 2am, I don't really want to get up and moving until noon. I get up with the baby around 6am to feed him no prob. Go back to sleep to nap until daughter wakes up at 8am. I'll get her food when shes hungry, play games, but it seems like I just settle back down on the couch and don't motivate to really clean or do anything important until noon. I just don't get it.

But with September starting, I am determined to change things up! The holidays are going to be coming, and I am determined to look like a trophy wife when we see family again. That means getting skinny! (For both of us) I'm gonna start working out. My daughter will probably think it's a game or something and do it with me. lol I'm thinking of trying to take some Zantrex 3 to get me going in the morning and keep me from snacking with my daughter. She eats little meals/snacks throughout the day and whatever she doesn't finish I eat. So no more of that.

I just hope I can do it all!

good for you! the best thing you can do is get curious about cooking and always have food options on hand because it is SO easy to backslide and eat crap food when your brain just can't put together a dish easily (or your fridge is bare. I should know. I had wendy's tonight for that very reason.)

Definitely over-cook so that way you have stuff you can easily throw together the next night, even if it's not in the same configuration.

example: big pan of roasted veggies
next day use the leftovers in omelets, or chop them up and put them in soup.

Try to focus on incorporating more veggies in your diet-- like half the plate. The fiber will do great things, and you'll suffer less sugar-mood-swing-energy-crashes from taking in breads or sugars, even if the sugars are from fruit. But then, if you are going to have sugar, say for dessert, have it be from real fruit so the fiber also helps fill you up. And do not avoid fat-- just get it from good sources. Whole raw milk if you can swing it (better enzyme profile and the cream in it makes it so versatile), unsalted butter, good olive or coconut oil, and nuts if your system or your boyfriend's system does well with them. If you have a strong blender, it's also really easy to make your own flour, which sounds really dumb until you start reading about how much better it is for you than all-purpose flour that sits on the shelf for ages. Plus, it means you'll have more dry goods to choose from for cooking since you'll only create small amounts of flour-- which means plenty of beans, oatmeal, seeds, nuts, etc. to get creative with even if you don't want an alternative flour--- and these things are cheeeeeaaaaaappp.

Can't help you with the sleep thing. My sleep is so jacked up I worry it will never be fixed.

Ya, I love this time of year because all I do is cook in the crock pot. I end up having dinners for like 3 days! I bake muffins and make breakfast stuff scratch on Saturdays.

I know I got to bed real late last night, but I got up around 8a, took the Zantrex at 9a, and I was on the go around 10a! My kids actually woke up late today, so I imagine I'll be taking it earlier on weekdays. I actually feel like I'll have a good sleep!

i take some meds, a couple of which are energizing (like Wellbutrin). i also hate mornings, so i set an alarm for a few hours early than i want to get up, take my pills, and go back to sleep. i find it helps me to wake up a few hours later and feel more ready to go to work or outside.

Just a tip from me (I struggle with anxiety and some other "mood disorders"). I cannot handle stuff like Zantrex 3, makes me feel like I am on hardcore drugs, very anxious and unwell. I thought since you mentioned you had manic depression, this might help you.

Well, so far things are kinda working! I take the Zantrex when I wake up with the baby around 6 and I am like ready to go by 9! This week he's been waking in the middle of the night since he's teething, that's why I'm on at 5am. I just can't take it after 4pm otherwise I'm wired all night.

My BF has to go through his old pants to see what fits because he lost some weight (YAY) and I don't have a muffin top in my jeans anymore, but I'm the same size. The only drawbacks to eating healthy is how expensive it is and all the extra dishes!! Gonna buy a scale once I get my C4S check too.

I dug out an exercise dvd I got when I was pregnant. Started doing that whenever I have time. My daughter joins me because she thinks its a game.

Overall, I feel more focused! I hope I can keep it going.

skinnytaste.com really helped me with easy to make healthy recipes. also, poorgirleatswell.com when I am extra broke. If you have a well stocked pantry with basics, you only need a few key ingredients and you can pretty much make whatever

99 cent chef is a good blog for eating on the cheap but not necessarily as healthy recipes.

congrats on you and your BF's progress!! keep us up to date! it's really incredible what just a little bit of exercise and healthy eating can do.
