For a long time, I would cam, check how much $$$ I had made, then keep camming...
Unfortunately, checking my $$ constantly seemed to be kind of a mindfuck. If I had made very little in the last few minutes, I would feel discouraged and want to log off. If I had made a lot, I'd be like HOORAY! I made a bunch I can come back later and make the rest, TIME TO LOG OFF!
So my new trick is this: whenever I go online, I tell myself I will stay 4-5 hours (I seem to work best in 4-5 hour blocks at a time). I track my daily progress in terms of, how many hours have I put in towards my weekly goal of X hours? And I don't let myself check the $$ I've made until once every few days (you can do it at the end of the day, or every other day if you prefer).
I make my goal the number of HOURS instead of $$. Obviously I still hustle as hard as I can during those hours. But my main problem with camming is that I am not online enough, not my performance while I'm online.
My new goal is 30 hours a week. Once I achieve that I will go for 40 (camming is my full-time job but I've only been pulling around 15-20 hours a week lately).
This approach is designed to help those of us who struggle with "treating it like a REAL job"-by focusing on putting in a min hours per week, that is the BEGINNING to treating it like a REAL job, which is the key to camming success for everyone.
I think this strategy could help anyone. It helps to keep one from being discouraged when it's slow, and it helps to keep one from logging off early during a great night.
