Default Natural Remedies For Keeping Skin Pale

So I'm very fair skinned and I want to keep it that way. I don't tan. I just turn pink and then get a few freckles. However, I spent my summer in states with very hot, sunny climates, so my skin darkened a shade or 2 darker than it normally is. I'd like to speed up the process with getting rid of this.

So what are your remedies to keep fair skin very pale? I have these written down, but I haven't tried them:

    lemons
    baking soda (1x per week)
    oatmeal
    tumeric
    milk bath + epsom salt
    potatoes (made into paste)
    tomatoes

Have you tried any of these? What were your results? I'm not expecting anything drastic.

you might look into a chemical peel to help your skin regenerate faster. I also really like retinol.

While it's not to make your skin whiter per se, it will help take off the first couple of layers of your skin and help bring off superficial freckles/sun damage.

Plus, you HAVE to use super duper sunscreen when doing that, so that helps

and as a pleasant side effect, your skin will be crazy smooth. I ran out of retinol and my skin's slowly going back to little tiny icky bumps rather than super smooth

oh yeah, sorry-- don't use both together ever. You need to stop using retinol awhile before doing a chemical peel.

sure. fyi-- I got my tca peel stuff on amazon-- I believe it was skinceuticals?
If you're familiar with (or just read a ton of info) and are really careful, you can do it at home. I've done it at home, however a couple of things--
    1. you need at least 7-10 days of downtime where you don't mine having leather peeling skin
    2. people say they were good after 7 days-- it took me 10
    3. also, one peel isn't enough-- supposedly you start really seeing good responses after two. I did have really soft skin after the first time but I haven't had the downtime (that I knew of in advance) to want to devote the 7-10 days off.

I kind of like my glowing vampire skin too. A natural remedy I love is to wet a cotton circle with organic half-and-half and rub that all over my face and neck. Lately I've been hitting my underarms and elbows with it too as those areas need help. I hang out and let it dry for 10 minutes or so, then hop in the shower to rinse off and shower. It makes my skin feel and look softer, smoother and somehow plumper. Lactic acid is in milk, so perhaps that is the reason?

GlamourRouge - THANKS for this thread!

I use AVEDA products since they are plant & flower based, without parabens. The Enbrightenment products are THE TITS. I use the serum at night. It has salicylic acid but did not make my skin crazy dry.

As mentioned, despite it not being natural, Retinol is great. I'm using a Kate Somerville sample currently.

    Try grapefuit as well.

Citrus fruits and baking soda are actually really bad for your skin. I've read about their "lightening super powers" in the past too, but it's all bullshit. Definitely do not put either of those on your skin.

I tried milk in the past, and it made my skin feel a bit smoother and look a tad bit lighter immediately after I used it, but I do not believe it's a very effective option.

The only things that are going to safely help your skin back to its original shade are exfoliation and sunscreen (/staying out of the sun). A retinoid cream or Vitamin C serum would help, but Vitamin C serums are usually pretty expensive. Again, pleasepleaseplease don't try to get the benefits of a Vitamin C serum by putting citrus fruit on your face. Citrus fruits are way too acidic, will disrupt your skin barrier, and can result in irritation or burns. Even though they're natural, these options are much less safe that a mild chemical exfoliant. Natural does not mean better, or even safe sometimes.

charcoal is also very good, add some fullers earth or clay to make it in to a mask, the longer you can keep it on the better

actually retinols help you peel more evenly. I always use retin a the day I get a peel and they turn out better than when I dont use it.

u should let ur skin get used to it first tho, 3+ months of regular use so u can see how u react.

In the past I worked with many Asian women. They recommended Likas brand papaya soap. I've tried it myself, definitely noticed improved clarity, luminescence/whitening effect.

    Fuller's Earth clay
A sedimentary clay that has been widely used as a skin-lightening agent and is best known for its ability to be applied as a "facial bleach". Because of its enormous drawing capabilities, Fuller's Earth is the number one choice for oily skin and those prone to acne. It literally draws oil from the skin and has been used industrially for this exact purpose. Also works nicely as a bulk ingredient for skin clay recipes.

papaya soap... lotion infused w calamansi... placenta soap... goats milk lotion... if you want CHEAP, but effective products that aim toward skin whitening/exfoliating, hit up an Asian supermarket (99 Ranch and Seafood City come to mind). Moreso than anything tho, wear sunscreen religiously with a high SPF (I prefer Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist SPF 100+, its very light, non-greasy, and the scent is nice).

having skin cancer I use Retin A. This stuff is great, I peel once in a while and reveal new bright skin! IT also stops cancer cells on the face from growing!
Also Organic Goats Milk! I use this every morning. Pour a little in a bowl (very little) take a cotton ball soak it in the bowl, dab the cotton ball all over your face until it's wet and let it sit for 30 minutes! These two combined have kept my face beautiful! Very light!
I live in Florida, used to live in San Fran. Bathed in baby oil back in the day in the sun... baked myself. Thought I was perm. tan.

PS Chemical Peels do not work! I broke out badly due. My Derm. says he would never give me another Peel again. Peels are quick fixes anyway, you can't do them daily.
