Tomorrow, my home club is opening it's new sister club, and I'm scheduled to work it. Has anyone ever worked at an official grand opening? They've been doing a lot of advertising, but it's supposed to rain pretty heavy tomorrow so I'm a bit nervous.

I have a few times. In a way it's great because everyone is on the same footing in terms of cultivating customers. The bad thing is depending on the club there may not be that many. At one club (I opened three)the mayor cut the ribbon if you can believe that.
If there's been lots of advertising and media attention, it might not be bad. Thing is, that can either bring in a spendy crowd or a curious crowd that just want to see what all the fuss is about. I wouldn't go in expecting to make big bucks, but you never know who might show up. Personally, I'd try to get a few of my regulars to pop in so I'd have that back up just in case the opening night is a bust.

Is this new club in an area where locals have opposed it' opening ? If so I'd be very careful about an opening night club bust !!!

It's usually slow money-wise... people just want to come by and check the place out. Every grand opening is over-saturated with gawkers. No worries though... There will be guys there who'll spend $, and regulars from the sister club will certainly swing by.
Filter the dregs as ruthlessly as possible. Time wasters will be plentiful.
Best of luck! (you won't need it though...)
Cheers.

Yikes! I didn't even think about that..the manager (whom I know through the home club) said the town is ok with the club; it used to be a GoGo bar and will now be fully nude with byob. He also insisted it will be a "squeaky clean" club with no extras and no drugs, but we will see.
Thanks for the well wishes girls! Ill report back.

Well, the rain I mentioned was coming did indeed come and knocked over some trees, so the club had no power when I got there. Surprisingly a handful of guys showed up, and started streaming Pandora and using their flashlight apps so we could dance on stage. Finally got the generator going around 10, and I left at one, but in the three hours I actually worked, I made $350. Definitely not that great, but for a shortened shift on a club's first night, I shouldn't complain. I'm working this Saturday and expecting it to be good. There were definitely a few time wasters though, and I don't think any dancer sold a VIP. We will see..
